Miley Cyrus admitted to intensive care unit after contracting 'brutal' infection
The 32-year-old pop star has revealed she suffered a terrifying health scare in November and was taken to hospital in secret to treat an infection which was impacting her kneecap - and Miley is convinced she picked up the nasty bug weeks earlier when she was filmed rolling around on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles for the video for her song 'Something Beautiful'.
During an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Miley explained: "I filmed this video in October, and by November at Thanksgiving, I was put in the ICU for a moment - just for a moment ... My leg began to disintegrate around the kneecap area."
She went on to add: "The doctor goes: 'Do you have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?' And I just saw myself [rolling around on the Walk of Fame] and I had to tell him.
"To have a surgeon look at you and say, 'Yuck' … Like, they open up cadavers, they see inside the gut of humans, and they're looking at me telling me I'm disgusting."
It comes after Miley opened up about another "medical emergency" which happened while she was working on her 2023 New Year's Eve special, which she hosted with her Godmother Dolly Parton and featured her performing with stars including Sia and Paris Hilton.
During an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Miley revealed she suffered an ovarian cyst rupture and was left in agony, but she went ahead with the show despite the pain.
She explained: "I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with [TV producer] Lorne [Michaels] when I was doing my New Year's show. I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture, which we didn't know exactly what was going on, so we did [the show], but it was pretty traumatic, cause it was extremely excruciating. And I did the show anyway, but it was really, really hard on me.'
Miley went on to admit she almost quit music because of the experience, but former 'Saturday Night Live' boss Lorne Michaels helped her feel better.
She added: "I had dinner with Lorne [Michaels] and he said something that now has stuck with me. He goes, "Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves. And then we start to rebuild'. I was expired on my amount of time that I was able to shut down.'

She needs a big makeover because she's kinda stuck in 2008, so we'll need to go shopping with Miss Montana."

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's new 'first look' deal with Netflix could end up netting the Sussexes more money than their original contract, an insider has claimed. The Sussexes signed a five-year, $100 million content partnership with the streaming giant through their Archewell company in the heady days of 2020. The deal produced the massively successful docu-series Harry and Meghan, where the Sussexes dished royal secrets, but subsequent projects have come and gone with little fanfare. Infamously, Harry's Drive To Survive-style series on Polo attracted less than 500,000 viewers around the world. Only Markle's cooking series With Love, Meghan, is set to return to the streamer for a 'second season'. It is understood the Sussexes will transition on to a 'first look' deal at Netflix within months, which gives the streamer first dibs on optioning any new Sussex projects. According to royal insider Alison Boshoff, the deal could end up being highly lucrative if Netflix opts to purchase several programs or expand the With, Love Meghan universe. 'There are options on the table for other lifestyle shows from the Duchess, tied to hosting gatherings at Thanksgiving or Christmas,' she wrote in the Daily Mail on Thursday. 'The idea is to announce those in September when the second series (already shot) of With Love, Meghan drops.' While standalone specials could be a 'goldmine' for Meghan, Ms Boshoff claimed that the Sussexes may struggle to cover the payroll at Archewell without the Netflix deal. 'It's bad news for their own large team at Archewell Productions, which has been funded up to now by the Netflix exclusive deal,' she wrote. 'Insiders suggest that running the team and the office costs around $3 million USD a year.' Meanwhile a source close to the couple expressed concerns that without the guiding hand of Netflix the Sussexes are 'horrible' at managing their business affairs. 'They are horrible at making decisions,' the source told the same outlet. 'They ask everyone, then don't take their advice.'

Rocking on: How GemLife's musical residents are making life sing
When you think about retirement, what comes to mind? For GemLife Gold Coast resident Guy Scruton, it's starting a three-piece rock band dubbed The Gemtones. The best part? He doesn't have to imagine it – he's already living it. 'The Gemtones get together every Wednesday afternoon, but these days we're also meeting on weekends, so the community can come down and enjoy their time with us,' explains Scruton, who performs out of his garage alongside bandmates Trevor Rix and Mark Parry. Although he dabbled in music all his life, it wasn't until Scruton and his wife Cathy moved to GemLife Gold Coast, a luxury over-50s resort in Pimpama, mid-last year that he picked up the keyboard and saxophone once more. When Scruton discovered that Rix, his next-door neighbour, sang and played guitar, and that Parry, who lives across the street, was also learning guitar, sparks began to fly. 'Rehearsing became a feature in the street,' Scruton says. 'People within earshot would come and sit down with their eskies, then people from other areas got wind of it and started coming too. We've now performed for larger celebrations like Christmas, New Year's Eve, Australia Day, Melbourne Cup and Easter.' While The Gemtones may have found fame as a garage band, the trio (who cover hits from the 1950s through to the 2000s), will soon take centre stage at GemLife Gold Coast's new multimillion-dollar Country Club. 'We'll start doing rehearsals there and once a month we'll rock on in the club, so everyone gets to dance and have a good night,' Scruton says, adding that the band has become quite the social movement. 'Creating new friendships has been a delight,' he says. 'We all have different stories and interests and come from different walks of life, but we're all like-minded people.'
