USC lands another No. 1 prospect in women's basketball as Saniyah Hall commits
Hall, a 6-foot-2 guard from northeast Ohio, announced her decision last week on ESPN's 'NBA Today.'
USC has landed three of the last four No. 1 recruits, with Hall joining JuJu Watkins in 2023 and Jasmine Davidson in 2025.
Watkins is expected to miss most of the upcoming season with a torn ACL that she suffered during the women's NCAA Tournament. She would most likely return for the 2026-27 season, which would be Hall's freshman year.
Hall, who turns 17 on Wednesday, recently helped the United States win gold at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup. She averaged 19.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists and was named MVP of the tournament.
Hall will play for SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, for her senior season after transferring from Montverde Academy in central Florida.

Essex Town is back representing Vermont in the New England regional for the first time since 2021. Essex Town is aiming to be the first team from Vermont to ever advance to Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Vermont opens the tournament against Bedford (N.H.) Little League on Saturday, Aug. 2. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. on ESPN+. Last year, the New Hampshire team won the New England Regional as Bedford, back in the regional for the first time since 2016, looks to become the seventh team from the Granite State to advance to the Little League World Series. How they got here Essex Town (Team Vermont) won the state tournament in Brattleboro with a combined no-hitter by David Bent and Dylan Markey in the championship game. The final score was 4-0 as Essex Town won despite having to work through the losers bracket. Bedford (Team New Hampshire) swept the best-of-three championship series against runner-up Portsmouth. Bedford outscored Portsmouth 17-4 in two games. Bedford closed out the series with an 8-2 victory to punch its ticket to Bristol. Hamby's basket with 4.3 seconds left gives Sparks 108-106 win over Storm 108-106 in 2 OTs
SEATTLE -- Dearica Hamby's layup with 4.3 seconds left gave the Los Angeles Sparks a 108-106 win over the Seattle Storm on Friday night in the first double-overtime game in the WNBA this season. Hamby put up a contested shot but Skylar Diggins' similar shot on the other end fell off the rim as time expired. Rickea Jackson had 27 points to lead the Sparks (12-15), who have won six of seven. Kelsey Plum added 22 points and seven assists, while Hamby and Azura Stevens both had 21. Hamby also had 13 rebounds. Cameron Brink had seven points, four rebounds, three blocks, two steals and five fouls in 12 minutes in her second game back after ACL surgery last season. Nneka Ogwumike scored 37 points, one shy of her career high when she played with the Sparks nine years ago, and grabbed 12 rebounds for Seattle (16-12). She became the sixth player to reach 7,000 points for her career. Diggins had 18 points, Erica Wheeler 15 and Gabby Williams 14 points and eight assists. Ezi Magbegor had nine points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. There were 14 ties and 12 lead changes. Plum's three-point play following her 3-pointer gave the Sparks a 69-68 lead, their first since ending the first quarter up 18-16. in the second overtime. Diggins tied the game at 99 with 18 seconds left in the first extra session before Plum missed at the buzzer. Jackson tied the game at 86 with 4.3 seconds left in regulation and Wheeler missed a contest 3 at the buzzer.

Ally Schlegel's 2nd-half goal gives Chicago Stars a 1-1 tie with Gotham FC
Ally Schlegel scored in the 68th minute to give the Chicago Stars a 1-1 draw with Gotham FC on Friday night at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview. Khyah Harper scored her first professional goal to give Gotham (5-5-4) a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute. The diving header was assisted by fellow rookie Sarah Schupansky. Schlegel's goal came from Shea Groom playing a corner kick short to Julia Grosso, who crossed the ball to the back post. Gotham forward Midge Purce left with a hamstring injury in the 18th minute. In April, Purce returned from an ACL injury that had sidelined her for 13 months. Just six days after winning the 2025 Women's European Championship in Basel, Switzerland, with England, Gotham defender Jess Carter started and played 77 minutes The Stars (1-9-4) extended their winless run to nine matches.
