According to The Sun, the low viewing figures were a surprise as Out There was produced by production company Buffalo Pictures, which has had past success.
Buffalo Pictures has previously worked on hit shows, Manhunt and Doc Martin, which Clunes starred in.
Confirming that Out There would not return, an ITV spokesperson said: "We are really proud of Out There and would like to thank Martin and the production team for delivering a brilliant series.
'We do always hope to see our series return, and we are sorry we didn't get this drama to connect with a big enough audience to see that happen.'
Out There was a six-part series that explored the problem of drug dealers working in rural areas and crossing county lines.

Loose Women's Jane Moore wows in £98 'perfect' summer dress that's down to £49
With Boden offering a huge discount on Jane Moore's dress, we suggest snapping up the stand-out summer style while it's still in stock Loose Women panellist Jane Moore recently proved that summer dressing doesn't have to be complicated. The ITV presenter, 63, wore a heatwave-ready dress from Boden, chosen by celebrity stylists Gemma & Bertie. In a photo shared to Instagram last week, Jane could be seen posing with her Loose Women co-hosts and their guest for Wednesday's show on July 9: Rizzle Kicks star Jordan Stephens. And we've been swooning over the blonde TV icon's sophisticated Boden midi is now 50% off. Her exact piece was the Ada Double Cloth Midi Dress, which would usually set shoppers back £98, but has been reduced to £49. This floaty number features gathered sleeves, a smocked neckline, pockets and a removeable tie-front belt that helps create the look of an hourglass figure. With its bold purple hue and the choice of petite, regular and tall lengths available, Jane's Boden dress strikes the ultimate balance between making a statement and being wonderfully wearable. It comes in a wide selection of UK sizes, ranging from four to 22. Meanwhile, there are some lovely alternatives we spotted from high-street brands, including this cheaper Broderie Anglaise Marla Midi Dress from Nobody's Child. Now £75 down from an original £150. It has a round neck, short puff sleeves and a fabric belt at the waist. Another style similar to Boden's is the Crinkle Textured Puff Sleeve Belted Midi Dress from New Look, £29.99, which also has a waist-cinching tie belt. Fashion fans have been taking to Boden's website to heap praise on the Ada dress seen on Jane. Hailing it as 'perfect'. One delighted reviewer said: "Best dress I have had for very long time, size 10 petite fits me perfectly, I'm 5ft 1. Lovely colour and very cool to wear." Another penned: "I love the colour of this dress. The fabric is soft and comfortable. "It fits well. I am size 8 and five foot four in height and it is perfect." However, there were some sizing issues pointed out by customers, with person saying they returned the Ada dress. Their three-star review reads: "Lovely dress and colour and love the material - ordered the green. However it just didn't sit right on me, and wasn't flattering, I'm a size 12." For those who aren't entirely sure which size to go for, Boden's website has a handy guide with exact measurements for each of its garments, as well as further details for every size.

This Morning star dealt crushing blow as new ITV series pushed back
Last year, it was announced that This Morning star Ben Shephard was going to be the face of a new reality game show called The Summit. This Morning: Ben Shephard cuts to break amid Johnny Vegas chaos It looks as though there's bad news for This Morning's Ben Shephard as his new series has reportedly been pushed back. Titled The Summit, the reality programme will see 14 strangers compete to win a share of £200,000 while climbing a mountain in New Zealand. Ben took a brief hiatus from his hosting role on This Morning at the end of last year while he was filming the series as he appeared via a live video link to explain his absence. Although The Summit was originally set to air in 2025, it seems as though the launch date has been pushed back to 2026. It's reported that the reason behind the delay is down to scheduling conflicts, according to TVZone. The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment. Sharing his excitement about the show in the past, Ben commented: "This series really has got it all; the contestants are going to be tested in every possible way as they try and take on the mountain. "They'll need a serious amount of grit, determination and strategy if they want to reach The Summit. Most people know how much I love exercise and adventure, but this is taking it to another level. "I'll be donning my mountain gear to check in with them as they battle up the mountain and do their best to combat the demands of the ominous Mountain's Keeper. I can't wait to see how they get on because anyone who reaches The Summit will have seriously earned every penny of the prize fund." ITV Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions Paul Mortimer teased that The Summit will have viewers gripped with 'nail-biting' scenes. He said: "Not only is this a huge and complex endurance test for the contestants, overseen by the wonderful Ben Shephard, it's going to be an absolute nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat watch for viewers at home. "Filled with cliffhangers, shocks, twists and turns, it's going to keep people guessing from the very first step of the trek to that final summit." Ben is set to be absent from TV screens over the next few weeks as the ITV star is taking a break from This Morning for the summer. Both Ben and Cat are expected to return once again in September with a plethora of stars taking over. This Morning announced that viewers can expect to see the likes of Emma Willis, Rylan Clark, Sian Welby, Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle and Olivia Attwood front the show.

