Bosnia's wanted Serb leader Dodik arrives in Moscow

, despite an
arrest warrant
against him over accusations he flouted the divided Balkan nation's constitution.
"Moscow is a beautiful city," Dodik, a Kremlin ally and leader of
Bosnia
's Serb statelet, wrote on X, while Russian media published footage of him at the airport.
Dodik, 66, is wanted by Bosnia's central judiciary after a series of secessionist moves, but continues to defy an arrest warrant issued in mid-March.
Since the end of its ethnic war in the 1990s, Bosnia remains split into two highly autonomous halves -- the Serbs' Republika Srpska (RS) and a Muslim-Croat Federation -- linked by a weak central government.
It was previously announced that the RS delegation in Moscow would also include the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljka Cvijanovic, and the Speaker of the RS Assembly, Nenad Stevandic -- who is also wanted on suspicion of "attacking the constitutional order" in Bosnia.
Dodik previously visited Moscow at the end of March.
The RS president, who has led the Serb statelet since 2006, was sentenced in February to one year in prison and banned from holding political office for six years for failing to comply with decisions of the international high representative who oversees the peace accord in Bosnia.
He rejected the trial as "political" and responded by banning the federal police and judiciary from operating in the Serb statelet.
Federal prosecutors deemed his actions secessionist and opened an investigation, but he has not been arrested because of the risk of destabilising the fragile Balkan nation.
Leaders from around 25 countries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, are expected to attend the military parade in Moscow on Friday.
Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic also arrived in Moscow, where he will meet Vladimir Putin despite warnings from the European Union that it would look unfavourably on countries engaging with Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.

Reacting to the minister's latest remarks, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said as quoted by PTI, "If he has made such a comment, it is inappropriate for ministers to speak in this manner. We have taken corrective measures in the crop insurance scheme as we saw insurance companies benefitting and not farmers." NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule also criticised Kokate's comments, calling them insensitive. "It is an insult to the hard work of all the chief ministers of the state so far and the people of the state. We will never tolerate this insult," she said in a post on X. Last week, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar shared a video that appeared to show minister Kokate playing Rummy on his phone during the monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature. The following day, Jitendra Awhad also posted two more videos, claiming Kokate was playing 'Junglee Rummy' during the proceedings. Dismissing the allegations, Kokate told PTI, "I don't know how to play online rummy. One needs an OTP, and a bank account needs to be linked to play the game. One can check if my mobile phone is linked to any such game. I was trying to skip a game which popped up on my screen for 10 to 15 seconds," He also threatened legal action against opposition leaders for allegedly defaming him by circulating the video. When asked about the mounting calls for his resignation, Kokate pushed back strongly, saying, "Tell me what has happened for which the resignation has been demanded. Have I molested someone? Have I stolen something or decided against farmers? Do I have a criminal background?" Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis also voiced disapproval over the video, prompting a response from Kokate, who said, as cited by PTI, "The CM's reaction is based on media reports. It's true I didn't brief him". Kokate maintained he has followed legislative rules for the past 25 years, but legal trouble continues to mount. A magistrate court in Nashik district recently convicted Kokate and his brother Sunil Kokate for submitting fake documents to secure flats under a government quota. They were sentenced to two years of imprisonment. Their conviction was stayed by the district court on March 5.

Delhi Hikes Cash Reward For Olympic Winners, Approves Free Laptop Scheme For Students
New Delhi: The Delhi government has hiked the cash awards for Olympic and Paralympic medallists from the national capital, minister Ashish Sood said on Tuesday. Mr Sood also announced the approval of the Mukhyamantri Digital Scheme to provide free laptops to meritorious students. The decisions were taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat here. "Today, under the leadership of CM Rekha Gupta, a Cabinet meeting was held. Various important decisions were taken for Delhi's development, students and youth," Mr Sood told a press conference. "There were historic decisions taken under the Mukhyamantri Khel Prothsahan Yojana. Olympic and Paralympic medal winners were awarded Rs 3 crore, Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore earlier... to encourage the sports ecosystem, Olympic gold medallists will now be given Rs 7 crore, silver medallists Rs 5 crore and bronze medallists Rs 3 crore," he said. Mr Sood announced that the Gold and Silver medallists will be given Group A jobs while the bronze medallists will be given Group B jobs in the Delhi government. Mr Sood also announced that under the Mukhyamantri Digital Scheme, free laptops would be provided to students to ensure the holistic development of the youth. "As many as 1,200 meritorious students who have passed Class 10 with good marks will be given i7 laptops. This will benefit students from underprivileged backgrounds," he added.
