BTS reunion: K-pop phenoms announce comeback album and 2026 world tour following military service completion

The Hindu3 days ago
After a three-year hiatus, global K-pop sensation BTS has officially announced their reunion with a new group album and a world tour slated for 2026. The news was shared by all seven members — Jin, RM, V, Jimin, J-Hope, Jungkook, and Suga — during a livestream on Weverse on July 1, marking their first public appearance together since 2022.
'Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music,' the group stated. 'Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member's thoughts and ideas. We're approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started.'
This will be BTS' first full studio album since Be in 2020. The band also confirmed the release of a live album, BTS Permission to Dance on Stage — Seoul, set to drop on July 18.
The announcement comes as all members have now completed South Korea's mandatory military service. Jin, the first to enlist in December 2022, was discharged in June 2024, followed by J-Hope, Suga, and the rest of the group completing their service by mid-2025. Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men must serve in the military, typically for 18 to 21 months.
BTS also confirmed plans for a world tour beginning in spring 2026, their first since the Permission to Dance On Stage tour in 2021. Though full tour dates have yet to be released, the band hinted at possible stops in North America, including the Bay Area.
In addition to the group's comeback, individual members will continue solo activities throughout the rest of 2025. During the livestream, members praised Jin's recent solo concerts in Korea and expressed excitement for J-Hope's upcoming headlining performance at Lollapalooza Berlin.
Originally debuting in 2013, BTS rose from K-pop stardom to global dominance, achieving six Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles. During the hiatus, all seven members released solo projects, further expanding their musical identities.

Jeon Somi's Comeback Is Just 4 Days Away, And You Won't Believe Her New Look for 'EXTRA'!

All Eyes on Somi's Stunning Transformation Okay, K-pop stans, brace yourselves-Jeon Somi is about to flip the script with her comeback single 'EXTRA,' dropping July 7th! If you thought she'd stick to her usual high-teen, bubblegum pop vibes, think again. The second concept poster just dropped, and Somi looks like she's straight out of a futuristic pop universe: platinum blonde hair, armor-inspired outfits, and nails that could probably cut through glass. The whole vibe is so extra (pun intended), and it's got fans buzzing about what this new era will sound and look like. From Vivid Colors to Monochrome Magic If you've been following Somi since her 'Dumb Dumb' and 'Fast Forward' days, you know she's all about those bright, in-your-face colors and fun, youthful energy. But for 'EXTRA,' she's ditched the rainbow for a bold, almost icy monochrome style. It's like seeing your favorite Bollywood star suddenly go full-on cyberpunk-unexpected, but totally epic. The contrast between her usual look and this new aesthetic is making everyone wonder: what's next for Somi? The Teddy Factor: K-pop's Golden Touch Here's where it gets even more exciting-Teddy, the legendary producer behind some of K-pop's biggest hits, is on board for 'EXTRA.' Fans are already speculating about how the song will break the internet (and maybe a few streaming records). Fanmeetings, FOMO, and What's Next Mark your calendars, because after the single drops, Somi's going global with her 'JEON SOMI 2025 FAN MEETING [CHAOS].' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Hamburg: Nur 700 Plätze. Somi's bold reinvention is something every young person can relate to sometimes, you just need to break out of your comfort zone and shock the world. K-pop star Shinji's wedding announcement sparks controversy among fans - Here's what we know

The K-pop Wedding That's Got Everyone Losing Their Minds If you thought only Bollywood weddings could get this dramatic, think again! K-pop legend Shinji from the iconic group Koyote just dropped the bomb: she's tying the knot with Moon One, a singer seven years her junior. But instead of the usual "congrats, unnie!" flood, the internet basically exploded with a tsunami of "NOOOO!" from fans. We're talking full-on wedding opposition, wild rumors, and netizens going full Sherlock Holmes on Moon One's past. The drama is so spicy, even your favorite reality shows can't compete. From Fairy Tale to Full-On Fandom Meltdown Here's how it all went down: Shinji, who's been open about wanting to get married, finally announced her big day with Moon One, and they even did a cute wedding photoshoot. It should've been a double celebration - her bandmate Kim Jong Min just got married too! But then, Shinji posted a video on her YouTube channel, introducing Moon One to her Koyote fam (Kim Jong Min and Baekga), and that's when the internet lost its collective chill. The video, meant to be a sweet meet-the-family moment, turned into a viral sensation. In just one day, Shinji's channel doubled its subscribers, and the video racked up over 1.6 million views. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top Public Speaking Course for Children Planet Spark Book Now Undo But instead of heart emojis, the comments section turned into a battleground. Fans started digging up Moon One's past, and what they found had everyone gasping. Moon One's Past: Divorce, Daughter, and a Whole Lotta Drama So, what's the tea? Moon One confessed on camera that he's divorced and has a daughter living with his ex-wife. He even showed official divorce papers to Shinji's agency, confirming that the split was due to "personality differences." He says he pays child support and stays in touch with his daughter. But the internet wasn't satisfied. Rumors started flying: some claimed Moon One was involved in shady real estate deals without a license, others accused him of dating multiple people at once, and a few even brought up alleged bullying during his school and army days. Moon One admitted to working in real estate without the proper license (he says he didn't realize it was wrong and just needed to make a living), but he denied all the other accusations. Still, the fans weren't buying it. Comments like "Baekga, please stop this wedding!" flooded social media. Even Baekga, Koyote's rapper, couldn't escape the heat-fans begged him to talk Shinji out of marrying Moon One. Baekga responded with a cryptic Instagram post showing the Koyote members together and a blue heart emoji, hinting at his loyalty to Shinji no matter what.

Don't Come Home: Thai horror series turns haunted house into an emotional nightmare

Thai dramas have been progressively establishing their imprint on the world entertainment scene, particularly in the midst of the current K-drama tsunami. In the horror category, one spine-chilling series is gaining traction for all the right reasons. Don't Come Home, a Thai horror miniseries that combines supernatural suspense with intensely emotional family drama, provides a unique and unsettling take on the classic haunted home story. Spanning six hauntingly atmospheric episodes, the series on Netflix pulls viewers into a world where guilt, trauma, and buried secrets are just as frightening as the ghosts that haunt the night. Directed by Anuwat Prathumthong and starring Ploy Sornarin and Thitiwat Ritprasert, Don't Come Home avoids cheap thrills and instead delivers a lingering, psychological horror that stays with you. Plot: A desperate escape to a dangerous sanctuary The plot revolves around Varee (Sornarin), a mother attempting to escape her horrific past with her little daughter Min. They want a new beginning and flee to a secluded ancestral estate in a peaceful rural village. However, the serenity they seek is swiftly lost as what appears to be a peaceful retreat soon exposes itself to be anything from safe. As the mother and daughter settle in, weird events begin to unfold. The mansion groans with hidden secrets: phantom noises echo at night, strange sights appear during the day, and an invisible presence stalks every hallway. Varee, initially in denial, gradually finds a horrific past that links the mansion to unspeakable acts long forgotten. Don't Come Home: Different than others What distinguishes this series is its emotional depth. It's more than just a ghost story; it's an investigation of family tragedy, generational shame, and how unsaid pain may persist over time. Varee's passionate commitment to her kid serves as both a source of strength and a vulnerability when the line between past and present blurs. The series progresses from a basic haunted home story to a deep psychological thriller, thanks to expertly written tension and dramatic character development. Don't Come Home prompts viewers to consider the aftermath of trauma and the true cost of keeping secrets.
