Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie David Walker out for season with torn ACL
"He was making a big impact early," Bowles said. "Obviously, we were counting on him to do a lot of things. But we've got other guys that have to step up. I told him he has to look at this as a redshirt year."
Walker joined the Buccaneers as a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He was expected to get reps behind Haason Reddick and Yaya Diaby. Anthony Nelson and Chris Braswell are among the Buccaneers' other outside linebackers.
Walker was honored as the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) last season when he earned the Buck Buchanan Award. He totaled 10.5 sacks and an FCS-high 23 tackles for a loss in 2024 at Central Florida.
The Buccaneers will host the Tennessee Titans in their preseason opener Aug. 9 in Tampa, Fla.

The deal includes $23 million guaranteed. Williams, 24, totaled 316 carries for 1,299 yards and 14 scores over 16 starts last season. He also caught a career-high 34 passes for 182 yards and two scores. The fourth-year running back entered the league as a fifth-round pick by the Rams in the 2022 NFL Draft. He totaled 1,350 yards from scrimmage and 15 scores last season. Williams led the NFL with 95.3 rushing yards per game over 12 appearances in 2023, when he earned a Pro Bowl selection. The Rams will host the Dallas Cowboys in their preseason opener at 4 p.m. EDT Saturday in Inglewood, Calif. They will take on the Los Angeles Chargers and Cleveland Browns in their final two preseason games. The Rams will host the Houston Texans in their regular season opener Sept. 7 at SoFi Stadium.

CBS Sports reveals hilarious recent Iowa football betting trend
It's no secret that over the past five years, Iowa's offense has been the butt of many jokes. Whether it's winning a game 7-3 against an FCS school without scoring a touchdown or the numerous offensive shortcomings against great teams, the Hawkeyes' offense has become an easy target for fans and media alike. They saw a big improvement last season under Tim Lester, and Iowa fans are hoping for another jump in 2025. If that happens, sports books will have to alter their betting lines drastically for Iowa games. CBS Sports released an article on Friday talking about the teams that routinely hit their over and the ones that hit the under the most over the past three seasons. And in doing so, they brought up a hilarious fact when it comes to Iowa football and their over/under number. It's no surprise that Iowa has hit the under in 59.5% of its games the past three seasons. They're 15-22 on the over/under since 2022, the tenth-worst record in the country. This is especially bad given how comically low some of the over/unders have been for Iowa football in that stretch. I mean, just take a look at this tweet from before the Iowa vs Nebraska game in 2023. And yes, if you're wondering, the under still hit in that game when Iowa won 13-10. However, 2024 saw improvement from Iowa when it came to hitting overs. Iowa football games hit the over nine times last season, a testament to a much-improved offense under Lester, and some sports books still giving Iowa games extremely low over/unders. CBS Sports explained it well. Easily my favorite part of this list is that Iowa is still hovering around 60% to the under for the last three years despite going over in nine (9!) games last season. That wasn't because Iowa's offense somehow became an unstoppable juggernaut, but it's a perfect example of sportsbooks overcorrecting so hard to getting killed by Iowa unders for the past two seasons that they routinely put Iowa totals in the 30s last year. -CBS Sports. Heading into the 2025 season and beyond, Iowa fans are hoping that the offense will stop being a national joke and continue to take big steps forward. And maybe the sports books will set the over/under in the 40s for future Iowa games. Regardless, it's crazy how many games Iowa has won the past three years, given their offensive struggles. NEED TO KNOW The Seattle Kraken's mascot, Buoy the sea troll, recently had a close call while fly fishing with the team at Alaska's Katmai National Park In a video captured and shared by the team's social media, a grizzly bear could be seen briefly charging at the mascot in a stream Kraken center John Hayden said in the video that the bear likely went after the mascot as it was 'pretty interested in his whole look' The Seattle Kraken's mascot got into a hairy situation with a real bear. In a video shared on social media, the hockey team shared the close call between a wild grizzly bear and the team's mascot, Buoy the sea troll, while the team was out fly fishing in Alaska's Katmai National Park, according to UPI. Kraken center John Hayden talked through the close encounter in the video, saying, "While we were fishing, we had a pretty close call with a couple [of] bears." The footage then cut to a shot of Hayden fishing in a stream as the camera panned to the tree cover behind him and showed a brown grizzly bear making its way out of the woods and into the stream. 'We got a bear,' he told the camera, as another crew member said, 'Oh, I got to break you off now. Hey Sam, we got a bear, we've got to move down.' Hayden could be seen handing over his fly fishing pole to a crew member as the pair and filming crew began making their way downstream. However, it appeared that the bear wanted to follow them, as he could be seen dipping into the stream and heading in their direction. At one point, the bear could be seen spotting Buoy the sea troll, who was also fly fishing with the team. The animal let out a roar and then could be seen charging toward the mascot as he hurried to move away. Luckily, the grizzly bear stopped a few feet away from Buoy in the water. Another angle shot of the bear charging at the Kraken players and filming crew near the end of the video showed just how close the bear got to the team before they got away. Hayden said in the video that they 'got out of it okay,' but it was quite a 'close call.' He also noted that the bear likely went after the mascot as it was 'pretty interested in his whole look.' 'That last little sprint, I was worried for you Buoy,' a crew member told the mascot, who could be seen shaking his head before the video ended. 'TROLL NARROWLY ESCAPES BEAR ENCOUNTER,' the team captioned the video. They added, '*no trolls or bears were hurt in the making, always respect wildlife in their natural habitat.' In response to the video on X, one person noted that they had a similar close call with a 'bull moose' while hiking on the side of a mountain. The person noted that despite getting 'chased' by the animal they did not get 'hurt.'
