J-K: Security forces continue joint search operation in Poonch to trace terrorists
Indian Army's Romeo Force and SOG are conducting a joint operation in Poonch's Lasana forest to locate hiding terrorists after a recent exchange of fire. Security has been heightened on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway. Separately, the Chinar Corps recovered arms and ammunition in Baramulla. Security forces also neutralized two terrorists near the LOC in Uri following intelligence about their movement.

The Romeo Force of the Indian Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) continued their joint operation on Thursday for the 10th consecutive day in the forest area of Lasana in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch to trace terrorists believed to be hiding in the region.The search operations started on April 15 following an exchange of fire between the security forces and terrorists on April 14.Security forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting extensive search operations in dense forest zones.According to officials, terrorists opened fire on the Romeo Force personnel, in which one of the security personnel got injured near the Lasana village located on the National Highway connecting Poonch to Jammu.Meanwhile, the security forces have heightened alertness on the Jammu-Rajouri-Pooch highway 144.Rajouri Traffic Police officer Ahmed Din said, "We are checking local cars by checking their licenses. We are not allowing a loaded truck as it may create a jam. Traffic Police are there, the District Police are there, and the Army is also supporting us. 24/7 nakas are there."Earlier on Wednesday, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army recovered several arms and ammunition from the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.Taking to social media post on X, Chinar Corps stated that they have recovered two AK Series Rifles, five Magazines, one Pistol, ten Kgs of RCIED and other war-like stores from the district."Update: OP TIKKA, Baramulla: Two AK Series Rifles, five Magazines, one Pistol, ten Kgs of RCIED and other war-like stores have been recovered from the site. Identity of terrorists is being ascertained," Chinar Corps posted on X on Wednesday.In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack , the security forces had launched operations to eliminate terrorists across the Kashmir valley.Terrorists' movement near the LOC was tracked, and when they crossed the LOC at around 3 am. After a continuous exchange of fire for two hours, the security forces ambushed and neutralised two terrorists. 2 AK rifles, one 9mm Chinese pistol, magazines and large quantities of ammunition were recovered from both terrorists."Last night, we carried out a counter-infiltration operation. For the last few days, our security forces were continuously getting information about the movement of Pakistterrorists in the Uri sector through our intelligence agencies... On the intervening night of 22 and 23 April, at around 1 am, the Indian army got to know about the presence of terrorists at a launchpad near the Uri nallah", Brigadier Mayank Shukla of 161 Brigade told reporters.As many as 26 people were killed in the dastardly attack by terrorists on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.The attack, carried out by terrorists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, is one of the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. The attack was one of the biggest terror attacks in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

In two separate operations, the police seized over 1,100 rolls of banned kite strings and arrested two individuals. The first operation was conducted on June 26 in Kamla Nagar Market, where the police arrested Arib Khan, a resident of Daryaganj and seized 248 rolls of banned kite strings. ‘Cybercriminals using Tripura as corridor, mobile networks have become more dangerous than AK series rifles': CM Manik Saha
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Saturday directed the police to strongly tackle the menace of cybercrime, stating that cyber criminals were trying to use the state as a corridor. While inaugurating a cybercrime police station at Arundhatinagar on the outskirts of Agartala, CM Saha said, 'Cybercrime is a matter of discussion in recent times. Many people lost everything after becoming victims of cybercrime. Cybercriminals are negatively using technology.' He added that mobile networks have become more dangerous than the AK series rifles. 'We talk about the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI), but it has negative effects too. The fraudsters can use AI against innocent people. People have to be more careful to keep themselves safe from fraudulent activities,' Saha further said. Reacting to the Opposition's allegation of breakdown in the law-and-order system in the state, the chief minister said, 'When they (Opposition) see that law and order is good here, then something opposite has to be said… People from elsewhere are coming to the state for jobs or business, as the law-and-order system is good here.' On tackling drugs, the chief minister said, 'If we speak about drugs, compared to last year, we could make 106 per cent more seizures. In the case of destruction, it is 132 per cent. China planned car crash during Taiwan vice-president's Prague visit, says Czech intelligence
Taiwan's Vice-President Hsiao Bi-khim has said she will not be intimidated after Czech intelligence revealed a reported Chinese plan to stage a car crash during her official visit to Prague in 2024. According to The Guardian, the Czech Republic's military intelligence said Chinese diplomats and intelligence officials based at the Chinese embassy in Prague had planned a staged 'demonstrative kinetic action' targeting Hsiao's motorcade during her visit. Hsiao travelled to the Czech Republic in March 2024, in her first overseas trip after Taiwan's January election, alongside President Lai Ching-te. At the time, it was reported that a Chinese diplomat had run a red light while following her convoy from the airport. This week, Czech officials told local media that the incident was part of a broader plan. Director of Czech military intelligence Petr Bartovský told public broadcaster Irozhlas that the driver stopped by police had been following Hsiao's convoy, and that intelligence services had uncovered further plans being developed within the Chinese embassy. A spokesperson for the agency, Jan Pejšek, told Irozhlas: 'It was an attempt by the Chinese civil secret service to create conditions to perform a demonstrative kinetic action against a protected person, which however did not go beyond the phase of preparation.' According to The Guardian, this was understood to mean a staged car crash. Pejšek added that other actions taken by Chinese officials had come close to putting Hsiao in danger. He said these activities 'flagrantly breach the obligations arising from the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations' and were carried out by individuals with diplomatic status at the Chinese embassy. Hsiao thanked Czech authorities for keeping her safe. On Saturday, she posted on social media: 'The CCP's unlawful activities will NOT intimidate me from voicing Taiwan's interests in the international community.' Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council strongly criticised the reported plan, calling it a serious threat to Hsiao's safety. The council demanded a public apology and explanation from China. A spokesperson for China's foreign ministry, Guo Jiakun, responded by saying that Chinese diplomats 'always observe the laws and regulations of host countries.' He also criticised the Czech government for allowing the visit, describing it as 'gross interference in China's internal affairs.' Guo referred to Hsiao as a 'diehard Taiwan independence separatist,' a label that in China carries harsh penalties, including the threat of the death sentence. The Czech foreign ministry confirmed that it had summoned the Chinese ambassador over the incident at the time. It did not give additional comment on Friday. Beijing claims Taiwan as part of its territory and opposes any diplomatic recognition of Taiwan's elected government. It routinely criticises foreign governments that host Taiwanese officials.
