Authorities review safety measures at husseiniyas
KUWAIT: National Guard Undersecretary Lt Gen Hashem Al-Rifai and Director General of the General Fire Force Lt Gen Talal Al-Roumi conducted a joint inspection tour to review fire safety measures and security readiness at husseiniyas and mourning gatherings held during the month of Muharram.
During the visit, the officials inspected fire force teams assigned to safeguard these venues, checking on their preparedness, adherence to safety protocols and fire prevention measures. Al-Roumi praised the significant efforts of firefighters and their cooperation with security and volunteer agencies, stressing the importance of coordination among all relevant authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
The tour included participation from senior leadership of the Kuwait Fire Force as well as officials from the ministry of interior and Kuwait National Guard. Discussions emphasized the need for joint coordination and field readiness to maintain the highest levels of safety for attendees of the mourning gatherings.
Lt Gen Al-Rifai also inspected the 'Salem' task force of the National Guard, which is responsible for securing the outer perimeter of mourning venues during Muharram in cooperation with the ministry of interior. According to a statement from the National Guard, Al-Rifai conveyed greetings and appreciation from the Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and Deputy Chief Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah, recognizing the unit's vital role in supporting their counterparts in the interior ministry.
He praised the collaboration between National Guard personnel, the ministry of interior and Kuwait Fire Force, noting that such efforts reflect a unified and integrated approach to maintaining public safety. During the tour, Al-Rifai received a briefing on the unit's operations and procedures for securing 19 schools across the Capital and Hawally governorates, assessing their preparedness and compliance with directives. — KUNA

Three Fake ‘Sons' Exposed in Kuwaiti Citizenship Fraud
KUWAIT CITY, July 3: In a continued crackdown on nationality fraud, Kuwait's Nationality Investigation Department has uncovered a new case involving three individuals falsely registered as Kuwaiti citizens, traced back to a 2017 forgery case that initially led to the arrest of a Syrian national. From 2017 Arrest to 2024 Revelations The original case dates back to 2017, when a Syrian national was arrested after being found to have fraudulently obtained Kuwaiti citizenship by falsely claiming kinship with a Kuwaiti citizen. Both men were prosecuted at the time. According to informed sources, the Kuwaiti accomplice was arrested again in 2022 to serve a seven-year prison sentence. He is currently incarcerated at Kuwait's Central Prison. Routine Review Uncovers Anomalies As part of the Nationality Investigation Department's standard protocol to re-examine all nationality files tied to forgery cases, officials conducted a DNA audit on individuals listed as the prisoner's children. The goal was to verify their biological link and detect any potential additions made through fraudulent means. Three Sons Not Biologically Related The investigation revealed that DNA samples from three individuals listed as the man's sons (already on file due to prior legal interactions) had not previously been cross-verified. When matched against the imprisoned father's DNA, none of the three were found to be biologically related to him. Father Admits the Truth in Prison Detectives visited the Central Prison to confront the man with the DNA evidence. When presented with the findings, he confessed: 'The three are not my sons.'
