Multi award winning boy band McFly set to draw crowds at summer sessions
Multi award winning global boy band McFly are bringing their energy and excitement to Southampton this summer.
The band, consisting of vocalists and guitarists, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, Bass guitarist, Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd, will perform at TK Maxx Presents Southampton Summer Sessions on Sunday, June 22.
They will be part of a huge selection of artists performing in Southampton this summer, alongside Rag'n'Bone Man, UB40 and Craig David. McFly will be supported by Twin Atlantic and Devon.
The band celebrated 21 years together in 2024 and later in 2025 they are going on a UK tour with 'rival band' Busted.
They have produced seven studio albums and achieved seven UK number 1 hits with songs like All About You, 5 Colours In Her Hair and Star Girl.
The events will take place in Southampton Guildhall Square and run from June 13 to June 29.

Tom Fletcher forced to apologise for ‘insensitive' post shared after Air India plane crash
McFly singer Tom Fletcher has been forced to apologise for an 'insensitive' post shared in the wake of the Air India plane crash that has killed more than 250 people. On Thursday (12 June), the plane, which was flying to London Gatwick, crashed into a hostel building in Gujarat five minutes after taking off. Images and videos from the city showed plumes of smoke pouring from the wreckage of the plane as firefighters tried to douse the charred remains of buildings impacted by the crash. Shortly after, Fletcher, 39, shared a post on his Instagram Stories about becoming a trained pilot, which had been accompanied by Foo Fighters song 'Learn to Fly'. But when many of his two million followers alerted him to the news, Fletcher realised the poor timing and deleted it. He immediately issued an apology, writing in a follow-up post: 'Sorry, I've only just seen the terrible news about the Air India crash. So awful. 'Had I known earlier, I obviously wouldn't have posted about my flight today. I understand why that must have looked insensitive and have deleted it.' The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant said that his 'whole heart goes out to everyone involved in the crash and all their friends and families'. Fletcher's apology arrived hours after The Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright addressed an 'inappropriate' post he'd shared in the aftermath of the Air India crash. After his followers questioned the post, which saw him complaining about leg room on flights, Wright explained that he had written and scheduled it before the crash had occurred. He called it a 'horrendous coincidence'. 'I apologise for a post I just put up on my page after today's heartbreaking events,' he wrote on his Instagram Stories. 'I have posts from a holiday that are on the scheduled setting, which go out on future days I have set them for which was done last week. It's a horrendous coincidence that today's post was on such a devastating day.' He continued: 'Once I logged in to my Instagram and realised the post had gone out, I immediately deleted. My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected from today.' Wright apologised 'for this mistake and any offence caused'. A British national was the sole survivor of the Air India flight. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, who had been sitting in seat 11A, was identified by local police shortly after the crash. Indian civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said on Thursday night that a formal investigation in keeping with international protocols had been initiated. A UK team had been dispatched to join the investigation as well, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said. The flight was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a line training captain with 8,200 hours of flying experience, and First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged 1,100 hours. There were 10 other crew members on board, civil aviation authorities said.

Greatest Day among hits sung by Gary Barlow at Halifax's Piece Hall
Gary Barlow took to the stage at Halifax's Grade I-listed Piece Hall earlier this week for a live show full of hits. The singer-songwriter, record producer, and Take That frontman brought his Songbook Tour to the venue on Tuesday (June 10) as part of TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall. Open Road, Greatest Day, and These Days were among his openers, while singalong favourites such as Relight My Fire, Back For Good, Rule The World, and Never Forget rounded off the night. Mr Barlow called the Piece Hall an "incredible venue" and said: "Please, please let us come back here!" The night was opened by Beverley Knight, who greeted the crowd by saying: "It's nice here! "This is so pretty. "I am so excited to be here. "Yorkshire's got the vibe!" TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall continues with The Corrs and Natalie Imbruglia performing on Thursday (June 12), and Pendulum with Normandie performing on Saturday (June 14). Other acts set to perform in the coming weeks include Olly Murs, The Script, Simple Minds, Rag'n'Bone Man, The Human League, Paul Heaton, Leon Bridges, Texas, Travis, Il Divo, Roger Daltrey, Anastacia, Squeeze, The Libertines, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nile Rodgers and Chic.

Huey Lewis says he ‘can't hear music' after severe hearing loss
Huey Lewis has revealed that he can no longer hear music due to severe hearing loss. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, 74, was diagnosed with Ménière's disease in 2018. The inner ear disorder can cause severe dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss. Speaking to People, Lewis said he had surgery to help deal with the condition. "I'm no spring chicken, so something's going to happen at some point and this is my cross to bear,' said Lewis. 'I have a cochlear implant in my head that now enables me to hear speech much better. I lost bilaterally, my hearing ... the intense vertigo — knock on wood — I have kind of outgrown. I'm mildly dizzy all the time, and my hearing just went to zero. 'And now I have a cochlear implant, so I'm much better that way, but I can't hear music.' Lewis lamented the loss of music in his life, saying: 'The worst part is that means it's bad enough not to be able to perform and sing and play, but it's really bad not to even be able to enjoy music.' He described performing and recording as 'the best feeling in the world' but added: 'I'm never going to get there. I mean, I might get to where I can try to, and I'm not going to give up. I'm going to try. But geez, that kind of fun, that kind of great ride. I doubt I'm ever going to see that ... feel that again.' Earlier this week, Lewis took part in an appeal by the cast of Back to the Future to track down the iconic Cherry Red Gibson ES-345 guitar used in the film. Lewis and his band Huey Lewis and the News performed the soundtrack's headline song 'The Power of Love'. As the movie commemorates its 40th anniversary, Gibson is producing a documentary, Lost to the Future, chronicling the search for the elusive guitar and the film's legacy. In the film, Michael J Fox's Marty McFly steps in for an injured band member at the 1955 school dance with the theme 'Enchantment under the Sea', playing the guitar as students slow dance to 'Earth Angel'. He then leads Marvin Berry and the Starlighters in a rendition of 'Johnny B. Goode', calling it an oldie where he comes was from even though the 1958 song doesn't exist yet for his audience. Fox said he wanted McFly to riff through his favorite guitarists' signature styles – Jimi Hendrix behind the head, Pete Townshend's windmill and the Eddie Van Halen hammer. After digging and dancing to 'Johnny B. Goode', the students at the dance fall into an awkward silence as McFly's riffs turn increasingly wild. 'I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet,' McFly says. 'But your kids are gonna love it.'
