Five cops injured in Ujjain after Muharram procession participants use horse to ram into barricades on prohibited route
An official said that a lathi charge was carried out to bring the situation under control near Khajurwadi Masjid under Jiwajiganj police station limits after some of those taking part in the procession clashed with police.
'The route had been finalised in advance, and organisers of the procession were clearly instructed not to take horses through prohibited paths. Despite this, those in the procession tried to force their way after getting the horse to ram into the barricades,' Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma said.
'We had to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd. They fled, leaving the horse behind,' he added.

Thane: Police have registered a case against eight persons, including the principal and four teachers of a private school at Shahapur in Maharashtra's Thane district, after girls studying in Classes 5 to 10 were made to strip to check if they were menstruating, officials said. The incident occurred at the R S Damani school in the town on Tuesday after bloodstains were found in its toilet, they said. It sparked outrage among the parents of the girl students, who protested on the school premises on Wednesday and sought action against the management and teachers involved in the episode. As per the complaint lodged by a parent of one of students, the girls studying in Classes between 5 and 10 were called to the convention hall of the school and shown the photos of blood stains in the toilet and floor by screening them through a projector, and asked if anybody from them was going through the menstrual cycle. These girls were then divided into two groups. All those who said they were menstruating, were asked to give their thumb impression to the teachers. But those girls who said they were not experiencing it, were taken to the toilet one by one with a woman attendant checking their private parts, it said. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the school principal, four teachers, the attendant and two trustees, the police said. Additional Superintendent of Police (Thane rural) Rahul Zalte said when the parents learnt about the girl students being subjected to this kind of a check, they gathered at the school and demanded action against the teachers involved. "The situation turned tense for a while with the irate parents demanding action," he said. The police are probing the entire incident, and the process of registering the offence against those found guilty is underway, he said. The case against the eight persons was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said. None of them has been arrested in this connection so far, senior inspector Mukesh Dhage of the Shahapur police station said.

She then allegedly gave him some anti-anxiety pills, the official said. Police stated that the teacher would also often allegedly get the boy drunk before abusing him. She was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act. 31 vehicles likely to lose registration for repeated traffic violations
Indore: Taking a firm stand against habitual traffic offenders, Indore Transport Department began the process of cancelling registrations of vehicles for violating traffic norms more than 10 times. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Collector Asheesh Singh had issued instructions during a recent review meeting of Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) to initiate strict action against drivers who repeatedly flouted traffic rules. He had specifically asked Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to commence proceedings for cancellation of vehicle registrations of repeat offenders. Following the directives, Transport Department has issued notices to 31 vehicle owners, informing them of the impending cancellation of their vehicle registrations. Regional Transport Officer Pradeep Sharma confirmed receiving a list of 31 vehicles that include bus, four-wheelers, and two-wheelers, from Indore Smart City Development Ltd that manages ITMS. These vehicles have accumulated at least 10 serious traffic violations each, including repeated red-light jumping and other significant infractions. The owners of all these vehicles have been asked to respond to the RTO notices within seven days. The notice states that if a satisfactory response was not provided within the stipulated time, the vehicle registration would first be suspended and subsequently cancelled. "Once the vehicle registration is cancelled, the same can't be plied on the road and if found, it would be seized," Sharma said. Singh emphasised that adherence to traffic rules was mandatory for maintaining traffic discipline and controlling road accidents. He reiterated that strict action would be taken against those who repeatedly violate the rules.
