New Delhi: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has directed the makers of the Aamir Khan-starrer movie Sitaare Zameen Par to include a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning the year 2047 in the opening disclaimer.
The suggestion to include Modi's quote is part of the five changes/suggestions to the film which the CBFC has directed the makers to incorporate, reported Hindustan Times.
The film was subsequently issued a U/A certification on June 17, which confirms that the modifications were done, with the Prime Minister's quote inserted after the film's opening disclaimer, which has also been changed as per the CBFC's directions.
The newspaper reported that it was not immediately clear what the quote is about.
The movie, which is set to release on June 20, stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, and tells the story of a basketball coach who teaches the sport to a team of intellectually disabled people as community service after the directions of a court.
The other changes in the movie directed by CBFC were the replacement of the term 'business woman' with 'business person'; a 30-second disclaimer at the beginning of the film be replaced with a 26-second voice-over; a visual containing the word 'kamal' (lotus) be removed, along with its appearance in subtitles; and 'Michael Jackson' be replaced with 'Lovebirds' in the subtitles.
In recent years, the CBFC has increasingly been suggesting cuts and modifications in movie scenes.
In April this year, the CBFC had asked the makers of the film Phule to remove several caste-based terms, after objection from Brahmin outfits, resulting in the postponing of its release.
The directive of CBFC included removing terms such as 'Mahar', 'Mang', 'Peshvai', and 'Manu's system of caste', with the censor board terming them as 'sensitive.'
Ananth Mahadevan, the director of Phule had told The Wire that he didn't agree with the modifications suggested by the CBFC.

BFC tightens control—e-Cinepramaan portal cuts off public access to certification data
The public can no longer access a website once widely used by journalists and filmmakers to verify film certifications and cuts. In May, the Central Board of Film Certification 's (CBFC) e-Cinepramaan portal went offline for 'maintenance.' However, it now appears that the changes are permanent, and public access has been blocked. When e-Cinepramaan was introduced in 2017, it simplified the process of checking which films had been certified, what cuts were requested, and whether a movie received an A, U, or U/A rating. The platform included QR codes that linked directly to each film's certificate. Since the primary CBFC website often lacked updated information, this feature proved extremely useful. But now, users can no longer search for or view film details on the revised version of the site, which has removed the QR code functionality as well. Industry voices call it a 'step backwards' The move is being widely criticized within the film industry. 'For years, we've been trying to build a case against arbitrary cuts,' said a director whose political film is currently awaiting CBFC approval. 'The fact that journalists and activists could cross-reference changes was a quiet deterrent [to the body]. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 21st Century Skills Start with Confident Communication Planet Spark Learn More Undo Now, that's gone. This might seem like a small tweak, but the message it sends is clear—they don't want us to see what's being cut. ' Under the Cinematograph Act of 1952, the CBFC is required to publish certificates for all films. With this update, many fear the little progress that had been made toward transparency in the certification process is being undone. One insider noted that public visibility has 'significantly decreased,' making it nearly impossible to track what is being removed and why. So far, the CBFC has not responded to questions regarding the rationale behind the portal's overhaul or whether a new version will be launched to comply with statutory requirements.

Aamir Khan Breaks Down While Reading Emotional Fan Letter: ‘Ye Bilkul Hum Jaise Hai Na'
Last Updated: Aamir Khan was moved to tears after reading a fan's letter about their specially-abled brother's reaction to Sitaare Zameen Par, calling it a powerful moment of representation. Aamir Khan is currently basking in the success of his recently released film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. The Bollywood superstar recently sat down with the cast of the film to read and respond to heartfelt fan letters, reflecting on the powerful impact the film has had on viewers. Aamir got extremely emotional, and was moved to tears while reading a touching letter from a fan. In the letter, the fan shared their specially-abled brother's reaction after watching the film. They thanked Aamir and his team for not just making a movie, but for showing the power of true representation on screen. Aamir teared up while reading the letter and was so moved that he suggested inviting the fan and their brother for lunch. Aamir Khan shared a video of the team of Sitaare Zameen Par reacting to fan letters. In the video, he is seen reading out a letter from the fan. It read, 'Dear Aamir Sir and the AKP team, This Saturday, when the credits had finished rolling. The lights were slowly coming back on. Around us, the theatre emptied out with people chatting, checking phones, heading home. But in the third row from the back, we sat still. My elder brother, who is specially-abled (has cerebral palsy, and both mentally and physically challenged) just kept staring at the now blank screen, silent tears quietly streaming down his face. And then he turned to me and whispered the words that will stay with me for the rest of my life: 'Yeh bilkul hum jaise hai na? (They are exactly like us)." That's when I truly understood what you had done. You hadn't just made a film. You had opened a door to our world and invited the entire country inside. THE POWER OF REPRESENTATION ON SCREEN." Overwhelmed, Aamir couldn't finish reading the letter himself and asked director RS Prasanna to continue. He struggled to hold back tears, and was seen wiping them away. Learning that the fan's brother lives in Bandra and has a birthday coming up, Aamir immediately suggested inviting him home for lunch, saying they could celebrate together. 'We should meet him. Yeh to Bandra mein rehta hai. One of these days, we will call them home, and then we will have a lunch or something. Tomorrow is his birthday? Oh tomorrow I am in Delhi. But we can meet him on Sunday or something. We can tell him we are celebrating 2 days later. That's a good idea. Let's celebrate his birthday. Let's meet him for lunch," said Aamir.
