What Happened on Young and the Restless Today? Cane Faces Scrutiny Over Damian
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) walked into the maze and stumbled upon Damian (Richard Burgi) doubled over in Cane's (Daniel Goddard) arms. He had a dagger lodged in his back, and despite their attempts to check for a pulse, it was clear that he was dead.
Phyllis questioned if she should attempt CPR, but Cane told her it wouldn't help. As he paced, Cane explained that he hadn't stabbed Damian, and they had been drinking and talking when things took a sudden, violent turn.
Phyllis wondered if the drink had been poisoned, but Cane denied it, stating that he'd been drinking the same thing. They realized that the dagger had been thrown from a distance, and neither of them had seen who was responsible. Cane was adamant that Damian had likely not been the intended victim, but he was the only one with a clear motive for the attack.

Cane quickly left to find Chance (Conner Floyd), and on the train, Devon (Bryton James) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) were having a drink and discussing how they had been trying to treat their stay like a vacation, though the novelty was wearing off. Chance had been hiking a lot, and the group discussed the lack of progress on the case.
They speculated that Cane's newfound wealth might have made him paranoid. Devon and Abby tried to focus on the positives, like their upcoming return to their loved ones, but Chance was still busy trying to figure out what had happened to Damian.
Phyllis and Cane rushed in, looking for Amanda (Mishael Morgan), and Cane asked to speak with Chance privately. This left Abby and Devon wondering what had gone wrong.

In the dining area, Lily (Christel Khalil) confronted Amanda, questioning whether Cane had put Damian through the ringer over their relationship. Amanda assured Lily that Damian could handle himself, but the two debated Cane's motives.
Lily admitted that she still had concerns about Cane's behavior and how he had been acting toward her. Amanda acknowledged that Cane was deeply in love with her and would go to great lengths to win her back.
However, Lily insisted that she had moved on. She had found someone special in Damian, and the idea of returning to Cane was out of the question.

Cane returned to the scene with Chance, showing him Damian's body and pointing out that the dagger was missing. He recounted how they had been drinking and discussing Lily when they both started to feel woozy, and suddenly, Damian had been stabbed.
Cane was certain that the attack was meant for him, not Damian. Chance, still skeptical, questioned whether they had been poisoned or if the alcohol had simply made them dizzy. Cane insisted that no one had had access to the drink except them, and they both agreed that the dagger must have been removed by the killer.
They speculated that whoever had thrown it had returned to take it, but Chance needed more evidence. Cane revealed that the dagger was part of his personal collection, which raised more red flags.
Back in the maze, Phyllis ran into Nick (Joshua Morrow), who was looking for Sharon (Sharon Case). Phyllis, seemingly rattled, admitted that there were serious life-and-death issues at play.
Nick was concerned but didn't fully understand what was going on. Lily arrived and asked if Phyllis had seen Damian. Phyllis stood speechless as Cane and Chance appeared, bringing Damian's body on a stretcher.
Lily demanded to see who was under the sheet, and she gasped when she saw that it was Damian. The revelation of Damian's death stunned everyone.

