Author of controversial Prince Andrew book speaks out after Prince Harry 'calls in lawyers'

Daily Record3 hours ago
The bombshell new book about the Duke of York contains a number of shocking claims about senior members of the Royal Family.
The author of a bombshell book about Prince Andrew, that made Prince Harry reportedly "call in his lawyers" over claims the duke punched his uncle during a "family gathering" in 2013, has broken his silence. Andrew Lownie's new bombshell book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, alleges that Harry left the King's brother "with a bloody nose" before their fight was broken up.

Lownies claimed that a physical altercation is said to have erupted between the two royals after Harry discovered "something Andrew said", noting that their relationship has remained strained for over a decade following the purported incident. After the story was published by the Daily Mail, Meghan and Harry's lawyers released a statement which denied the claim.

It read: "I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry." Despite the claims in his book being rubbished by the Sussexes' lawyers, the author has taken to social media to share his response to the backlash.

Taking to social media after serialisation of his book commenced in the Daily Mail, author Andrew shared a link to a Newsweek article claiming that the Duke of Sussex had contacted his lawyers, the Express reports.
If you cannot see the X post above you can view it here.

He wrote: " Prince Harry calls in lawyers over Prince Andrew and Meghan story. I look forward to doing battle and the disclosures which will emerge."
In addition to sending the statement to the Mail, Harry and Meghan's team also informed NewsWeek: "Such are the gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks made in the Daily Mail's story, I can confirm a legal letter from Prince Harry's counsel has been sent to the Mail."
In the book, Mr Lownie wrote: "According to a source close to both men, Harry told him he was a coward not to say it to his face.

"Harry got the better of Andrew by all accounts, leaving him with a bloody nose before the fight was broken up."
He continued: "He openly accused Meghan of being an opportunist and thought she was too old for Harry, adding that his nephew was making the biggest mistake ever. The source said: 'Harry later told William he hated Andrew.'"

The book also alleged that the disgraced Duke of York later told his nephew that his marriage to Meghan Markle wouldn't last longer than a month.
He is also said to have accused him of going "bonkers" before calling him out for not doing any due diligence into her past.
In addition to this, the book claims that Prince William has been working behind the scenes to back the Duke of York's removal from the Royal Lodge where Andrew currently resides with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

Snaps from earlier this year revealed the property looking visibly deteriorated, with black mould, dampness, and cracked paintwork evident around the exterior, as well as the outbuildings and the gatehouse.

evicted from the £31m Windsor estate. However, Andrew refused to give up his home, where he has lived since 2004.
According to the book, the Prince of Wales is reported to have "long harboured" contempt for both Andrew and Sarah and plans to remove the pair himself upon ascending to the throne should his father, King Charles, fail to do so.

Harry answered: "I'm the most surprised man in here, in the final. "I wouldn't be here with anyone else other than Shakira." While Maya quipped back at him: "Probably wouldn't." Aside from Shakira, Harry also had a long-running connection with Helena Ford. The pair hooked up in the Hideaway after just 56 hours in the villa - despite not being coupled up at the time. They were coupled up twice throughout the series - but their relationship ultimately came to an explosive end. Writing online, fans have been left divided over whether Harry and Shakira should win the series. Watch the moment Maya Jama takes savage swipe at another girl after Meg and Dejon miss out on Love Island final One penned on X: "Shakira and Harry getting my vote to win is something I never thought I would say." Another wrote: "Surely Harry and his disgusting behaviour isn't going to be awarded 25k." While a third chimed in: "I want Shakira to win only, Harry does not deserve it." A fourth added: "I still can't believe Harry is in the final never mind the bookies favourite to win it." It comes as Harry's ex Emma Munro revealed what he messaged her before entering the villa. Harry, 30, was initially left stunned when his real-world ex Emma entered the compound, and he could be heard saying: "Oh my god, it's my ex." However, Emma was later dumped from the series alongside fellow bombshell Boris. She has since let slip their last conversation before he entered the ITV2 series as a show OG. Emma denied knowing he was going on the matchmaking series and said: "No, he [Harry] sent me the weirdest text right before he went into holding. "And he basically said 'oh you won't be able to contact me for the summer, please get hold of my mum if you need anything.' "I thought oh he's going to rehab. "Or he's checked into a wellness centre, how wrong was I?"

