ESPN's Jeff Passan quickly checked in on the matter and assured fans there was no imminent deal, and Duran was not saying goodbye to his teammates.
"Jhoan Durán has not been traded," Passan wrote on X. "He was just hugging his bullpen catcher because that's what friends do sometimes."
The lighthearted moment captured in the Twins' bullpen offered a strong reminder of the hyperfixation that comes with the deadline each year. While that move didn't come yet, Minnesota should be active as sellers with plenty of arms in Durán, Joe Ryan and Griffin Jax as candidates to be moved Thursday.
The Twins already made a trade within the American League Central earlier in the week when they dealt Chris Paddack to the Detroit Tigers.
