Bride-to-Be Drops Bridesmaid from Wedding Party After She Says She Wants to Dye Her Hair Pink to Match Her Dress

A bride-to-be was not impressed when one of her bridesmaids said she was going to dye her hair pink to match her dress to be "hilarious."
In a recent post on Reddit's "Bridezillas" forum, a woman explained how she was considering dropping the friend in question from her wedding party after she'd said she wanted to switch up her look ahead of the bride's special day.
"One of my bridesmaids (who I'm already considering asking to step down) has just told me she's temporarily dying her hair pink 'to match the dress!'" the poster initially wrote. "And I'm about to lose it."
She added that her friend had "been kind of on a spiral of 'branching out,'" stating that this was "the latest new thing" she was "apparently set on."
The Reddit user continued, "To be clear, she's never done an unnatural color (nothing more than blonder or brown or occasionally a red) and this is all very sudden."
She insisted she wouldn't normally ask somebody to change the way they looked for her nuptials, but said that this was different.
"I typically wouldn't tell someone to change their appearance for my wedding because it's so so so rude but I feel like this is a step past the norm and I'm at a loss," the poster said, adding, "I feel like this is the latest 'pick me' moment in a long string of them."
She questioned whether she would be the "bridezilla" for asking her friend not to dye her hair "an unnatural color for the wedding, knowing that this is something she's never once done before?"
The woman later edited the post to insist that she wasn't asking her "to change her current style," just "the grand plan she had for her wedding hair that's explicitly FOR the wedding, to be 'hilarious.'"
She eventually wrote that she'd bit the bullet and dropped her friend from the wedding party, writing, "I just dropped her. She lost her s---. I'm glad it's a closed chapter."
In the comments section, the post got mixed reactions.
After the poster responded to one of the reactions with grabs of the text exchange, a commenter insisted, "This type of conversation is NOT for a text message. It's too late but if you do care about her, asking her out for coffee to talk through this might be a better way. It's so easy to misunderstand intent, get angry over text, and escalate. That's what happened here."

Another person had previously suggested, "If you're considering asking her to step down just [do] it. You'll be happier. The pink hair it seems will become something else and that becomes something else and you're clearly over [it]. I don't blame you. I'd be over it [too] from the sound of it."
"The key point is that she is dyeing her hair FOR the wedding (to match the dress), which gives you the opening to say 'I appreciate the thought but honestly I'd rather you don't,'" a different commenter had pointed out, while one insisted, "You did the right thing. Dyeing your hair FOR the wedding is very different from having dyed hair already."
