‘Nest of violence': Video shows wild brawl at London Tube station

News.com.au18-07-2025
The terrifying moment a brawl broke out at a busy Tube station in London has been caught on camera, showing a toddler caught up in the chaos.
The fight allegedly broke out between three men at Highbury and Islington Station on Thursday, July 17 at around 5.30pm, The Sun reported.
Video footage, which can be seen below, shows the moment a group of men start violently punching and kicking one another as commuters rush to get out of the way.
Amid the chaos is a young toddler, who appeared to have been abandoned at the bottom of the stairs.
Nearby, a baby in a pram can be seen crying as the fight breaks out on the opposite side of the barrier and the stairwell descends into chaos.
The video starts just after the brawl broke out, with a man on the floor being repeatedly punched by a group of men.
A suited man who ran up the stairs quickly begins stomping on the head of the grey tracksuit-wearing man.
Another commuter coming down the stairs tries to pull him away before another man intervenes, with the pair managing to restrain him from the attack.
The man in the suit then leans over the divider on the stairwell, grabs a backpack and launches it backwards.
Once he is released by his detainees, he then immediately rejoins the fight.
Several men lift the man in the tracksuit into the air as he thrashes wildly, kicking at the others.
The suited man then continues to kick him repeatedly before the man being attacked is dropped onto his back on the stairs.
He can then be seen trying to crawl up the stairs while at least three men continue to punch him.
Meanwhile, commuters can be seen waiting at the top of the stairs as they watch the fight, or trying to dash quickly past.
A woman who had been holding the pram can be heard screaming throughout the video as she earlier rushed towards the toddler.
The man who had earlier detained the alleged attacker eventually gives up, backing away from the ongoing altercation.
Another woman also tries to resolve the situation but backs away when she nearly gets caught by a punch.
She discourages a woman in a yellow dress from getting involved in the situation as she can be seen holding the arm of one of the reported attackers.
The woman then grabs one of the other men as the video cuts out.
British Transport Police hasn't yet released details of the incident, however, eyewitnesses claim one man punched the other while he was holding the baby, causing the toddler to fall to the ground.
'Officers received a report of a fight at Highbury and Islington Underground station at around 5.30pm yesterday,' the force said in a statement.
'Officers are aware of footage circulating on social media, and the incident is currently being investigated.'
Comments on the video expressed concern for the toddler who had been left sitting on the floor throughout the ordeal.
'Crazy, that poor kid could have been trampled,' one wrote.
'Odd that no one is picking up that baby and he is at risk of that whole nest of violence falling down upon him, and they'd most probably carry on brawling on top of him,' another said.
A third comment read: 'This is just awful. That poor little boy on the floor. I do hope he's ok.'
Metropolitan Police said that the incident was being handled by British Transport Police as the incident took place inside the station.

Huge update on 5 year neighbour dispute over untrimmed hedge

A UK couple has won a bitter neighbour dispute over an untrimmed hedge after five years of furious feuding. Keith Smith, 71, and his wife Julie, 68, were locked in a feud with their neighbours in Prestonfield, Edinburgh, over the height of a hedge, The Sun reports. The Smiths claimed the untrimmed cypress trees, belonging to David Hunter and Niena Hunter Mistry, made their lives a misery. The row of trees sparked a five-year battle between the two couples. The neighbour war grew so bitter that it involved the Edinburgh City Council, the Scottish Government and even the police. The Smiths claim the trees cast a shadow across their garden, forcing the pensioners to live out their retirement in darkness. Demanding the trees be chopped down, the Smiths turned to the local authority but were left frustrated when they were refused. The couple paid a massive £350 ($A712) fee for a High Hedge Notice application which was denied after a visit from a city council officer. Appealing the decision, the Smiths won and managed to successfully have the trees trimmed back to 8.5ft in 2023. After the bush was trimmed the Smiths claim that gaps where the tree once stood were suddenly replaced by gardening tools, including ladders, pipes and concrete. The pair went on to claim the trim was inadequate and called for the council to come back, which they did and agreed that the remaining trees should be further cut back. Mr Hunter left a single tree standing untrimmed however which he claimed was not part of the 'boundary hedge' and therefore not subject to the High Hedge Notice. The Smiths then insisted the remaining tree be cut back too with the dispute turning ugly again. The couple, who have lived in their home for 44 years, continued their brutal battle to have the foliage lopped back. Things got so bad that in June of last year the police were called to the quiet suburb where they issued 'two men' with 'recorded police warnings'. Mr Smith previously claimed to Edinburgh Live his neighbours' behaviour had been 'atrocious' and branded the couple's actions 'absolutely appalling'. The hedge owners refused to chop down their bush and claimed they felt harassed and intimidated by the Smiths. The Smiths previously said: 'We, the Smiths, have suffered hugely financially, emotionally and physically by this process and sincerely hope, this will now lead to resolution.' An appeal launched by Mr Hunter in a bid to save his tree was rejected and the last remaining part of the hedge will now have to be cut back to 8.5ft. Mr Hunter insisted the remaining tree was not part of the hedge and begged that it be allowed to stand. He said in a document seen by the Mail Online: 'The individual tree identified in the varied notice cannot reasonably be said to be part of the boundary hedge. 'It appears as a separate individual tree and has never been trimmed. 'We would be very grateful if you would take all our points and concerns into account and request that you quash the revised high hedge notice.' Despite his pleas Mr Hunter was ordered to cut back the remaining piece of his hedge to 8.5ft in line with the previous High Hedge Notice. The Smiths were delighted after a government official stated the tree did in fact cast a shadow over a 'significant' portion of their garden. The official also stated the previous High Hedge Notice applied to the whole hedge, including the remaining tree. Despite the best efforts of Mr Hunter the government official ruled the hedge damaged the Smith's enjoyment of their home. The government ruled the remaining part of the hedge is now subject to the High Hedge Notice and should be trimmed to 8.5ft.

