Construction is already underway for 1.1 lakh Indiramma houses, with work on the remaining units set to begin soon. The govt has sanctioned 4.5 lakh housing units in the first phase of the scheme. "The opposition is fearful and conspiring against us because our welfare programmes are transforming the lives of the poor for the better. Regardless of their conspiracies, this govt will continue to work tirelessly for the people. The aspirations of the poor can only be realised through the Congress govt," he said. He added that had the previous BRS govt fulfilled its promise to build 2-BHK homes for the poor during its 10-year tenure, there would have been no need for the current administration to invest thousands of crores in the Indiramma Housing Scheme. The present govt, he asserted, will boost revenues and channel them into welfare initiatives, enabling the poor to live with dignity. He further stated that 93 lakh families across the state are currently receiving fine rice free of cost through fair price shops. "We are providing gas cylinders at 500 each and supplying free electricity up to 200 units for the poor. The govt is also distributing Cheyutha monthly pensions to the elderly, persons with disabilities, and single women," he added.
