A Step-By-Step Guide To Natural Goddess Glam

A Step-By-Step Guide To Natural Goddess Glam

Forbes25-07-2025
My favorite beauty look of summer is natural goddess glam. Think perfectly imperfect waves, sun-kissed skin, and a glow that radiates from within. Wondering how to get the natural goddess glam look for yourself? Here's my step-by-step guide!
1) Start your glam early.
Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleanser ($30), Exo + Ectoin Intensive Repair Baume ($69), and Triple ... More Lipid-Peptide Cream ($85)
It's (kind of) an industry secret that true glam starts the night (or week!) before the hair and makeup sesh. Start your glam the night before by creating a hydrated base for your makeup with a skincare routine that's safe for sensitive skin. Skinfix is all about protecting your skin barrier, and their Foaming Oil Cleanser removes all makeup without stripping your skin. Follow this up with the new Exo + Ectoin Intensive Repair Balm, which is a retinol-free treatment that acts like a retinol to smooth out the skin. Allow that step to sink in before adding your moisturizer on top. My favorite is of course, the Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream, and I also use this to prime my skin before I do my makeup.
2) Use filtered water for better hair and skin.
Canopy Handheld Filtered Showerhead Duo | $275
Canopy makes adding a filtered showerhead to your routine so easy, it's basically a necessity. It's been so important for my skin and hair personally to add this step. I've seen such a difference in my hair fullness and skin texture from using a filtered showerhead. I love Canopy showerheads, but especially this one because I can use the scalp massaging setting for that spa experience at home!
3) Create sleek volume for styling your hair.
Dyson Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer | $570
My hairstylist was using this hair dryer before its release, so I was thrilled to finally get my hands on it. This is my absolute must-have hair tool for goddess hair. Dyson's new hair dryer is their best one yet, with powerful air and no heat damage; my hair has never been healthier. I love using the included diffuser for more naturally defined curls, or the powerful air attachment for ultra shine. It's so convenient that it remembers the settings when you switch attachments! I finish the look with their Chitosan™ Post-Style Serum, which leaves my hair shiny and full.
4) Add gorgeous waves to your look.
ghd Chronos Curve Conical Wand | $259
A natural goddess needs hair that makes waves. For this look, I add some curls to my now sleek hair with the ghd Chronos Curve Conical Wand. It's important to use a conical wand for this look to create smooth and defined beachy waves that cascade over my shoulders. This wand is my pick because it holds my wavy style for days.
5) Prep your skin with an eye lift to look more awake.
Clarins Total Eye Lift Eye Cream | $95
After my skincare, I love to add in this at-home eye lift to make my eyes look more awake for the rest of the day and into the night. A product like this does wonders for your glam and will replace the typical under-eye patches that aren't always effective. This smooths the area and lifts, so my eye area is ready for makeup!
5) Create a natural face base that will prep your skin well.
Typology Tinted Care Trio for Complexion and Lips | $123
Typology's line of tinted skincare is my choice for a more natural-looking glam. Summer heat can make heavier foundations look wonky, so I always reach for my Typology products. A good concealer is the best way to start your face base, and their Tinted Concealer is perfect for this. It has a thicker texture with great coverage. I follow that up with the Tinted Serum, which is an amazing product for a makeup base as it looks even better the longer you wear it. It adapts to your skin to even out your complexion. Then I hydrate my lips with their Replenishing Balm as a base to prep my lips.
6) Blur and bronze the skin to make it glow.
Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder ($54) and Ambient™ Lighting Bronzer ($58)
For glam that lasts, Hourglass Cosmetics makes some truly stellar powder products. I use the Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder to set the under-eye area after applying concealer and create a blurred look. This is a fine, talc-free powder that doesn't make my skin look cakey, so I also apply it to my t-zone to diminish shine in the right places. A goddess glam wouldn't be complete without bronzer, too! I prefer a powder bronzer over creams, which don't last as well on my skin. The Ambient™ Lighting Bronzer is one of the best bronzers I've used, so it's the perfect way to glow up the skin for a lit-from-within bronzed finish.
7) Add bold colors in a subtle way.
AORA Mírame Eyeshadow Palette | $65
AORA's eyeshadows are out-of-this-world good. This palette is inspired by Mexico's opulence, and every artist should be adding this to their kit. I've never seen a silver eyeshadow like the one in this palette; it's stunning and lasts all day. Then add your favorite eyeliner and mascara. I love using the rich pink from the palette as my summer blush, and it's great for deeper skin tones. Plus, the brand is 100% plastic-free!
8) Add definition for a long-lasting lip with a natural shine.
DIBS Lip Service Set | $48
For the perfect lip to match your summer tan, DIBS is a wonderful option. The No Pressure Lip Liner lasts for hours on me, while the Jam Jam Lip plumps my lips so they look fuller longer. I love the versatile color options; it makes it so easy to choose a color no matter the skin tone.
9) Highlight your body to give it a healthy, hydrated look.
Josie Maran Pink Algae Pro-Retinol Body Butter | $42
I love using Josie Maran products for hydrating my skin, but the Pink Algae Pro-Retinol Body Butter has a consistency that makes my skin glow. The texture is thick but absorbs well, and the finish looks like you put on a high-end balm. Use this to add a shine to the skin that makes you look like an ethereal goddess.
10) Add a shimmer oil to bring out your skin's natural undertones.
+Lux Unfiltered N°30 High Gloss SPF 30 Oil | $44
For a shimmer that lasts from day to night, the Lux Unfiltered Oil Sunscreen is your girl. This is such a fun product to apply, as it's basically a shimmer oil with SPF 30. The flecks of shimmer and subtle bronze tint will emphasize any summer tan that you're already rocking.
11) Don't forget to show some love to your hands, too!
Lights Lacquer Pistachio Cuticle Oil Bundle | $25
You can have the prettiest nail polish in the world, but if you aren't hydrating your cuticles, it can fall flat. Lights Lacquer's cuticle oils smell amazing, and the formula is the most nourishing one I've tried. It's thick but absorbs in a way that isn't messy. Their cuticle oil pens are perfect to keep in your purse, wherever your glam may take you.