Britney Spears shows off painful sunburn in a bright pink bikini

Britney Spears spent too much time in the sun and as a result got a nasty sunburn. The singer, 43, who nearly lost her eyebrows several months ago, shared some photos on social media Monday in which her usually fair skin was a bright as her pink string bikini. The Circus singer posed provocatively, pulling down one side of her bottoms, indicating she had been laying out in the nude as there were no tan lines. Her long, blond hair was styled away from her face in messy waves and she wore camera ready makeup with a red lip. The Oops!... I Did It Again singer was barefoot, but wore a thick black choker around her neck. The Billboard Music Award winner shared a cheeky snap of her bottom in a side shot which clearly showed the change in her skin tone. The photos were posted without comment and have since been deleted from her Instagram account. Spears, who has been diagnosed with anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, allegedly had an outburst after she was prevented from lighting a cigarette on a public charter fright from San Lucas, Mexico to Los Angeles in May. Police bodycam footage obtained by Entertainment Tonight shows the pop diva peacefully deplaning in LA without incident. In the video, a police officer can be heard saying she 'didn't take her meds,' but no further action was taken. In July Spears told her fans in a social media post she had ' adopted a beautiful baby girl' named Lennon London Spears, which turned out to be a joke. An insider told Daily Mail she was simply 'trying to be funny' and garner a reaction. 'Britney was just having fun when she announced that she would be adopting a girl,' our source confirmed. 'She did it for a laugh, she isn't adopting a daughter, and it also doesn't mean anything else like her getting a dog. She was just trying to be funny and see who would bite.' The hitmaker is reportedly working on her relationship with her son Jayden, 18, with whom she has recently reunited. She shares the teen and his brother Sean Preston, 19, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. ''Jayden is her rock right now and if there was ever anything that broke this bond Britney would be crushed,' the insider said. 'He is all she talks about. She is helping his career and providing for him financially. He is living large now.' In the past, Jayden, has admitted to being embarrassed by his mother's social media posts. 'It's like almost as if she has to put something on Instagram to get attention,' he told ITV in 2022. 'This has gone on for years and years and years, and there's a high chance that this is never going to really stop, but I'm hoping for me, maybe she will.'

Love Island Final: Harry and Shakira and Toni and Cach are this year's final two couples - as third and fourth place are revealed

Harry and Shakira and Toni and Cach are this year's final two couples as the Love Island kicked off on Monday evening. Angel and Ty have come fourth after receiving the fewest public votes, with Yasmin and Jamie finishing in third. Both couples have left the villa exclusive after a smooth sailing final few days in the villa. Angel was the final bombshell in this year's series, only entering the villa two weeks ago where she immediately hit it off with Casa Amor boy Ty. The pair have gone from strength to strength despite Blu's attempt to turn her head earlier this week. Earlier in the day a shock couple emerged as the favourites to win just hour ahead of the live final. Bookies odds have revealed that Harry and Shakira are tipped to win the ITV2 dating show despite the pair having had a turbulent time in the villa. According to Ladbrokes, the couple, who have only been together a week, are tipped to win by a massive 10/11. This latest twist has seen the new favourites' odds tumble from 6/1 over the weekend. It was with Yasmin and Jamie, but they have gone out to 7/2 from 11/8 as the frontrunners. Longtime favourites Toni and Cach are still 7/4 from 6/4, while Angel and Ty prop up the betting at 18/1. It comes after Meg and Dejon became the latest couple to be dumped from the Love Island villa after the ex-Islanders had their say. And during AfterSun on Sunday evening, Dejon admitted he has been 'reflecting on his actions' since leaving the villa. The hunk came under fire for his behaviour towards Meg, after keeping her around but continuously flirting with every bombshell that entered the villa. While they are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend, they had a tumultuous time on the series - which this year has even been acknowledged in a Women's Aid statement. The charity accused some men on the show of 'showcasing toxic male behaviour' as well as 'gaslighting' and 'manipulating'. Speaking on Love Island Aftersun, Dejon, 26, told Maya Jama: 'It was interesting the way that we got dumped, because I feel like the decisions were definitely… you kind of heard from both people's point of view. 'Some people saw bad things and some people saw good things. So it definitely made me in this time of being like reflect on my actions over the villa. 'Coming in, I just thought, I'm on Love Island. I'm gonna explore connections, I'm gonna be flirty, I'm gonna see what my strongest connection was. 'But in the back of my head, I always knew it was Meg, so I definitely see why that kind of… there's a lot of opinions about that, and I feel like I could have explored connections with being less flirty and stuff.' The professional footballer added: 'I definitely understand why people have their opinions regarding that, and even there's times that, honestly, she's stuck by me, and she tells me how she feels, and she stuck by me more than more than she should. More than I deserve a lot of times.'
