Daily Record05-06-2025
The Chase has six impressive quizzers on the ITV show who have all defeated many of contestants but a new study has uncovered who is the most successful Chaser of all time.
The Chase has become one of the most popular quiz shows in British television history since its debut on ITV in 2009. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the fast-paced game follows keen contestants who attempt to outsmart 'The Chaser' so they can win a cash prize.
There are currently six official Chasers on the show, these impressive quiz geniuses are Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis. Each Chaser has their own nickname on the game show and have become household names thanks to the show's success, also featuring on the ITV spin-off, Beat the Chasers.

But the question is - who is the best Chaser out of the lot? New research by Betway has examined factors such as accuracy, win rate, and highest target caught in order to determine the best Chaser of all time, Bristol Live reports.

Viewers may be surprised to discover that in terms of financial success, it's Paul Sinha who comes out on top.
Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha boasts a 78 percent win rate across his 436 appearances on The Chase.
The quiz guru's average target to beat is 19 and he holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show.
Meanwhile, Mark Labbett, better known as 'The Beast' has a 76 percent win rate over 475 episodes since his start in 2009.
Labbett, who was the show's inaugural Chaser, holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly.

Meanwhile, Anne Hegerty, known as 'The Governess' is ranked as the top Chaser on television.
With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% - the joint highest of any Chaser - it's no wonder she's seen as the most daunting opponent.
In the final chase, Hegerty averages 13 correct answers within the 60-second timeframe, with an average target of 19, the second highest among her colleagues.

Who is the most successful chaser on The Chase?
Here are the data comparisons between Chasers Anne, Mark and Paul:
Anne Hegerty - 467 appearances - 85 per cent accuracy - 79 per cent Chaser win rate - win total £12,815
Mark Labbett - 475 appearances - 83 per cent accuracy - 76 per cent Chaser win rate - win total £13,844
Paul Sinha - 436 appearances - 84 per cent accuracy - 78 per cent Chaser win rate - win total £14,651

The latest newcomer to the ITV programme is Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis who joined the show in November 2020.
The Irish neuroscientist has made a strong start after 81 appearances, with a 78 percent win rate and a highest final chase target of 23.
The Chase is broadcast daily on ITV and ITVX at 5pm.

Beloved ITV detective show slapped with 'trigger warning' for crime scenes in 'woke' move

ITV 's Inspector Morse has been slapped with a 'trigger warning' in a move that has been branded ' woke '. The popular series now features a pre-warning for crime scenes throughout the show, which seems to have caused a stir with people online. The streaming giant also advises there are 'satanic images' in one episode of the drama. It then has a parental lock on the episode, titled Day of the Devil. Inspector Morse first aired from 1987 to 2000, with a total of eight series. Other episodes also feature a warning over crime and violence. The popular series now features a pre-warning for crime scenes throughout the show, which seems to have caused a stir with people online Speaking about the update, Senior MP Sir Alec Shelbrooke slammed: 'This is another example of soft-touch Britain seeping into everything. 'We're just going to be laughed at as a country if things like this continue, because nobody's prepared for the real world where there are no.' Daily Mail has contacted ITV for comment. In the past, it has said about general alerts: 'Programming that contains politically sensitive or distressing themes, content, or language has carried appropriate warnings since our launch.' Just a few weeks ago, Netflix bosses axed an iconic moment from Pride and Prejudice to avoid 'objectifying men'. The unforgettable scene of Mr Darcy - played by Colin Firth - emerging from a lake was all the rage in 1995. But show bosses have confirmed it will not resurface in the forthcoming version of the rom-com. According to reports, many fans will be disappointed as the famous BBC scene is said to have 'got millions of women hot under the collar'. A source told The Sun: 'It is also credited for sparking subsequent moments of male objectification on screen - likes Aidan Turner's famous topless scything scene in Poldark.' It's claimed that Netflix bosses 'don't want a repeat'. The saucy scene soon became one of the most favourite TV scenes, however it didn't actually feature in Jane Austen's original 1813 story. Arguably the most iconic wet shirt ever worn sold at auction for £25,000 - double its estimated sale price.

They share their strong feelings for one another and, later on in the episode, Harry chooses to recouple with Shakira, leaving Helena and Blu to coupe up. Just a short time later, Harry and Shakira have been seen getting very close in a preview clip played on Love Island's After Sun. Maya played the clip to the panellist and audience members, all of which audibly gasped as they watched Harry snuggle into Shakira and kiss her neck. The 22-year-old could be seen sat on Harry's lap, as the footballer cradled her in the girls' dressing room. She told him they'd be taking "baby steps" as he nestled into her neck after getting their relationship back on track. Eyeing up her lips, Harry leans in to snog Shakira, but she quickly turns away, allowing him to kiss her cheek instead. Earlier in the episode, Harry tells her: 'I have really tried with her [Helena], but we [Shakira and I] had like a week and it was, for me, the feelings were obviously way stronger and still are. "I'm sorry I never like tried again. I really thought the door was just, like, slammed.' Harry and Helena break down in tears as they cut final romantic ties in emotional scenes Shakira responds: 'Do you want some home truths… it's obviously the way you go about it and the steps you take in between to come to these conclusions obviously hurt people along the way. "It's all well and good you saying 'hold my hands up guys, sorry' but you still hurt people. And it's a pattern.' Harry then makes his intentions clear, saying: 'Look, I'm either leaving here alone or with you.' Both Harry and Helena broke down in tears multiple times in Sunday night's episode, as they cut their final romantic ties in emotional scenes. The duo have continued to deal with the fallout from The Grafties on the long-running ITV2 show. Helena told Harry: "You're so selfish, you've literally broken my heart Harry. Like I cannot be your friend in here. "And I will not be your friend on the outside, I can f****** promise you that. I don't want any association with you ever again." When he suggested that the duo may eventually become friends on the outside, she shut him down once again. "I don't think we will be friends Harry. You don't possess any morals or values that I look for when I'm becoming friends with people. "My friends don't treat me like that. I don't think you have an ounce of respect for me, you've literally ruined everything for me in here." She added: "I literally don't want anything to do with you Harry." That's when the footballers couldn't help but tear up after listening to her resounding words of rejection. Helena added: "I feel like I had something genuine in here and it's like obviously it wasn't. "I just feel so stupid because you clearly haven't felt the same as I felt about you this whole time." She couldn't help but wrap her arms around his neck in a gesture of pity as she caressed his face one more time. As they let go she exclaimed: "It's where the journey ends my darling!" 5 The pair were seen gazing at each other in a sneak preview Credit: ITV

Rashford, 27, helped Barca to a 3-1 victory in a friendly in Japan against local team Vissel Kobe. We recently revealed how Rashford has has rekindled his relationship with former fiancée Lucia Loi. She was with him when he signed for FC Barcelona. The Three Lions ace, 27, and childhood sweetheart Lucia, 26, were together during a photoshoot before he was unveiled as the Catalan giants' latest signing at the Camp Nou stadium. She took his photo, then moved behind him to take another and seemingly checked his shirt before the Man United exile posed beside a traditional red British phone box. Rashford was later seen emerging from the kiosk in a post on FC Barcelona's social media, captioned: 'Hello? Barca? For sure, I'm coming.' The Sun understands that Rashford has asked calming influence Lucia, who works in PR, to help him settle in to life in Spain so he can focus on his football. But they were not seen together until they were unwittingly snapped preparing for his phone box stunt. A source said the pair have stayed close, despite their 2022 engagement fizzling out, and have grown close again of late.