Three-second clip exposes Donald Trump's cheating on Scottish course

US President Donald Trump's 'exploits' on the golf course are going viral all over again. Trump is an avid golfer and has regularly made all sorts of claims about club championship victories and his overall ability on the course. The 79-year-old is in Scotland for a three-day tour, visiting his own Trump Turnberry course and Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire during the brief visit. In between rounds, he also joined European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen to announce the United States' 15 per cent tariff on all imports from the EU. But it is a moment from a caddy during Trump's time on the course on Sunday (Monday AEST) that has also gained plenty of attention. In the video you can see above, two caddies or on course officials in red vests are seen walking ahead of the president in his golf cart. One of them slows down before bending over and rather sheepishly dropping a ball onto the first cut of rough, a few feet short of a bunker and clear of the much thicker rough on the Scottish layout. Trump then gets out of his cart, club in hand, ready to hit his next shot. It was a moment that was jumped on by a huge number of people on social media. Author Richard Hanania tweeted the video along with the caption: 'Oh my God this is so pathetic. Trump's cronies drop the golf ball in front of him. He pretends to notice it at that spot. Today, MAGA influencers are tweeting out almost identical messages about his golf swing. We really are in North Korea.' US veteran John Jackson also noticed the incident, writing on X: 'Trump caught cheating at golf, watch the second guy in the red vest toss a ball behind him.' An X account called Wu Tang is for the Children also wrote: 'LMAO for the morons that think Trump doesn't cheat at golf and wins all those club championships fair and square … watch his caddie here.' Hundreds of X users were also commenting on the vision. American health professional Craig Beam said: 'I could get my index down considerably if I had his caddie with me every time I played.' One quipped: 'It is a known fact that had Trump played professional golf, he would have ranked above Tiger Woods and been the winningest golfer in history. Even at 80, with a little more practice, he could win on the Tour.' Another wrote: 'I love how the guy throws the ball back like he's trying to make it look as though he didn't put it there lol.' Another referenced a classic episode from The Simpsons, writing: 'That's what Smithers did for Montgomery Burns.' A fourth wrote: 'The Mystery of how Trump is winning all these golf tournaments solved.' As always with Trump's staunch base of supporters, there were also a number of comments keen to debunk the footage. While the body language of the caddy did appear somewhat damning, many were doing their best to insist it was a normal act out on the course. 'Please learn golf before you post. It's called a drop. Common in golf. He's actually a very good golfer. He doesn't need to cheat,' wrote one supporter. 'Assuming his ball was out of play or in the shrubs, his caddie was simply putting one out for him to play. Pretty standard,' stated a second. — Toph (@tophalba33) July 27, 2025 'Didn't see any ball dropping. Those fellows are secret service checking out the terrain before the cart arrives,' suggested another. 'When you lose a ball, you drop a new one with a penalty, that's kinda how golf works,' said a fourth. A fifth wrote simply: 'Amazing golf swing sir!' During the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election, Trump boasted about his latest club championship at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Shortly after claiming he weighed 215 pounds (97kg) and stood six-foot-three (190cm), dimensions that would put Trump's physical appearance alongside the likes of Muhammad Ali in his boxing prime and Tom Brady, he posted on his own Truth Social site that he had won the senior club championship. There is very little actual footage of Trump on the course, with one being a viral video of him badly shanking an attempted chip in July 2023 playing in Los Angeles (see below). In the Bedminster event, it wasn't just the claim of his victory that raised eyebrows, it was also his supposed score. Trump stated he shot a round of 67 at the course, which has a par score of 72. 'I am pleased to report, for those that care, that I just won the Senior Club Championship (must be over 50 years old!) at Bedminster (Trump National Golf Club), shooting a round of 67,' Trump posted. 'Now, some people will think that sounds low, but there is no hanky/lanky. Many people watch, plus I am surrounded by Secret Service Agents. 'Not much you can do even if you wanted to, and I don't. For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete – I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honour!' We understand 'hanky/lanky' was a typo when he meant hanky panky, which usually refers to somewhat inappropriate sexual activity. A score of five-under on most championship-level golf courses, which Trump National is, would please seasoned professionals. Trump then remarkably shared the contact details of the head golf professional from Bedminster, Mickey Gallagher, for anyone looking to verify his performance. Author and former sports columnist Rick Reilly also released a book back in 2019 titled Commander in Cheat: How golf explains Trump. During his round on Sunday, Trump's security team also debuted what appeared to be a heavily armoured golf cart 10 months after a would-be assassin aimed an SKS-style rifle toward him at his West Palm Beach tee resort. As the president played at the Trump Turnberry course in South Ayrshire, an imposing, apparently heavily fortified black vehicle followed close behind. Security experts said it showed all the hallmarks of an armour-reinforced golf cart in the mold of Trump's official limo, aka 'The Beast'. Trump drove a standard white golf cart as he played, but the bulky silhouette of the latest addition to his security fleet — which appears to be a modified Polaris Ranger XP — stood out like a sore thumb on the course. Stepped-up hardware to protect Trump on the golf course would not be unexpected given he survived a pair of assassination attempts last year. On September 15, Ryan Routh, 59, trained a rifle styled after a Soviet-designed semiautomatic at Trump's security detail as the president walked along the fifth hole at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida. Less than an hour later, Routh was apprehended during a traffic stop and charged with the attempted assassination of Trump. Two months earlier, Trump survived another assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, carried out by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