ITV Coronation Street fans say 'she's a star' as they all issue same demand
Coronation Street viewers have been left in awe of the acting skills of one of the soap's youngest cast members, as they called for the character to be given a bigger role Coronation Street fans are singing the praises of a 'star' performer following the ITV show's latest gripping scenes, where Mick Michaelis masterminded a daring prison escape, leading to an outpouring of support for the actress. The character made his first appearance on the cobbles in February, chasing after his wife, Lou Michaelis, as they set up their new life on the street. Dubbed the fresh "nightmare neighbours" by fans, the couple were not shy about causing a stir, and they certainly lived up to that reputation during their brief time on the cobbles, just behind Gemma and Chesney Winter-Brown's place. More recently, Corrie has been dropping hints about the villain's comeback, following his arrest in May's episodes for the cold-blooded murder of the innocent PC Craig Tinker in a fit of drunken anger. In a turn of events that unfolded on Monday (July 14), Mick managed to break free from prison and was plotting to flee with Lou and their kids - Brody, Joanie, and Shanice, reports the Manchester Evening News. With nothing left to lose, the desperate criminal was a threat to anyone who crossed his path. His initial stop was Weatherfield High, but upon discovering that his daughter Joanie had been taken home from school by Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), he made a beeline for the cobbles. In league with Brody, the teenager alerted him to his daughter Joanie's presence at Weatherfield High, where she was having a trial day and being bullied by other children. He promptly arrived at the school. However, Sally Metcalfe had already collected Joanie after the young girl was upset by cruel comments about her parents, given that Lou is now also incarcerated for her assault on Gary Windass. Daniel and Mrs Crawshaw were taken aback when they encountered Mick, who demanded they hand over Joanie. A frightened Mrs Crawshaw informed Mick that Joanie had already been collected, but he didn't believe her, leading to a struggle over the phone. After locking Mrs Crawshaw and Daniel in the office, Mick made his way to the street, where Sally was introducing Joanie to Underworld. DC Kit Green, aware of Mick's escape, was hot on his trail and spotted his old friend heading towards the factory. Mick took Tim Metcalfe and Sarah Platt hostage in the office, and as Kit followed, tensions escalated between the adversaries when Mick realised that Sally had smuggled Joanie onto the roof in an attempt to flee. Sally was seen comforting the young girl amidst the chaos unfolding below in the factory, with Mick stabbing Kit and leaving him fighting for his life as he ascended to the roof, where Sally was able to calmly confront him with some hard truths. Sally's heartfelt promise to Mick to care for Joanie and Shanice, ensuring a brighter future for the girls as he surrendered to the police, marked a poignant moment in the show. The performance of the actors, especially newcomer Savanna Pennington who portrays Joanie, has been met with widespread acclaim, particularly considering her recent on-screen debut. One Reddit user was quick to express admiration: "Wow can i just say Joanie Michaelis acting tonight was amazing. Her first real appearance in the show and she done very well. Her ability to use her eyes to tell a story is great really looking forward to seeing her in the future!" Another viewer said: "It a shame she missed out for being nominated for the Inside Soap awards as she wasn't really developed as a character on time, however hopefully she wins plenty of awards in the future as she is a star!" while a different account added: "Absolutely agree. I hope she stays with Sally. She's got great promise. Sally was superb tonight too." Over on X (formerly known as Twitter), a different account put: "I'll be the one to say Joanie aka Savanna Pennington put on an impressive performance tonight for someone young and her first dramatic scenes on the show! #Corrie." Meanwhile another user added: "Savanna Pennington who plays Joanie Michaelis is a brilliant young actress. They couldn't have paired her with anyone better than Sally Dynevor. Beautiful scenes between them tonight and hopefully more to come. #Corrie." Savanna, the young actress behind Joanie, took to Instagram to share some exclusive behind-the-scenes snaps, inviting fans to "Swipe for some behind the scenes." She added: "One of my favourite episodes yet! .. not bias. Thank you to all amazing cast and crew @coronationstreet for making it so much fun! Even though it may not look like I was having much fun I really was @thedramamob." Sydney Martin, known for her role as Betsy Swain in Corrie, didn't hold back her admiration, commenting: "You smashed it sweetheart! Very talented! !"
