Sunny Agrawal
, Head of Fundamental Equity Research,
SBI Cap Securities
, says The IT sector faces a weak demand environment as clients seek productivity gains through Gen-AI while expecting cost benefits. While tier I IT company negatives are priced in,
midcap IT firms
face potential correction due to expensive valuations.
KPIT Tech
is expected to deliver muted growth commentary for FY26 amid global automobile industry uncertainties.
What is your take on the IT pack? The market has digested
TCS earnings
and given that the company is not that bullish on the growth outlook and are anticipating some pressure on discretionary spending, we have already seen very tepid moves coming in the other IT majors as well. But within the lot,
KPIT Tech
is holding on to the gains of 2% right now. How do you analyse the overall IT space and any stock that you would like to bet on in this correction?
Sunny Agrawal:
The way the commentary of
TCS
and
Tata Elxsi
has played out, it clearly seems there is a lot of uncertainty in terms of demand environment and at the same time, clients want to increase productivity using various Gen-AI tools and at the same time they want the benefit to be passed on to him or her.

So, overall, a pretty weak demand environment as far as the IT sector is concerned. Coming to a stock specific action or price action, most of the negatives are already in the price at least for tier I IT companies – be it TCS,
Infosys
or
HCL Tech
.
The issue is with the midcap IT companies. The valuations are very expensive there compared to their largecap peers. In case the demand environment or the commentary is on weaker front from midcap companies, we see a sharp correction in the midcap IT pack.
Moving on to the KPIT, the company during the mid-quarter update has already alerted the street that the deal execution is not playing out as per expectation and the deal wins are likely to slow down. Thus the negative news is already priced in for KPIT Tech and any positive development on the automobile side can act as a positive.

But given the trade uncertainty going on in the global automobile industry, the transition from ICE engine to electric or for that matter hybrid, the dynamics of the industry are changing very rapidly. We expect KPIT to deliver a very muted set of commentary as far as growth for FY26 is concerned. So, let us wait and see what is the commentary of management on KPIT.

Nvidia CEO 'trashes' MIT study claiming AI makes people dumber, says: My advice to MIT test participants is, "Apply…"

Jensen Huang, Nvidia's CEO Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismissed recent MIT research suggesting artificial intelligence diminishes cognitive abilities, arguing instead that his daily AI use has actually enhanced his thinking skills. Speaking on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" that aired Sunday, Huang said he uses AI "literally every single day" and believes his " cognitive skills are actually advancing." "I haven't looked at their research yet, but I have to admit, I'm using AI literally every single day," Huang stated during the interview. "I think my cognitive skills are actually advancing, and the reason for that is because I am not asking it to do the thinking for me." The MIT Media Lab study, which analyzed 54 subjects writing SAT essays using ChatGPT, Google Search, or no tools, found that ChatGPT users showed the lowest brain engagement and "consistently underperformed at neural, linguistic, and behavioral levels." Researchers used EEG technology to monitor brain activity across 32 regions during the writing process. "I'm not exactly sure what people are using it for that would cause you to now not have to think," he said on the CNN program. "But if you have the thing in order, for example, the idea of prompting an AI, the idea of asking questions... you're spending most of your time today asking me questions in order to ask good questions. It's a highly cognitive skill." Nvidia CEO emphasized that AI should be used as a learning tool rather than a replacement for thinking. "I'm asking it to teach me many things that I don't know or help me solve problems otherwise I wouldn't be able to solve reasonably or research," Huang explained during the Sunday interview. Huang further that effective AI interaction requires sophisticated cognitive skills, particularly in formulating quality questions. "As a CEO, I spend most of my time asking questions, and 90% of my instructions are actually, you know, conflated with questions," Huang explained. "When I'm interacting with AI, it's a questioning system. You're asking a question, so I think that in order to formulate good questions, you have to be thinking, have to be analytical, reasoning yourself." How Nvidia CEO uses AI himself, and why he says it makes him smarter Huang described his approach of using multiple AI systems to cross-reference and critique responses. "I wouldn't just receive it. Usually, what I do is say, 'Are you sure this is the best answer you can provide?' Take the answer from one AI, give it to another AI, ask them to critique itself," he said during the CNN interview. "There's no different than getting three doctors' opinions." This methodology, according to Huang, actually strengthens analytical abilities rather than weakening them. "So I think that process of critiquing and critiquing the answers of your critical thinking enhances cognitive skills," he concluded on "Fareed Zakaria GPS," offering direct advice to the MIT study participants: "Apply critical thinking." Over 9 In 10 Indian Youth Wish To Apply For Global Jobs If Given Free Visa: Report

