Deborra-Lee Furness Files For Divorce From Hugh Jackman

Buzz Feed28-05-2025
It looks like Deborra-Lee Furness has officially filed for divorce from Hugh Jackman.
The pair — who were married for almost 30 years and share two children — announced their separation in a joint statement to People back in 2023. 'We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,' they said.
Last October, Deborra briefly opened up about her life post-split, telling People at a Force of Nature: The Dry 2 screening that she's learned that she's 'strong and resilient.' When asked about her future in a separate interview, she said, 'Change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it, but I think it is probably our greatest gift.'
Meanwhile, Hugh has remained pretty quiet since the separation — though he's reportedly dating his ex-Broadway costar Sutton Foster, whom he's been pictured out with numerous times in recent months.
Now, multiple outlets have reported that Deborra officially filed for divorce from Hugh on May 23 in New York. According to People, Deborra's lawyer, Elena Karabatos, submitted filings related to the exes' health care coverage, settlement, and medical child support, which indicate that the terms of their divorce are uncontested.
Deborra apparently said in a statement, 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.' BuzzFeed has reached out to Deborra's reps for comment.
We'll keep you posted if anything else unfolds.

Manhattan's first Hyatt Regency opens in Times Square

This story was originally published on Hotel Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Hotel Dive newsletter. Dive Brief: Hyatt Hotels opened Hyatt Regency Times Square, the upper-upscale brand's first property in Manhattan, on Tuesday, the hotel company announced in a news release. Owned by Argent Ventures and managed by Highgate, the 795-key hotel debuted after a multimillion-dollar renovation of 1605 Broadway, the former site of a Crowne Plaza hotel. Paying homage to the surrounding neighborhood, the Hyatt Regency features modern design elements, including Broadway-influenced artwork, as well as a 'Mamma Mia'-themed guest room ahead of the musical's return to the theater district next month. The hotel joins more than 30 Hyatt hotels open in New York City. Hyatt has recently expanded its Regency brand with openings and renovations in top urban destinations across the country. Dive Insight: Hyatt Regency Times Square is intended to be a destination for both business and leisure travelers, with a new lobby designed for visitors to dine, work, socialize and relax, according to Hyatt. Lucid, Highgate's design and construction group, led the project's development, while architecture firm Gensler oversaw design and construction execution alongside Hyatt. The hotel's design was inspired by the surrounding Broadway theater district, including a Greek isle-themed 'Mamma Mia' room aimed at 'providing an immersive experience for theater and film fans,' according to Hyatt. All of the hotel's guest rooms, including the 969-square-foot penthouse suite, offer New York City views. The Hyatt Regency also offers multiple dining concepts, including a lobby restaurant that transitions from a daytime cafe to an evening lounge and a grab-and-go market. Another lounge is set to open featuring cocktails and shareable plates. The hotel also has one of the largest hotel fitness centers in Manhattan, per the company. The Times Square hotel joins Hyatt's growing Regency portfolio, which spans urban and resort destinations worldwide. Last year, Hyatt wrapped a $150 million renovation on the company's largest hotel, the 2,032-key Hyatt Regency Chicago. Meanwhile, two Hyatt Regency hotels opened in Houston in 2023. Hyatt Regency Times Square joins more than 30 Hyatt-branded properties in New York City, including the 587-key Thompson Central Park Hotel located along Manhattan's Billionaire's row as well as the recently rebranded Hotel Seville NoMad. A Destination by Hyatt hotel could also anchor The Avenir, a mixed-use entertainment complex proposed for Manhattan's Far West Side, if the project succeeds in obtaining gaming rights, Hyatt announced last month. Hyatt's Standard International brand also recently expanded in New York City with the opening of The Manner.

The Wiz brings magic to Fort Worth for the first time during 50th anniversary tour

For the first time ever, the Broadway show "The Wiz" is bringing its magic to Fort Worth, and it just so happens to land during a major milestone. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the beloved musical. "I mean, like I always say, this show is the star," said Elijah Ahmad Lewis, who plays the Scarecrow. "For it being around for 50 years… that says everything." First premiering on Broadway in 1975, "The Wiz" follows the familiar storyline of "The Wizard of Oz," but now with a fresh, modern twist to meet today's audiences where they are. "There are a lot of new things in our culture now that are incorporated into this show, just to bring it to where it is," Lewis said. But through all the laughter and music, the heart of the story remains unchanged. "Overall, the story is about finding your way home," said Lewis. "The subliminal message is knowing where you are and finding your center and knowing that home is always where the heart is, and where you always land." Cal Mitchell, who plays the Lion, grew up watching the movie version of "The Wiz" countless times. "We wore that VHS out! I mean, out!" Mitchell said. "Watching that movie for so long growing up, and not realizing there was this thin line of connection happening, was crazy." Lewis said his character's journey is one that everyone can relate to. "The Scarecrow believed what someone else told him, that he didn't have a brain… even though he had it all along. That's something we all go through," he said. Both actors said performing the show for the first time in Fort Worth, especially on its 50th anniversary, feels particularly meaningful. And if you need one more reason to grab a ticket? They say it's a great way to beat the Texas heat. "The theater is air-conditioned!" Mitchell said. "It's very lovely. And there's a cast here that truly has such heart and love for this show." "The Wiz" is currently playing at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth. Producers have also announced a digital lottery for the Fort Worth run, powered by Broadway Direct. Fans can enter the lottery the day before each performance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning July 14 for the opening night performance on July 15. Winners will be notified by email and have the opportunity to purchase up to two tickets for $39 each. Tickets must be purchased within 60 minutes of notification, or the opportunity will be forfeited. The lottery will continue daily through the final performance on July 20.
