In the aftermath, OPS took to social media to criticise the Union Government for delays in releasing funds under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, signalling a growing rift with the BJP. His departure from the NDA is now being seen as the culmination of these tensions.
OPS's Next Political Move
OPS is now preparing to embark on a statewide tour in the lead-up to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Adding an element of political intrigue, OPS met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during a morning walk earlier today, raising speculation about potential future alignments. According to reports, the OPS faction is also in talks with actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). OPS reportedly has two relevant options - the ruling DMK or the debutant TVK spearheaded by Vijay. As per reports, TVK is also keen on inducting OPS as the party believes the former CM holds ground in key parts of the state.

The exit of the OPS faction from the NDA is expected to impact Tamil Nadu's political landscape significantly, especially among the Thevar community, a powerful social group in southern Tamil Nadu that has traditionally backed the AIADMK. Telangana Congress leaders depart for Delhi in a special train to demand 42% BC reservations
In a show of political commitment, Backward Classes (BC) leaders from Telangana left for New Delhi in a special train on Monday (August 4, 2025) to participate in a three-day campaign demanding the implementation of 42% reservations for BCs. They will join the dharna at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) where Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, his Cabinet colleagues will also participate seeking Presidential assent to the bills passed by the Telangana Legislature on BC reservations. While Ms. Meenakshi will travel up to New Delhi, the other three leaders travelled up to Alair and will join the dharna the day after. Speaking to the media, Mr. Goud said that BC leaders have departed for Delhi to press for their constitutional and social rights. 'The collective voice of BCs must move forward with unity,' he said. Mr. Goud said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has taken up the BC cause nationally, and the Telangana Congress, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is playing a central role in this movement. 'After the 1931 caste census, this is the first historic step towards true representation,' he added. The TPCC president came down heavily on BJP leaders N. Ramachandra Rao and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accusing them of deliberately blocking the BC reservation bill. He also questioned the silence of prominent BJP BC leaders, including Bandi Sanjay, Etela Rajender, and Dharmapuri Arvind. 'Do the BJP's BC leaders have no courage? Why are they not speaking up?' BJP reaffirms support to de-notified nomadic tribes in Andhra
VIJAYAWADA: BJP AP president PVN Madhav reaffirmed the party's commitment to the welfare of de-notified nomadic tribes during a roundtable conference in Vijayawada, held ahead of the 75th Vimukti Divas (Liberation Day). Addressing tribal leaders, Madhav said only the Narendra Modi-led government has allocated a dedicated budget for these communities, which have been historically marginalised due to colonial-era policies. He recalled that these tribes, despite participating in India's freedom struggle, were branded as criminals by the British in 1871, resulting in decades of persecution. Their liberation began on August 31, 1952, and gained momentum under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose commission highlighted the cultural significance of these communities. 'The commission clearly stated that India's rich cultural heritage owes much to these nomadic tribes,' Madhav said. Since 2014, the Modi government has prioritised their recognition and welfare, he added. Highlighting local challenges, Madhav noted that many de-notified tribes in Andhra Pradesh still lack voting rights, contributing to their continued socio-economic struggles. He said the BJP has conducted studies to address this issue and is formulating plans to protect identity and dignity. As part of the 75th Vimukti Diwas celebrations, Madhav announced a month-long series of 'Spoorthi' programmes across all districts, culminating in a grand event on August 30. BJP MLA Dr Parthasarathi, former IAS officer Dasari Srinivas Rao, State General Secretary Bitra Shivannarayana, and OBC Morcha State President Rongala Gopi Srinivas were also present.