The Real Secret to Happiness in Midlife (Hint: It's Not Botox)

5 habits that have helped me feel happier and more fulfilled in midlife. Embarking on the journey to happiness in midlife, I learned something crucial: your external appearance is just a tiny piece of the puzzle. It's not the anti-aging creams, Botox shots, or cosmetic surgery that shape our happiness. What counts above all is the attitude we carry within us. Trust me, no cosmetic procedure can cover up a sour mood. And this is coming from someone who gets beauty treatments and loves them. Being happy in midlife and beyond is partly a choice. Here are some habits I've developed or returned to that help me feel more joyful and grounded as I age. Learn to recognize your faults This is one of the hardest lessons, but once you get used to it, it makes life easier. It improves your relationships, your self-awareness, and your ability to move forward. I'm not saying I get it right every time, but I've been working on this for decades. When I published my first book about my eating disorder at 30, I had to face some pretty uncomfortable truths about myself. That process cracked me open in the best way. Whether it's apologizing when I snap at a loved one or admitting when fear is driving my decisions, I've learned that taking ownership of my flaws helps me grow and connect more deeply with others. Don't be jaded I get it. Life throws punches. Maybe your parents had a rough marriage. Maybe your ex cheated. Maybe your former partner betrayed your trust. Maybe your business partner vanished with your money. You've been through it. So have I. But staying stuck in the story that life is unfair only ensures you won't move forward. Mourn it, process it, and then let it go. At 61, I feel I've lived enough to say this: healing is possible. I met the love of my life at 46, after one divorce and one long relationship that was toxic as can be. My husband and I blended three kids and built something we're proud of. I also took up improv theater and acting in my 50s, made new friends, and started saying yes to things that scared me. Cynicism would have robbed me of all of that. Be flexible Life rarely goes according to plan. And by midlife, you've probably noticed that already. If you're too rigid in your thinking, by the time you hit your 50s, you'll be so inflexible it won't be fun for you or anyone around you. I've had to pivot more than once: when I lost all my freelance income during the recession, when my site's revenue plummeted after a Google algorithm change, and again as the digital world kept evolving. Being flexible allowed me to reinvent myself again and again. Make your five-year plan, but don't be afraid to rewrite it halfway through. Develop a hobby Hobbies aren't just for fun. They're lifelines. They give us a creative outlet, a way to cope with stress, and sometimes even lead to new opportunities. I've had many: sketching, salsa dancing, yoga, writing fiction, and starting a blog. When I hit a low point in my 40s, it was blogging that helped me climb out of it, and it eventually became my career. You never know where a hobby might take you. But even if it never leads to anything more, it's still worth it. Joy matters. Count your blessings Gratitude won't erase hardship, but it will help you through it. When I was a newly single mom on welfare, I started keeping a gratitude journal. Some days, all I could write was, 'I showered today.' Other times it was, 'A friend bought me gas,' or 'I got a new freelance gig.' Slowly, those moments stacked up and helped shift my focus. To this day, I jot down three things I'm thankful for each morning. It doesn't make me immune to bad days, but it helps me find the good even in the mess. Solve the daily Crossword

8 Affordable Small Cities To Retire in Florida

Some retirees dream of jet-setting across the globe to explore faraway destinations, while others envision their golden years spent somewhere warm, relaxing and affordable. Thanks to no state income tax and zero taxes on Social Security and pensions, plus year-round sunshine, Florida continues to rank as one of the most retiree-friendly states, especially for those living on a fixed income. Tyra Banks, David Beckham, Jessica Biel stun fans with shock habits

