MADANI govt in tune with rakyat's needs
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the announced approach would also further boost economic growth, provide relief to the people, as well as strengthen the country's fiscal resilience in the face of global uncertainties.
'At the same time, the MADANI Government will continue to strive to balance the need to improve the country's financial position with the responsibility to safeguard the well-being of the people.
'Highest appreciation and thanks to the Prime Minister for the announcement of the MADANI Government's measures that provide relief to the people, as well as drive the country's economic stability,' he said in a post uploaded on social media.
Fahmi said the measures taken and announced were the result of careful consideration based on the principles of social justice and economic sustainability.
Fahmi who is also the chairman of the Main Committee for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations (HKHM), also called on all Malaysians to raise the spirit of love for the country.
'This is the time for us to unite our hearts and souls, appreciate the blessings of independence and together contribute to the prosperity of the country,' he said.
He stressed that the government would continue to strengthen the development agenda through the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13) and the MADANI Malaysia Budget which is currently being worked for the benefit of the people.
The Prime Minister today announced several important initiatives as a sign of the MADANI Government's appreciation to all the people, including a one-off RM100 gift to every adult citizen aged 18 and above under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, a postponement of the increase in toll rates for 10 highways and a lower RON95 subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.
Anwar also said that several other measures and new initiatives would be introduced in the 2026 Budget which is scheduled to be tabled this October.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered near Sogo and Pertama Complex in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon for the 'Turun Anwar' protest. The crowd, which included Perikatan Nasional leaders and supporters dressed predominantly in black, is expected to march to Dataran Merdeka Over 2,000 police officers have been deployed across the city, with acting KL police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad warning that any provocation or unlawful behaviour will be met with firm action. Anwar had earlier said the government welcomes criticism and peaceful assembly, but urged protesters to act responsibly. Saifuddin Nasution: Govt respects free speech rights but democracy belongs in Parliament
ALOR SETAR, July 26 — The Madani government is committed to upholding the principles of the Federal Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech for Malaysians, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Saifuddin Nasution said that due to this principle, his ministry did not place too much emphasis on the assembly held in the capital today. 'When the court says there's no need to notify the police, we go along with it. 'But the main issue I want to raise is this — if the Opposition truly respects democratic principles, I wish to pose the question, do they want to act outside Parliament or inside Parliament?' he said. He was speaking to reporters after officiating the opening of the Kedah Contingent Children Interview Centre (CIC) here today, which was also attended by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Awang Alik Jeman. Saifuddin Nasution said that if demands towards the government were made outside Parliament, such as by holding assemblies, it would have no impact. 'In Parliament, the prime minister has opened up the opportunity fully, and the Opposition can table a motion of no confidence. In this case, the Prime Minister even said the Opposition's motion would be given priority, and government business would be postponed. But Parliament has been sitting for five days now, and it's been silent,' he said. According to Saifuddin Nasution, if the Opposition understands the democratic process and wants to use democratic means to topple someone, it should be done through Parliament. 'All we see now is noise outside about the gathering. So, the people can now see — do they want to uphold democratic principles or simply create uneasiness? Opposition leaders address ‘Turun Anwar' rally in KL over cost of living, governance issues

Held at Dataran Merdeka in downtown Kuala Lumpur, the rally drew supporters from across the country, many dressed in party colours or black and carrying placards voicing discontent with the current administration. Among the speakers were Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, PN information chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau. In his speech, Sanusi accused the prime minister of failing to follow through on promises of reform. 'He promised reform but did the opposite. Everything he said he would do — he didn't,' he said, adding that public trust had been eroded. Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, once a close political ally of Anwar, said the Reformasi movement no longer reflected the ideals it once championed. 'Thousands once rallied behind him shouting 'Reformasi'. Now, people are losing their jobs, suffering — all in the name of justice that no longer exists,' he said. He added that the government needed to take urgent steps to address public dissatisfaction. 'If support brought him to power, that support can also be withdrawn,' he said. Dr Mahathir criticised what he described as a tendency to make public judgments about political opponents. 'Legal matters should go through the courts. We should not see trial by media — it undermines democratic principles,' he said. He also questioned the effectiveness of the RM100 cash aid announced by the government. 'Even high-income groups received it. The money could be better used to help those who truly need it,' he said. Tan Sri Muhyiddin said rising costs of living had made life difficult for many Malaysians, and argued that the government's financial aid policies needed to be better targeted. 'I used to work closely with Anwar, but I cannot ignore what people are experiencing,' he said. Gerakan president Dominic Lau questioned the cost of the prime minister's international travel. 'In eight months, he visited over 30 countries. Each trip costs half a million ringgit, where's the return on investment?' he asked. 'People want action, not photo ops.' Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin led the crowd in chants urging change, saying there was growing frustration among Malaysians. 'RM100 is not enough. We don't want cash handouts,' he said. Despite earlier warnings from the authorities, the rally proceeded peacefully. Police maintained a visible but non-confrontational presence. Organisers maintained they were exercising their constitutional right to assemble and said the turnout — potentially among the largest since the 2018 general election — signalled rising dissatisfaction with the current government.