Shannon Sharpe will not return to ESPN as a commentator on 'First Take'
Shannon Sharpe will not be returning to ESPN, according to a person with knowledge of the situation who is not authorized to publicly discuss it. The development comes weeks after the former NFL star settled a $50-million lawsuit that accused him of rape. Attorney Tony Buzbee, whose firm represented the woman who filed the civil lawsuit against Sharpe earlier this year, announced the settlement on July 18 in a statement posted on Instagram. Sharpe's legal team said at the time that Buzbee's statement should be considered the 'final word' on the matter. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. Read more: Shannon Sharpe settles $50 million lawsuit with woman who accused him of rape The lawsuit was filed on April 20 in Clark County in Nevada. Sharpe's accuser sought damages for claims of assault, sexual assault, battery, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress after multiple alleged non-consensual sexual encounters in her Las Vegas apartment between October and January. The sports media personality has denied the allegations. He announced days after the lawsuit was filed that he was temporarily stepping away from his duties as a commentator on ESPN's 'First Take' but would return in time for the 2025 NFL season. At that time, an ESPN spokesperson said in a statement emailed to The Times that 'this is a serious situation, and we agree with Shannon's decision to step away.' Sharpe has remained on his popular podcasts 'Club Shay Shay' and 'Nightcap.' The Athletic was the first to report that Sharpe won't be returning to ESPN. Gunman who opened fire in a NYC skyscraper bought his $1,400 gun from his casino boss
The gunman who opened fire in a New York City skyscraper, killing four people, including an off-duty cop, bought his $1,400 gun from his boss at a Las Vegas casino where he had worked, according to officials. Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old from Nevada, had driven cross-country over the weekend and then walked into a Midtown Manhattan building, which houses NFL offices, on Monday, where he fatally shot people in the lobby and on the 33rd floor before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Police have been trying to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, though a motive is still unclear. Tamura had worked in the surveillance department of the Horseshoe Casino, the Associated Press reported. The M4 assault rifle that police said he used in the shooting was purchased from the man who supervised him at the casino, The New York Times reported, citing New York police officials. In a briefing to reporters, police did not say whether the gun sale was illegal. They said the seller was not being charged in New York and was cooperating with law enforcement. According to a CNN report, citing a law enforcement official, Tamura's supervisor also sold him the car that he used to drive to New York. That official said the gun was first purchased by Tamura's boss legally. The Independent has reached out to Caesars Entertainment, which owns the Horseshoe, and the New York City Police Department for comment. Tamura was raised in Santa Clarita, California, where he played high school football. In a note discovered by authorities, Tamura claimed he was suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease linked to former athletes with repeated head trauma. CTE can only be diagnosed after death, with no specific symptoms tied to the disease present while a victim is alive. 'Terry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of can't go against the NFL, they'll squash you,' the note reportedly read, in part. Long was a Pittsburgh Steelers player who died by suicide in 2005 after drinking antifreeze. Officials said CTE contributed to his death. Tamura had a 'documented mental health history,' according to officials, and his old teammate, Tobenna Okunna, told The Independent, 'I do remember Shane taking some big hits' on the field.

Countdown Counters a Steamy Amber/ Mark Scene With Frightful Cliffhanger
The following contains spoilers from the July 30 episode of , now streaming on Prime Video. Countdown Episode 8 (of 13) came thisclose to throwing two team members into bed, before leaving viewers with one gut punch of a cliffhanger. More from TVLine Destination X Winner Revealed! Grade Season 1 and the Finale Countdown's Elliot Knight Breaks Down That Bell/Valwell Bait-and-Snitch: 'His Eye Is on the Prize' Gen V Season 2 Trailer Reveals Ethan Slater's Casting, Starlight's Mission for Marie and a Chance Perdomo Tribute 'The Nail in the Chair' opened with flashbacks to 2021, where we witnessed the beginnings of Volchek (Bogdan Yasinski) making his tiny mark in America, by scooping up a fleet of Los Angeles parking lots to funnel money through. That plan proved ill-fated, however, when he got caught trying to bribe a city official. Irate at being deprived of the American dream (coupled with everything else he had lost), he killed his heretofore-helpful lawyer in a fiery car explosion, and set out on his plan of vengeance…. In the present day, we saw Volchek test law enforcement response times by having a hired hand park a skinned 'American Postal Service' truck outside the federal building. As the task force scouted out the scene, Blythe (Eric Dane) repeatedly reprimanded Meachum (Jensen Ackles) for getting too close to the potentially explosive truck — which happened to interrupt Mark telling his SAC about his tumor. Afterwards, Bell (Elliot Knight) got a bead on a property where Volchek & Co. are likely storing the other skinned trucks. (That earned him an appreciated 'Attaboy!' from SAC Blythe.) By the time the team arrived at the remote location, the barn was empty, but there was evidence (many emptied bags of fertilizer) to underscore the magnitude of the threat at hand. Blythe sent his team home to catch up on sleep ahead of an assuredly busy 48-hour shift. Meachum invited Oliveras (Jessica Camacho) to spare herself some commuting time by crashing at his place — he'll 'take the sofa' and all that — but after an exchange of looks that screamed, 'We would not wind up sleeping,' Amber declined. For one, she needs to sleep with a white noise machine (that Mark generously offered to imitate); secondly, she snarked, 'I'm not Melinda Bates' (as in Mark's ex-girlfriend) 'or her sister Rachel' (with whom he cheated on Melinda). 'So that wouldn't work.' Blythe meanwhile used the latest gathering of evidence — and some strong-armed nudges from D.C. politicians — to leverage Belarusian consul general Astapov into coughing up his file on Volcheck. Astapov agreed, and (as we all do!) had handy the location of a random alley at which he and Buh-lyyythe should meet that night. When Blythe rolled up, he found Astapov dead behind the wheel of his sedan, sporting a Colombian necktie. Blythe barely had a chance to react when he turned to find himself on the receiving end of a dagger being twisted into his side by Volchek. Spooked by passing headlights, Volchek sauntered away, while a stunned Blythe slowly slumped to the pavement, the blade sticking through his suit jacket and looking not easily extractable….
