X Factor winner to release first album in over ten years as they make huge return to the music industry

Daily Maila day ago
X Factor winner Leona Lewis is set to release her first album in over ten years.
The singer, 40, who won the third series of the talent show in 2006, went on to achieve success in the music industry but chose to take an extended break and focus on other projects.
Speaking in a new interview, she revealed when fans can expect to hear her new material after being in the studio for the last year.
Leona told The Sun during a Q&A at 180 House in London: 'I've been in the studio since last year now.
'I'm pretty deep in the process and I'm producing everything, writing everything, so it's very new territory for me.
'But there definitely will be something next year. It means that it's very unfiltered. It's very raw.'
Her debut studio album, Spirit, became one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s and the lead single, Bleeding Love, was the best-selling single of 2007.
Leona went on to release four more studio albums, her most recent, titled I Am, dropping in 2015.
She was the first British female solo artist to reach the top five with eight singles, beating out Olivia Newton-John's record of seven.
During her break from the music industry Leona has been focusing on her other projects, charity work and motherhood.
In December 2019, Leona and her husband, Dennis Jauch, opened a vegan cafe in Pasadena called Coffee and Plants, partnering with the National Forest Association to plant a tree for every cup they sell.
They expanded to their second location in Studio City earlier this year and the cafe also works in partnership with Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, with proceeds of select items donated to the charity.
The couple are also proud parent's to daughter Carmel, three.
The announcement comes after Leona revealed a brand-new Las Vegas residency at Voltaire following in the footsteps of Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera and Jason Derulo.
The Grammy-nominated singer will take to the stage at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas this holiday season with, A Starry Night, performing her first ever live shows in the United States.
Leona will transform the glitz hotel into a winter wonderland for a set of exclusive performances running from November 1 until January 3.
The X Factor winner will perform her hits Bleeding Love, Better In Time and Christmas classic One More Sleep during the Christmas spectacular at the intimate venue.
The British star said it is a 'dream' come true to have her own show in Sin City, which has been 'years in the making'.
She said: 'I'm elated to bring this show to Voltaire as it's been years in the making, made specially for my fans.
'Christmas has always been such a special time for me and my family and there's nothing quite like the energy of Las Vegas during the holidays. Can't wait to take the stage!'
Sharing the news on Instagram, Leona added: 'A dream, years in the making. Coming to life in Vegas this November!
'I am so excited to officially announce my residency at Voltaire at @venetianvegas. Can't wait to share this new chapter with you'.
The Grammy-nominated singer will take to the stage at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas this holiday season with, A Starry Night, performing her first ever live shows in the United States
A Starry Night is intended for all ages with general admission tickets starting at $75 (£56) with VIP packages also available for purchase from August 1.
Over at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace this Christmas Dolly Parton will be taking to the stage for her residency with prices ranging from £1,500 to £4,000.
Leona will also follow the likes of Adele, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Cher, Janet Jackson, Bruno Mars and many more.
However it was Britney Spears' Britney: Piece of Me residency in Sin City, which ran for four years from 2013 at the Axis at Planet Hollywood, that caught Leona's eye originally 11 years ago.
Despite it being unknown what Leona will be paid for her 33 date residency, she admitted back in 2014 she would be very keen to have her own show due to the staggering paycheck.

Spider-Man team arrives in UK city to film 'after being forced to change location'

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to be released next year and filming, featuring the likes of Zendaya, will reportedly be underway in Glasgow from tomorrow The upcoming Spider-Man sequel is reportedly set to begin filming in the UK later this week. The likes of Tom Holland and co-star Zendaya expected to be on location for the production, which has seen a city transformed into another. ‌ Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is a sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), is due to be released on July 31 next year. It will mark the fourth solo film starring Tom, 29, as Peter Parker, who goes by the titular superhero name. ‌ It was previously announced that Glasgow would be used as a location for the film. It's now been reported that filming will begin in the city, which will appear as New York, later this week. The news comes amid the Devil Wears Prada sequel having begun filming in the actual New York City. ‌ READ MORE: Harry Potter films ranked from best to worst including 'greatest masterpiece' Photos of Glasgow show the city having been transformed into New York City for the production. It includes flags, roadworks and street signs having been introduced, as well as international vehicles being spotted in the area too. The Sun reports that it was originally due to be filmed in Liverpool. It however claims that it was later decided to relocate the production after the Liverpool FC victory parade crash in May that left more than 100 people injured. ‌ A source told the outlet that production has "started," adding: "It's really exciting for film fans living in Glasgow as they will see their city in the next movie." They said that it's "uncanny" how much the city now looks like the Big Apple. The source went on to say: "Originally the plan was to film a lot of it in Liverpool but after the crash, they changed the plans." They added: "There were discussions about whether it was appropriate to stage big stunts, including car chases and explosions, in light of the awful incident." According to the Herald, filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day is due to begin in the city tomorrow. It reports that a number of roads in Glasgow are due to be closed off to accommodate the production between August 1 and 16. ‌ Tom previously confirmed that Glasgow would be used for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He also shared her excitement over getting to film on location again, after having worked exclusively on soundstages for the last Spider-Man film. In an interview for news outlet Flip Your Wig, shared on Instagram earlier this month, Tom said: "We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID." He said that the "entire" film had been shot on stages. He said: "Now, we're really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations - which is why we're starting in Glasgow. We're gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we're putting together." Tom is set to lead the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside his fiancée Zendaya, who plays Michelle Jones-Watson, known as MJ, in the franchise. Jacob Batalon is also expected to reprise his role as Ned Leeds in the film.

I played The Traitors (and was terrible at it)

N ormally, when you and nine work colleagues find yourselves blindfolded in a Soho basement, you know it's probably about time to knock the office Christmas party on the head, but we're just getting started. There's also a man in thick mascara skulking about behind our heads, saying ominous things about lying and killing. Some of us — an unknown number — are to be tapped on the shoulder and lured ever further into the realm of darkness. This is The Traitors Live Experience, based on the centuries-old parlour game that became a smash hit TV show all over the world and is now, almost, a parlour game again, albeit one with extremely high production values and excellent cocktails. It is not yet three years since The Traitors made its first appearance on UK TV, turning a Scottish Highlands castle hotel and Claudia Winkleman's collection of fingerless gloves into cultural artefacts of equal value. It was itself a remake of the Dutch original, De Verraders, which debuted in 2021.