Tyra Banks doesn't think there is ever a bad time to snack. During a recent appearance on "Today with Jenna & Friends," the former Victoria's Secret model shared that she loves getting into bed with her mom and snacking on ice cream and popcorn. Host Jenna Bush Hager then admitted she "isn't into eating in bed" because she is "a little bit of a messy eater" and will get crumbs everywhere. "I clean crumbs by eating them, because if you put it in the trash, I'm like, 'You might get roaches or something.' So just clean it up with your finger and eat it," Banks responded, adding "if it's not super perishable." "Like popcorn? C'mon. That's like astronaut food, it lasts forever. You just pick it up. I'm not joking." The "America's Next Top Model" host isn't the only celebrity to admit to their stunning habits, with Martha Stewart sharing she's always wearing a bathing suit to Jessica Simpson confessing she brushes her teeth a few times per week. Here are some of the most shocking habits celebrities have admitted to. David Beckham has spoken about his need for everything to be organized on a number of occasions. When speaking to a panel in Florida for the launch of his supplement brand, IM8, Beckham admitted to being so organized, "to the point where it's quite tiring every single day," per Page Six. He later joked that his need for perfection "annoys" his wife and kids sometimes. He initially spoke about his organizational habits in an episode of his four-part Netflix documentary, "Beckham." "I've got this obsessive compulsive disorder where I have to have everything in a straight line or everything has to be in pairs," he explained in an episode. "I'll put my Pepsi cans in the fridge and if there's one too many then I'll put it in another cupboard somewhere … everything has to be perfect." Stewart made a surprising confession when speaking with Page Six in February 2024. While speaking to the outlet, Steward admitted she likes to wear "bathing suits under my clothes" in case she gets the opportunity to go swimming. "Bathing suits are my underwear," she explained. "I don't wear any of that structured stuff. No tight lace, no Skims for Martha. But I love Skims. I think they serve a very good purpose – but I don't wear those. I only wear Aerie bathing suits under my clothes." She later joked that Kim Kardashian might be mad at her for saying that, before assuring herself, "No, she won't be mad at me. She knows I don't wear Skims." Simpson has unique habits when it comes to her oral hygiene. During an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in May 2010, the "Take My Breath Away" singer shared she only brushes her teeth "maybe three times a week." "My teeth are so white, and I don't like them to feel too slippery, but I do use Listerine, and I do floss every day," she said on the show. "But I don't brush them every day. I'll use a shirt or something ... I know it's gross, but I always have fresh breath." The singer admitted that her routine is "really weird" but maintained that she doesn't like brushing because it makes her teeth "too slippery" and she feels like her "lips are sliding all over the place." Jessica Biel is all about multitasking. In a January 2024 TikTok video, the "7th Heaven" star shared her best tips for eating in the shower, saying she wants to start "a shower-eating movement," believing it will "be a relief in so many ways." "I like to take a bite or a sip and put it on the ledge, and then you do your thing. You wash your hair — keep the soap out — that's a big deal. It's pretty simple, guys. You can do this. I find it deeply satisfying," she said. She continued: "The only tricky thing is that when you're chewing, you got to keep your mouth closed because I still like to get under the water while I'm chewing, and for whatever reason, I want to open my mouth at the same time and spit water." The actress confessed to snacking in the shower when she posted a now-deleted photo of an empty plate with utensils on it and a cup of coffee sitting on the ledge of her shower, captioning the post, "Yes. I eat in the shower. I admit it." Angelina Jolie has an eccentric taste when it comes to her food. In a video shared by the BBC in February 2017, the "Maria" actress can be seen cooking up spiders and scorpions on a stove with her children while in Cambodia. "I first had them when I was first in country," she said. "Crickets — you start with crickets. Crickets and a beer, and then you kind of move up to tarantulas." She even gave her children tips on how to best prepare spiders, telling them "See the hard part where you have the teeth? Take the fangs out." She then split a spider with her children and shared that the scorpion was "hard to chew." Her son, Knox, compared the bugs to "flavorless chips." Paris Hilton sent shockwaves through social media when she shared her "trick" when it comes to eating pizza. In a May 2025 TikTok video, Hilton can be seen picking up a slice of pizza and dropping it upside down on top of a pizza box in order to get the excess grease off of it, telling viewers, "that's my trick," before picking it up and taking a bite. "I'm full of #Sliving tips #ThatsHot," she captioned the post. While some fans were impressed by her party trick, others were concerned about the idea of putting her food on a dirty pizza box. "It was a brand new pizza box, so it wasn't from some random place," she says on the red carpet at the premiere of her movie "The Trainer" in June. "[The pizza box] was for the photo shoot." She stood by her trick, saying, "It is a good hack."