New Delhi: More than nine in 10 (92 per cent) of Indian youth would like to apply for global jobs if provided with free visa, hiring and training support, a report said on Monday. A lack of guidance, trust issues, and limited access to reliable resources are key barriers to talent mobility in today's global economy, especially with the rising immigration-related scams, AI-powered global talent mobility platform TERN Group said in its survey report. According to the survey, 57 per cent of respondents lack knowledge about how to initiate the application process. The report also highlights a gap in career guidance and access. About 34.60 per cent of respondents said they had trust issues with working overseas due to the rise in unreliable agents and foreign recruiters. High fees, which are frequently associated with dishonest or ambiguous service providers, deterred 27 per cent of respondents, the report highlighted. The two biggest facilitators of gaining access to a worldwide career were language support, endorsed by 36.5 per cent of respondents and quick job matching (63.5 per cent). 'India is home to one of the world's youngest and most ambitious workforces - yet millions remain cut off from global opportunities. At the centre of this problem lie unaddressed systematic challenges, like unethical agents and recruiters charging exorbitant fees and scamming candidates," said Avinav Nigam, Founder and CEO, TERN Group. "Another challenge faced by the youth is a lack of quality upskilling programmes for a smooth transition into global workspaces," Nigam added. The survey was conducted on 2,500 aspiring professionals across high-demand sectors like healthcare, logistics, and engineering, highlighting key gaps in talent mobility. Nearly 79 per cent of respondents were from the healthcare industry, which includes paramedical staff, dental assistants, and nurses. At a time when nations like Germany, the UK, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Japan are experiencing severe shortages in skilled labour, the data shows an untapped talent pool ready to contribute to global health systems.

No mechanical, maintenance issues found in AI-171 crashed plane: Air India CEO on probe report

New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson on Monday said that that Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) preliminary report on AI-171 plane crash in Ahmedabad has not found 'mechanical or maintenance issues with the aircraft or engines' and urged people not to draw any 'premature conclusions' before the investigation is completed. Addressing Air India's employees in a mail, Campbell Wilson emphasised that the report did not identify cause nor make any recommendations for the June 12 crash of Air India's Boeing 787-8 plane crash in which 260 people were killed. He further said that the Air India will continue to co-operate with the AAIB for a thorough and comprehensive enquiry. 'I suggest we note that the Preliminary Report found no mechanical or maintenance issues with the aircraft or engines, and that all mandatory maintenance tasks had been completed. There was no issue with the quality of fuel and no abnormality with the take-off roll. The pilots had passed their mandatory pre-flight breathalyser and there were no observations pertaining to their medical status,' Wilson said in the mail. 'The Preliminary Report identified no cause nor made any recommendations, so I urge everyone to avoid drawing premature conclusions as the investigation is far from over. We will continue to co-operate with the investigators to ensure they have everything they need to conduct a thorough and comprehensive enquiry,' the Air India CEO said. Wilson also emphasised that every Air India's Boeing 787 aircraft has been checked and was found fit for service. He further added that airlines will continue to perform all necessary checks, 'I would also remind that, out of an abundance of caution and under the oversight of the DGCA, every Boeing 787 aircraft operating in our fleet was checked within days of the accident and all were found fit for service. We continue to perform all necessary checks, as we will any new ones that authorities may suggest.' Air India CEO said. Campbell Wilson advised his employees to remain focused amid the 'speculations and sensational headlines' that came after the report. 'Until a final report or cause is tabled there will no doubt be new rounds of speculation and more sensational headlines. We must nevertheless remain focused on our task and be true to the values that have powered Air India's transformation journey over the past three years - integrity, excellence, customer focus, innovation and teamwork. Let us not be diverted from what are our top priorities: standing by the bereaved and those injured, working together as a team, and delivering a safe and reliable air travel experience to our customers around the world,' he said. The AAIB's Preliminary Report released on Friday said that both the engines of the aircraft were moved from 'run' to 'cutoff,' in quick succession, which resulted in the fuel supply to be cut off. The report says that in the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why he did the cutoff, which the other pilot denied ever doing so. 'The aircraft achieved the maximum recorded airspeed of 180 Knots IAS at about 08:08:42 UTC and immediately thereafter, the Engine 1 and Engine 2 fuel cutoff switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another with a time gap of 01 sec. The Engine N1 and N2 began to decrease from their take-off values as the fuel supply to the engines was cut off,' the preliminary report said. 'In the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why did he cutoff. The other pilot responded that he did not do so,' the report added. As per the Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorder (EAFR) accessed by the AAIB, the engine 1's fuel cut switch transitioned from 'cutoff' to 'run' at about 8:08:52 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). On 8:08:56 UTC the Engine 2's fuel switch also went from 'cutoff' to run'. The AI 171 crash of the Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft in Ahmedabad, Gujarat killed 260 people, including 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people on the ground. (ANI)
