The Blood of Dawnwalker developers share a look at gameplay from the upcoming vampire fantasy RPG

Engadget6 days ago

One of the games that really caught my eye during the Xbox Games Showcase at the beginning of June was The Blood of Dawnwalker , a dark fantasy action-RPG from Rebel Wolves, the studio co-founded by Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz . First teased earlier this year , The Blood of Dawnwalker is a single-player open-world game set in a version of 14th-century Europe that's crawling with vampires.
The first two trailers gave us a bit of a glimpse at what the gameplay will be like, but the developer has now shared an in-depth look in a 21-minute video. It looks pretty sick — but keep in mind that this footage is from the "pre-beta" game, so there's still a lot of polishing to be done. In The Blood of Dawnwalker , "You play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night. Fight for your humanity or embrace the cursed powers to save your family." It's slated to hit PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.

These Two Cool Mass Effect Mods Look Like The Perfect Way To Revisit A Classic Trilogy

If you're like me and haven't played the original Mass Effect trilogy in some time, then boy do I have some good news for you if you have the game on PC or are thinking of grabbing a copy on Steam. A pair of wildly impressive mods for the Legendary Edition remaster of everyone's favorite Xbox 360-era space opera trilogy contains so many exciting tweaks and so much new material that even I, someone who thought I was probably never gonna play those games again, is now thinking about how I'm gonna clear hard-drive space to hit the stars once more. The LE3 Diversification Project (the White House is already upset about it) and Spectre Expansion Mod from virtuoso modder Tydeous and a team of talented editors sound too good to be true. Check out the trailer and deep dive here: For those who don't have 17 minutes to check out the video, let me break down the highlights of what's on offer in these super neat mods: 4 new combat missions 1 new hub map 12 new cutscenes 8 altered cutscenes 3 new apartment decorations 6 updated character appearances And there's more than just what's in that list. From making subtle changes like replacing the textures on dead bodies to be more accurate to the lore of the world, to performing incredible feats of digital archaeology in restoring cutscenes that were only referred to in snippets of code in the original game's beta, the mods are packed with tons of new things to see and explore. The mods also expand how you can take in the world. For example, at the Purgatory night club from Mass Effect 2, you can now order drinks that were featured in Mass Effect: The Official Cocktail Book. Unfortunately, though it's well-deserved after such hard work, modder Tydeos is going on a hiatus now that his work on these mods is complete. However, according to the deep dive video, should he return in the future, he hopes to expand the four brand new missions the mod adds to the game to match the scale found in official, BioWare-brewed quests. . NHN Updates ‘DARKEST DAYS' with ‘Resident Expedition' Feature – Roadmap in Full Swing

SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NHN (KRX: 181710, CEO: Woojin Jung) announced on June 26th that it has rolled out a new update for its zombie apocalypse title DARKEST DAYS, featuring the addition of the 'Resident Expedition' content. The new 'Resident Expedition' content is a mini-game where players organize expeditions using their residents and vehicles. Players can form teams based on each vehicle's seating capacity. Share DARKEST DAYS is an open-world shooting RPG developed and serviced by NHN. Since its global open beta launch on PC and mobile platforms on April 24, player engagement has been steadily increasing, particularly in multiplayer content, proving its immersive appeal. The game continues to evolve in quality during the ongoing beta, and this update sets the stage for deeper, more exciting gameplay. The new 'Resident Expedition' content is a mini-game where players organize expeditions using their residents and vehicles. Players can form teams based on each vehicle's seating capacity, and use fuel as a movement resource to explore board-type tiles featuring combat, rewards, buffs, and more. Victories grant Resident XP and various loot. A new high-level map, 'Twilight Holitore,' has also been added for players who prefer PvE content. This non-conflict zone is designed for PvE farming and features zombies ranging from level 41 to 45. In 'Twilight Holitore,' players can obtain all the items available in the original Holitore, along with additional shelter facility blueprints that were previously difficult to acquire. Also debuting in the update is the new submachine gun 'Tommy.' Available in grades N to SSR, the Tommy boasts a 50-round magazine, allowing for prolonged engagements compared to other SMGs. The Tommy and a new SSR-grade armor set called the 'Hunting Set' can be acquired through in-game farming or through a Lucky Box with boosted drop rates. Players can now also use a new vehicle, the 'Ambulance', which features an impressive 11-slot storage capacity, about half the size of a player's inventory. This makes item collection more efficient and enjoyable. In addition, DARKEST DAYS has added a report system to the PvP map 'Rootland' and improved the kill log upon death, providing a more stable and secure gameplay environment for players. Meanwhile, DARKEST DAYS revealed its 2025 update roadmap in late May, sharing plans for core content with players. Through the June 5 update, DARKEST DAYS introduced cumulative XP gain after level 40 and additional ER sources with improved acquisition rates. Moving forward, DARKEST DAYS also plans to implement guild system and content updates, a new growth system (Survivor Levels), melee weapon buffs, a complete skill system overhaul, and a rework of the party system to better meet player expectations.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 hits PS5 on August 12

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released for PS5 on August 12. We knew the port was coming this summer, and now we have an actual date. Ninja Theory says the title will be optimized for both the standard-issue PS5 and the more powerful PS5 Pro. This is a real homecoming for the franchise, as Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was originally released for PS4 back in 2017. That PS5 release date coincides with the cross-platform launch of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced. This version includes a performance mode that pushes the frame rate up to 60FPS. Ninja Theory says this results in smoother gameplay that's "especially noticeable during combat and fast-moving moments." This mode won't be available for Xbox Series S. The PC version is getting a new "Very High" preset to push the settings to the max and the update includes optimizations to make the game Steam Deck Verified. We love to see it. Hellblade II Enhanced also includes a new gameplay mode that significantly amps up the difficulty, complete with perma-death. Beyond that, there's a developer commentary track and a refreshed photo mode. These features arrive as a free update. The PS5 version of the game will cost $50, though there's a Deluxe Edition available for $70 that also includes the soundtrack and an optimized version of the original Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. For the uninitiated, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is a third-person adventure that first hit the Xbox and PC in 2024. The brutal and gorgeous game is set in Iceland during the 10th century. We called it an outstanding "interactive brutality visualizer" in our original review, going on to call out the game's "extended, extremely anxious and violent vibe." Let's hear it for simulated violence!