‘Just do it': Abbie Chatfield sparks outrage with shocking call to American ‘incels'

Abbie Chatfield is under fire for a video heavily insinuating 'incels' should harm US President Donald Trump. The Sydney-based social media personality, 30, a prominent left-wing podcaster and influencer, shared the clip to TikTok where she referenced 'incels' and asked 'when are you going to do it?', without directly naming the President. Incel, short for 'involuntarily celibate', refers to an online subculture of young men who blame women for denying them sexual attention. A number of so-called incels have been involved in violent attacks, most notoriously Alek Minassian, 32, who killed 10 people and injured 16 when he drove a van into a crowd of pedestrians in Toronto, Canada, in 2018. Chatfield, who regularly posts videos railing against Mr Trump, did not directly name the President in her video, but hinted he should be harmed while making a gun symbol with her fingers. 'Americans, when are you going to do it?' she said. 'Why is it not already done? Every day, there's another [gun symbol] happening, right? Awful for your country, right? Awful, right? Why don't we redirect this energy to something else, you know? 'There's all these incels, 'no one wants to f**k me', so they go and do [gun symbol]. You know what would actually make people respect you a little bit, and maybe want to f**k you? Is if you did it. 'You'd get heaps of fan mail. Oh my God. Oh my God. Just do it. Like, you're all doing it every day anyway. Like, I don't f**king get it.' Chatfield's management has been contacted for comment. Chatfield, a former Bachelor star who now hosts the popular podcast It's A Lot, has more than 1.2 million followers on Instagram and TikTok. Social media users condemned the video, which comes as the US experiences a disturbing rise in politically motivated violence. 'This isn't free speech,' wrote X user Chris Mate. 'It's not activism. It's incitement — and at the very least, she should be detained and questioned by federal police.' Another user wrote, 'This is the person who Albanese promotes.' Chatfield interviewed Mr Albanese on her podcast in February in the lead-up to the election. The pair discussed a range of issues including political strategy and voter engagement, climate change, women's rights, Mr Albanese's upcoming wedding, the war in the Middle East and Mr Trump. Chatfield, a vocal Greens supporter, later came under fire from feminist activist Clementine Ford, who branded her a 'f**king fake' over her political views, particularly on Palestine. Mr Trump has already narrowly survived two assassination attempts. Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, shot then-candidate Trump in the ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 last year, killing crowd member Corey Comperatore, 50, and severely injuring two others. Crooks was immediately shot and killed by Secret Service snipers. Just nine weeks later, on September 15, Ryan Wesley Routh, 59, allegedly attempted to assassinate Mr Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The North Carolina construction worker was allegedly lying in wait with an AK-style rifle in the bushes by the golf course when he was spotted by a Secret Service agent, who opened fire and caused Mr Routh to flee the scene before being captured nearby. He has pleaded not guilty to five federal charges, including attempted assassination. His trial has been set for September 8. In addition to the attacks on Mr Trump, a number of other high-profile killings have recently shocked the US. Luigi Mangione, 27, accused of gunning down health insurance CEO Brian Thompson, 50, in New York in December, has attracted a large fanbase of largely left-wing, female supporters. Mr Mangione has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges including murder and will return to court in December. Last month, a Minnesota Democratic state representative and her husband were killed in their home in a 'politically motivated assassination', with another politician and his wife surviving being shot multiple times. Vance Boelter, 57, was captured after a massive manhunt. Mr Boelter plans to plead not guilty to murder charges, which could carry the death penalty.
