In June this year, podcaster Raj Shamani posted a four-hour conversation with Vijay Mallya on his podcast, discussing everything from his life to Kingfisher, the controversy around leaving the country, and more. Vijay Mallya spoke at length about the Kingfisher Airlines crisis and more on Raj Shamani's podcast.

Raj's podcast with Vijay went viral when it dropped, given that the businessman had not spoken to the media in a long time. In a promo for the upcoming episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Raj revealed that the episode was shot in London.
In the promo, Kapil says, 'Raj, you managed to interview a personality whom even the top agencies of our country couldn't approach. How did you approach him?' Raj replies, 'I was out for a walk in London. I happened to spot him, so I approached him. I asked him, sir do you know who I am? He said, no. I asked, do you know what a podcast is? He said, no.'
While the promo doesn't reveal more, Raj is expected to discuss it in detail with Kapil in the next episode. The episode, which will stream on Netflix at 8 PM on Saturday, will feature podcasters Saurabh Dwivedi, Raj Shamani, Kamiya Jani, and Samdish Bhatia as guests. The other podcasters also discuss some of their famous interviews, including one with a CM.

Kingdom Box Office Collection Day 2: Vijay Deverakonda's actioner nosedives after historic start, earns Rs 7.5 crore

After a thunderous opening at the box office, Vijay Deverakonda's highly anticipated film Kingdom witnessed a significant decline on its second day of release. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 7.5 crore on Day 2, marking a steep drop of approximately 58.33% from its opening day. This brings the film's total two-day collection to Rs 25.5 crore. Despite the drop, the film maintained a respectable overall Telugu occupancy rate of 42.56% on Day 2. It began the day with 27.39% occupancy during morning shows, increased to 38.12% in the afternoon, rose to 43.21% in the evening, and peaked at 61.50% during the night shows. Region-wise, Warangal led with a 69.50% occupancy rate, followed by Mahbubnagar at 56.50%, and Hyderabad at 52.50%. Also Read | Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Ajay Devgn's comedy struggles with Rs 6.75 crore debut amid poor reviews Kingdom had already surpassed the opening day figures of Vijay's previous film Kushi, but its second-day earnings fell slightly short of Kushi's Day 2 collection of Rs 9.9 crore. However, the strong opening helped Kingdom maintain a lead in cumulative earnings, with its two-day total of Rs 25.5 crore edging past Kushi's Rs 25.15 crore. Interestingly, while Kingdom couldn't outdo Liger's Day 1 numbers, its second-day performance of Rs 7.5 crore helped it overtake Liger's two-day total of Rs 23.4 crore. The drop on Day 2 can be attributed, in part, to it being a working day, along with the film receiving mixed reviews. Additionally, Kingdom is facing stiff competition from other releases, including Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar, and Karan Johar's Dhadak 2. All eyes are now on the weekend collections, as Kingdom is being viewed as a potential comeback for Vijay Deverakonda after lukewarm responses to his previous outings, Kushi and Liger.

Kathal: Where To Watch Sanya Malhotra's National Award-Winning Film

Last Updated: Sanya Malhotra's Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery won big at the 71st National Film Awards. If you haven't yet watched the satirical drama, here's your cue to stream it. Sanya Malhotra's Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery has won the prestigious National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film at the 71st National Film Awards. The press conference was held on August 1 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It was organised to recognise the excellence in Indian cinema for the year 2023. The announcement was made in the presence of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of State L Murugan and I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju. The ceremony was also live streamed for the public. Before Kathal receives the National Award at a ceremony scheduled later this year, now is the perfect time to revisit or discover this unique film. If you haven't yet watched the satirical drama, here's your cue to stream it. Below is everything you need to know about where to watch Kathal, and why it's a film that truly deserved the honour. Where To Watch Kathal Directed by Yashowardhan Mishra and written by Ashok Mishra, Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery premiered directly on Netflix on May 19, 2023. Bypassing the traditional theatrical route, the film proved that meaningful storytelling, strong performances, and a bold narrative can resonate deeply with audiences, even through an OTT release. Since its premiere, the film steadily built a strong word-of-mouth following on the streaming platform, praised for both its social relevance and its distinct tone. And now, after clinching a National Award, it stands tall as one of the most important Hindi films of recent years. If you're yet to watch it, it's available to stream anytime on Netflix. Kathal Plot Set in the fictional town of Moba, Kathal follows the story of Inspector Mahima Basor, brilliantly portrayed by Sanya Malhotra, who is assigned to solve the odd case of two jackfruits stolen from the garden of MLA Pateria. While the premise looks lighthearted and filled with comic elements, the narrative is so layered that it gradually unravels weightier themes such as caste discrimination, systematic negligence and human trafficking. Why Kathal Stands Out What makes Kathal more than just another quirky comedy is how it quietly holds up a mirror to our system, without ever losing its sense of humour. At the heart of it is Sanya Malhotra, playing a young police officer who isn't just dealing with a bizarre case of stolen jackfruits, but also the everyday weight of being a woman in uniform from a marginalised background. Through her, the film explores how deeply personal professional struggles can feel when you're constantly being underestimated or dismissed. But Kathal doesn't go down the heavy-handed route. Instead, it lets absurdity do the talking. Watching an entire police force scramble to recover two jackfruits for a powerful politician, while cases involving missing girls are barely acknowledged, feels oddly familiar and that's where the satire hits hard. The humour isn't just there for laughs; it's used smartly to point out what we, as a society, have come to accept without question. Kathal stands out because it chooses to be funny and fearless at the same time. It entertains, yes, but more importantly, it nudges you to think. Alongside starring Sanya Malhotra in the lead role, Kathal features Anant V Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Brijendra Kaka in other significant roles. Directed by Yashowardhan Mishra and written by Ashok Mishra the film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Achin Jain under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and Sikhya Entertainment. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD He adds, 'From being the No 1 trending show on Netflix India, to our hitting the global charts on the platform, Mandala Murders is off to a great start and it makes all of us very, very happy. I wanted to create a binge-able, mind-bending, genre-defying series with Mandala Murders. It was risky and very ambitious and I'm very happy to see the initial response to the series.' Gopi is a big binger of psychological thrillers and mysteries that pushes audience to think about what is real, what is just sheer figment of imagination and can the occult exist in today's modern world. For him, Mandala Murders was an attempt to play with the minds of the audience. He says, 'I'm a big fan of dark, moody, crime dramas that leave you on the edge of what is real, what is imagination and what is occult if it exists in today's world.' Gopi adds, 'True Detective, The Sinners, Twin Peaks, Sharp Objects, are an exploration of how the mind can push people to the edge of belief and disbelief and if Mandala Murders is doing that to audiences in India with a story and a concept that's rooted in India and our culture, it is truly delightful.'
