PN ongoing 'Jelajah Teraju Pahang' tour signals early preparations for GE16
Pahang PN secretariat chief Datuk Andansura Rabu said the state-wide "Jelajah PN Teraju Pahang" road tour, which includes door-to-door visits, was among the approaches adopted by the coalition to meet the people on the ground.
"We have completed the first round of 'Jelajah PN Teraju Pahang' where we visited 24 states constituencies we won during the last general election and some in which we think we can secure victory in GE16.
"The 'Jelajah PN Teraju Pahang 2.0' will begin soon with further improvements from the first series.
"Besides meeting and strengthening the party's election machinery, the other objective is to build the people's confidence, especially in assuring them that PN is serious about leading Pahang.
"There is an opportunity, especially among the fence-sitters," he told reporters after attending the opening of the 2025 Bersatu Indera Mahkota, Paya Besar and Kuantan division annual conference here today.
Pahang Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah represented PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in opening the meeting.
Meanwhile, Andansura, who is Pahang Pas deputy commissioner, said the Jelajah PN Teraju Pahang road tour will consist of several series that will continue until GE16.
"When we are on the ground, the PN leaders will mingle with the locals, listen and understand their problems, and look into appropriate solutions. The people have welcomed us and are prepared to lend an ear.
"PN has begun our groundwork early, giving the people confidence that we have a strong leadership consisting of professionals and non-professionals who are ready to serve.
"We do not want to wait until the election season before going to work on the ground," he said.
On seat negotiations among PN component parties, Andansura said discussions were in the initial stages and are ongoing.
During the 13th general election in 2013, Pas only managed to win three seats in Pahang before securing eight in the 14th general election in 2018.
Currently, PN has 17 representatives — 15 from Pas and two from Bersatu.
The Pahang unity government consists of 17 Umno representatives, one from MIC, six from DAP and two from PKR.

‘Umno will never go solo'
Nice to meet you: Ahmad Zahid meeting supporters at the opening of the Umno division meeting as Zambry (behind Zahid) looks on. — Bernama LUMUT: Umno will not contest alone in the 16th General Election (GE16), says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He stressed the party's continued commitment to cooperating with other component parties in Barisan Nasional. He dismissed claims that Umno's recent losses in several by-elections were due to its alliance with component parties within Barisan and Pakatan Harapan. 'Umno and Barisan have never contested on their own. I promise and declare that we will contest under the Barisan symbol in the upcoming general election,' he said at the opening of the Lumut Umno division meeting here yesterday. Also present were Perak Umno chief Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Lumut Umno chief Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. Ahmad Zahid, who is Barisan chairman, said the coalition's parties, MIC, MCA and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, alongside its unity government partner Pakatan, will not be sidelined. He said while Barisan may contest under its own banner, it will do so with the support of allies in Pakatan and other component parties. 'They have helped us by reaching out and engaging Chinese voters in support of the Barisan candidate (for the Mahkota state seat) and we won by a margin of over 20,000 ... thanks to the support from our friends in other parties,' he said. He stressed that despite the setbacks in the previous general election, it was not a matter of sadness or fear but rather a lesson in political strategy for greater success in the coming elections. On another matter, Ahmad Zahid stressed on the importance of support and respect for Barisan component parties to achieve victory in an election. Victory cannot be achieved alone, he said, urging Umno members to strengthen ties with their partners in MIC and MCA. 'These parties stood by us during hard times. Now it is our turn to support them to ensure Umno and Barisan candidates dominate both state and parliamentary seats again. The same goes for our cooperation with Pakatan,' he added. He said that cooperation with Barisan component partners is one of the key conditions for the coalition to recapture three seats in Lumut in GE16. The three are the Lumut parliamentary seat as well as Pangkor and Pasir Panjang state seats – seats which are currently held by Perikatan Nasional. He said Umno and Barisan leaders in Lumut must stand united and there should be no room for division. 'Our political opponents are not as strong as we think. It is our internal weaknesses and the loss of confidence in our own party that have hurt our cause the most. 'Old habits such as backstabbing, blaming leaders and finger-pointing must stop immediately. 'Unity within the Lumut division is the first and foremost condition for victory,' he said in his speech. He reminded the party to let go of the past and accept today's political reality. 'As part of the unity government, we can no longer act like the dominant party of the past, making demands at will. 'The people are watching and evaluating our maturity. Arrogance and pride must be eradicated. 'We must show that Umno has changed and is ready to regain public trust through humility and wise strategy,' he added. He said Umno should regard social media as an important medium to gain support, especially among young voters. 'Umno Youth and Puteri Umno must lead the digital narrative. Engaging voters with relevant, respectful and convincing content is essential in rebuilding trust. 'This is our final opportunity to win back all three seats in Lumut. We must not waste it,' said Ahmad Zahid.

Zahid confirms no going solo, Umno to contest GE16 under BN
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi speaking to party members at the Lumut divisional meeting today. (Bernama pic) LUMUT : Umno will not contest the next general election on its own, party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed today, saying the party will remain a component of Barisan Nasional for the elections. Umno would continue to contest the general election (GE16) under BN's dacing (scales) symbol without sidelining partners such as MCA, MIC, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah and its unity government partner Pakatan Harapan. Saying Umno had never contested on its own in the past, Zahid dismissed claims that the party's losses in several by-elections were due to its partnerships with other parties in BN and with Pakatan Harapan. '(The suggestion to contest solo) was not only brought up in Kedah — yesterday I was in Johor, and it was the same sentiment, urging us to go solo,' he said at the Lumut Umno divisional meeting today. 'There are resolutions from some divisions implying that our defeats stem from having allies in BN and PH … that we've been at a disadvantage because we did not contest alone,' he said. Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had also stated that the party would not go solo at the general election as the party had never done so despite the changing political dynamics.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi gestures during his speech at the officiation of the Gopeng UMNO Division Delegates' Meeting today. – Bernama photo GOPENG (July 6): Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident that the cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) can ensure that they retain the seats won in the last general election, its chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. He said it was based on observations and results of the Mahkota and Ayer Kuning by-elections, and pointed out that BN had secured the Mahkota seat with a majority of 5,166 votes in the 15th general election (GE15), but managed to win with a majority of 20,648 votes in the by-election, thanks to the partnership with PH. 'The same with Ayer Kuning, during GE15, we won with a majority of 2,213 votes then when the by-election happened, we won with a majority of 5,006 votes. That's the type of increase we can see from the cooperation with PH,' he said during his speech at the officiation of the Gopeng Umno Division Delegates' Meeting here today, in the presence of Perak Umno chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Gopeng Umno Division chief Datuk Hang Tuah Din. He said that the cooperation with PH should be a guide and reflection for leaders and the grassroots as the strategy is sound and suitable to retain existing power. 'We cannot be proud and arrogant and want to go solo. This is the current reality and in this way, we can also become dominant in the national political arena,' he said. Meanwhile, Saarani said Perak Umno will focus on attracting support from non-party members as its main strategy in maintaining BN's wins in GE16. – Bernama ahmad zahid hamidi barisan nasional general election politics
