Ford recalls more than 850,000 vehicles in U.S. over fuel pump defect
Ford Motor is recalling 850,318 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential low-pressure fuel pump failure, which could cause an engine stall, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said July 10. A faulty fuel pump can reduce fuel flow from the tank to the engine, causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said. Ford spokesman Mike Levine said: 'This recall is for certain 2021-2023 model year Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, Ford Bronco, Ford F-Series Super Duty, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition.' NHTSA estimates that 10% of the potentially affected vehicles have the defect. The auto safety authority received six consumer complaints alleging loss of power due to pump failure. Before a fuel pump fails, drivers may notice poor engine performance, including misfiring, rough running, reduced power, or a check engine light, NHTSA said in a notice to dealers. More: Ford recalls more than 300,000 Mach-E EVs warning it could lock out occupants Failures are more likely when fuel levels are low or in hot weather, it added. Ford is still developing a remedy. Ford Prepares To Redefine The Mustang
Read the full story on The Auto Wire If you're a purist who believes a real Ford Mustang has to be a coupe or convertible, hold onto your hat because things are about to change. While many have been angered by the Blue Oval putting the pony badge on the all-electric Mach-E crossover, word is the Mustang nameplate is going to be used for a lot more models moving coming first and making a huge splash is the much-rumored Mustang sedan everyone seems to be convinced will be called the Mach-4. While talk of such a thing coming out has been around for years, more recent reports claim dealers have been shown a concept vehicle, so that means it's in the development process. We expect Mustang faithful will have varying opinions on the thing, with most rejecting it as 'not a real Mustang.' But with four-door versions of the Dodge Charger coming back, and seeing how many of those Stellantis used to sell, it's just a wise business move to offer a muscle sedan. But Ford isn't stopping there. Supposedly at the same dealer meeting an off-road version of the Mustang was shown off. We don't know exactly the form of that concept, and it could easily have changed after dealer feedback. This clearly shows Ford is thinking outside the box about what constitutes a Mustang. Our more cynical side says the Blue Oval will slap pony badges on products which might not otherwise do as well. By cashing in on the vast social cache of the Mustang, it could sell more vehicles. Where's the limit? Will there be a three-row Mustang SUV? What about a super expensive two-seater Mustang supercar – oh wait, that exists. The future might bring us many more Mustang models, even if they're a horse of a different color entirely. Over 850,000 Ford Best-Sellers Have A Problem Pumping Gas
Over 850,000 Ford Best-Sellers Have A Problem Pumping Gas originally appeared on Autoblog. It's tough to come up with a new way of discussing a recall without making the concerned automaker look bad, but here we are again, talking about faulty Fords. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall affecting 850,318 vehicles, including some under the Lincoln brand, noting that the low-pressure fuel pump may fail, potentially causing the engine to stall, which could increase the risk of a crash. This comes a month after Ford recalled some 1.1 million vehicles for faulty backup camera images, but the fuel pump issue is mechanical, so it's going to take more than a software update. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article Ford estimates that 10% of the listed vehicles have the defect, so it's going to take a while to sift through all the repairs once a remedy is ready. In the meantime, owners of the following vehicles can expect to receive notification letters pertaining to recall 25S75 to be mailed on July 14: Ford Bronco (2021-2023) Ford Explorer (2021-2023) Ford Expedition (2022) Ford Mustang (2021-2022) Ford F-150 (2021-2022) Ford F-250 Super Duty (2021-2023) Ford F-350 Super Duty (2021-2023) Ford F-450 Super Duty (2021-2023) Ford F-550 Super Duty (2021-2023) Lincoln Navigator (2021-2022) Lincoln Aviator (2021-2023) Ford has received six customer complaints alleging a loss of power due to the fuel pump failure, but a remedy has not yet been found. Those who drive one of the abovementioned vehicles will want to take note of any misfires, lumpy idling, reduced power, or check engine lights. It's probably also best to ensure the gas tank isn't run close to empty, particularly in hot weather, as fuel pumps are cooled by the gasoline they feed, so low fuel levels or hot weather can hasten the pump's failure. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article We hate to harp on the continual struggles Ford is having with recalls, but if you're a Ford owner reading this, you may have missed other recent recalls that may impact your ownership experience. Last month, Ford recalled almost half a million Explorers for detaching trim and another 300,000 SUVs for seats that may move unexpectedly. Just in the past week, 20 different Ford and Lincoln models got hit with a rearview camera recall that is separate from the one mentioned at the outset. Of course, Ford is not the only automaker to suffer, but it's certainly called up by the NHTSA more often than 850,000 Ford Best-Sellers Have A Problem Pumping Gas first appeared on Autoblog on Jul 11, 2025 This story was originally reported by Autoblog on Jul 11, 2025, where it first appeared.
