
2 people taken to hospital after separate crashes involving motorcycles in Winnipeg
One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition after a crash between a motorcycle and a car at around 9:40 p.m. on Osborne Street near Don Avenue, Winnipeg police said.
The person has since been upgraded to stable, a police spokesperson said in an email Friday morning.
Emergency responders were on scene Thursday evening. A badly damaged car with airbags deployed was parked on the side of the road, while a motorcycle missing its front wheel sat nearby.
Earlier that evening, a motorcyclist was airlifted after a collision near the westbound Perimeter Highway and Pembina Highway.
Police said the single-vehicle crash happened at around 7:30 p.m. A man in his early 20 was airlifted to hospital in critical condition. A news release issued Friday around noon said he remained unstable with serious injuries.

Winnipeg police are looking for a young suspect after a man was attacked with a machete outside a 7-Eleven near the Polo Park area. Officers were called Thursday at around 10:45 p.m. to the convenience store in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue, police said in a release Sunday. Officers responded to the assault on July 3 at 10:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue. According to police, the victim was attacked by an unknown suspect with a machete, leading to serious injuries. A passerby used a belt as a makeshift tourniquet to help the victim before emergency crews arrived. Officers from the West District applied a second tourniquet. The victim was moved to hospital in stable condition. The suspect remains at large. He is described as a male between 15 and 17 years old, approximately 5'6' to 5'10' tall, with a slim build, light complexion, and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black Tupac T-shirt, ripped black jeans, dark sandals with white or grey socks, and carrying a grey backpack. Police say he was accompanied by two other teens at the time of the assault.
