Priyanka Chopra was also supposed to collaborate with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt for Jee Le Zara. However, there is no update on the film's shoot schedule as of now.
Global icon Priyanka Chopra has admitted that even she misses working in the Hindi film industry. Recently, the actress was promoting her newly released movie, Heads of State, when she opened up about being away for a long time. 'I miss Hindi movies and I miss India so much," she told India Today.
However, the actress shared that she is working in India currently and will soon star in SS Rajamouli's upcoming movie, SSMB29. 'I'm working in India this year, and I'm really excited about that," she added.
What Do We Know About SSMB29?
Also starring Mahesh Babu, director SS Rajamouli has been keeping the details of SSMB29 under wraps. However, for now, it is known that the film is expected to be an action-adventure drama in the vein of Indiana Jones, a genre Rajamouli's father and veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad has also confirmed in several interviews.
Rajamouli even did a location recce in Kenya back in 2024, which suggests that at least a part of the movie will be filmed there. The shoot was initially expected to begin in mid-2024, but delays in pre-production pushed things further.
During a special screening of RRR in Japan earlier, Rajamouli had given a small but sweet update on the project. 'His name is Mahesh Babu, he is a Telugu actor (people hoot). Looks like many of you already know him. He is very handsome. Hopefully, we finish the film a little bit fast and during the release, I will bring him here, and I'll introduce him to you. I'm sure you will love him as well," he had said.
Priyanka Chopra's Another Hindi Movie – Jee Le Zara
PeeCee was also supposed to collaborate with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt for Farhan Akhtar's movie – Jee Le Zara. However, there is no update on the film's shoot schedule as of now. In February this year, Farhan opened up about the delay in this film when he told The Hindu, 'The astronomy of it is all messed up: my rahu is in my ketu (laughs). Unfortunately, it will take more time. I am optimistic that it will happen when it has to happen. There is a time for everything. I don't want to stress out over this one project. I have other things to do (like Don 3 with Ranveer Singh)."

How censorship affects the artistic expression in film

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) For filmmakers, cinema is more than entertainment—it's a medium to voice ideas, reflect reality, and challenge norms. But censorship can often shackle this intent. The recent controversy surrounding 'JSK: Janaki vs. State of Kerala', starring Suresh Gopi, lays bare the struggle. The CBFC's objection to the character name "Janaki"—a reference also associated with a Hindu goddess—forced the makers into a difficult corner, raising questions about how far creative choices can stretch before crossing invisible lines. Narratives rewritten, messages muted Censorship doesn't just trim scenes—it can twist the spine of a story. In JSK's case, the board's refusal to clear the film due to its title and character representation has delayed its release. Such interference risks muting stories that tackle real, difficult issues like sexual assault. When films are modified to appease sensibilities, their emotional and social impact can be lost. Janaki vs State Of Kerala - Official Hindi Teaser (Picture Courtesy: Facebook) 'We are moving backwards' - Actor Vinu Mohan Speaking to the media regarding the 'JSK' censorship controversy, the 'Nivedhyam' actor Vinu Mohan said, 'There's a sequence I acted in that film, and if the film was released today, I fear I could have invited some issues. There was a time when art was valued as a form of expression. Sadly, we now seem to be heading towards a mindset where it's more likely to be seen as offensive.' He further said that censorship would become a norm. The actor added, 'That's why we're protesting — to ensure these incidents don't become a pattern,' Director Abhinav Sunder Nayak on 'Oppenheimer' censorship - Those scenes were crucial to character exploration During the time when Christopher Nolan's epic drama film 'Oppenheimer' was released, the Indian audiences were only able to watch the censored version which removed the explicit scenes in the film. (Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Reacting to the same, the director Abhinav Sunder Nayak told exclusively to ETimes, 'I cannot arrive at a conclusion whether the censorship of the explicit sequences in the movie has hampered my experience as I have not watched the full version yet. From what I saw from the censored version of 'Oppenheimer', I think Christopher Nolan wanted to explore much into the fact that J Robert Oppenheimer was a womanizer, and the inclusion of those explicit sequences could have worked well as the movie lays emphasis on character study. ' 'How can one experience what the director intended to convey?' The 'Mukundan Unni Associates' director further said that the director's original message gets affected if some pivotal sequences are edited away from the movie. Abhinav further told us, 'From what I saw, I think Nolan wrote the film's story highlighting the sex life of Robert Oppenheimer and that should be also viewed from a psychological perspective. If those pivotal sequences are cut away from the movie then how can one experience what the director intended to convey? I really can't point out what all I have missed from that character's life journey. ' Fear of silence, fear of repercussions Perhaps the most damaging consequence is the unseen one: fear. The fear that bold content won't make it past the board often leads to self-censorship. 'JSK's struggle has stirred Kerala's film fraternity to protest—not just for one film, but for every story waiting to be told without fear.

‘Kannappa' box office collections day 7: Vishnu Manchu's film mints Rs 30.10 crores

After much hype and anticipation, 'Kannappa', the mythological epic headlined by Vishnu Manchu, has concluded its first week at the box office with underwhelming figures. Despite boasting a massive star ensemble including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal in key roles, the film has earned Rs 30.10 crore (India net) in seven days. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Slow slide after a strong start According to the Sacnilk website, the film opened to a decent start on its first Friday as it collected Rs 9.35 crore across all languages. However, the weekend showed a gradual dip instead of growth, with Saturday bringing in Rs 7.15 crore and Sunday closing at Rs 6.9 crore. While these numbers indicated a mild fall, the real trouble began post-weekend. The weekday collections saw a sharp decline as Monday brought just Rs 2.3 crore, followed by Rs 1.8 crore on Tuesday. The trend continued with ₹1.35 crore on Wednesday and Rs 1.25 crore on Thursday (early estimates). Low occupancy adds to woes 'Kannappa' struggled with theatre occupancy too. On its seventh day, the Telugu version saw an average occupancy of only 12.89%. Morning shows stood at 11.06%, improving slightly for night shows at 13.99%. The situation was more grim for the Hindi version, which recorded just 6.61% overall occupancy — the morning shows started as low as 4.31%. Star power couldn't save the mythological drama Kannappa - Official Hindi Trailer Directed with grandeur and ambition, 'Kannappa' was expected to ride on the shoulders of its leading cast and visual scale. Alongside Vishnu Manchu, the film features veteran actors like Mohan Babu and R. Sarathkumar, along with a special appearance by Prabhas. But the early signs indicate that star power alone hasn't been enough to pull the audience in consistently. Unless a miraculous turnaround happens over the next weekend, 'Kannappa' might end up being one of the biggest underperformers among big-budget mythological releases this year.
