HYDERABAD: BRS working president and former minister KT Rama Rao asserted that his commitment to Telangana's development transcends political power. 'India First, Telangana First — this is not just a slogan, it's our policy direction,' Rama Rao declared, reaffirming his dedication to promoting Telangana's interests on global platforms.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Pragmatic Design Solutions Limited Knowledge Centre at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, on Saturday.
Rama Rao highlighted the BRS government's role in transforming Hyderabad into one of India's leading automotive hubs. 'Under the BRS regime, Hyderabad stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Pune and Chennai as a major centre for the automotive industry,' he said, crediting this achievement to the party's progressive industrial policies and visionary planning.
The BRS MLA emphasised that Telangana must now aim to become the top destination for automobile manufacturing in India.
'Telangana first state in country to host Formula E'
He noted that Telangana was the first state in the country to host the prestigious Formula E Championship, underscoring its commitment to innovation in the mobility sector.
Recalling the BRS government's success in attracting global tech giants, he pointed out that companies like Google, Amazon and Facebook established their largest campuses in Hyderabad under its leadership.

HYDERABAD: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is preparing the ground to contest the forthcoming by-election to the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency in the city. The bypoll is crucial for all the major political parties - Congress, BRS, BJP and AIMIM - as its result is expected to influence the elections to 150 wards of the GHMC, which are likely to be held by year-end or early next year. The AIMIM had contested this seat in the 2014 and 2023 assembly elections, finishing second and fourth, respectively. The constituency has a sizable population of Muslim and SC voters. AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP has directed the party leaders to prepare for the bypoll. There is speculation that both BRS and Congress may consider holding talks with the AIMIM, as a split in the Muslim vote bank could mar the chances of both parties. The BRS has not lost this seat since the formation of Telangana state. Political observers said the AIMIM contesting the 2023 assembly polls boosted the victory prospects of the then-ruling BRS. In the polls, MIM candidate Mohammed Rashed Farazuddin secured nearly 8,000 votes, finishing fourth. In the 2014 election, AIMIM's Naveen Yadav polled nearly 42,000 votes and finished second. The party did not contest the seat in 2018. The talk in political circles is that the AIMIM entering the electoral battle from Jubilee Hills in the 2023 poll was allegedly to help the BRS. It was more of a friendly sort of contest, said the political analysts. However, the AIMIM, which had openly supported the BRS in the 2023 assembly elections, appears to have changed its strategy after the Congress came to power in the state in Dec 2023. However, a senior leader said the party is extending issue-based support to Congress govt. "Our main objective is the development of Muslims, SCs, STs, BCs, EWS, and other marginalised communities. Any move to support the govt will be taken keeping in view the welfare of these sections and the development of the Old City. We have started working in Jubilee Hills. As far as contesting elections or finalising the candidate for the bypoll is concerned, the party will decide at an appropriate time," said a senior leader of the AIMIM.

BRS doing propaganda on Jurala, Manjeera: Uttam
Hyderabad: StateIrrigation, Food & Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday strongly condemned what he described as the propaganda and 'highly condemnable disinformation' being spread by BRS leaders over the condition of old irrigation projects such as Jurala and Manjeera. He said that the issues being witnessed today in these projects were directly the result of BRS's ten-year-long negligence and failure to carry out even routine maintenance, not because of any fault of the Congress government. He underlined that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had personally taken interest in safeguarding Jurala dam by acting decisively to sanction ₹100 crore for an alternative bridge. Revanth's move was intended to reduce heavy vehicular traffic on the Jurala dam surface and prevent any long-term damage to the dam structure, he explained. 'Revanth Reddy himself was particular that Jurala must be protected, and he ensured this sanction today,' Uttam Kumar Reddy said. He stressed that allegations regarding ropes and stroke gates at Jurala were a non-issue, and engineers and technical experts had clearly confirmed there was no threat to the dam's operations. 'BRS leaders are simply trying to do propaganda and mislead farmers, instead of owning up to their failures,' he charged. He reaffirmed that the Congress government was sincere and fully committed to properly maintaining all old projects while also building new ones for the long-term irrigation needs of Telangana. 'We are systematically restoring every project they ignored - Jurala, Manjeera, Nagarjuna Sagar, SRSP, Kalwakurthy, Koilsagar, Bhima – on priority for Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. Our goal is to make the entire undivided Mahabubnagar district green and lush again,' he stated. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who inspected Jurala along with Minister Vakiti Srihari, Planning Board Vice-Chairman Dr G Chinna Reddy, MLAs Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, Megha Reddy, Parinika Reddy, Vijayudu, AICC secretary Sampath Kumar, former ZP Chairperson Saritha Tirupathiah, Collector Santosh Kumar and senior engineers, said that no minimum operation and maintenance was carried out under BRS rule for ten years. There was no routine desiltation, no sediment or vegetation removal, and no upgrades, he said. 'Jurala's capacity alone has dropped by nearly 20–25% due to silt accumulation,' he revealed.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 28 (ANI): Former Minister and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) slammed the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in Telangana over its move to rename Annapurna Canteens as Indiramma Canteens. The Annapurna Canteen Scheme, launched by the previous Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, provided hot, hygienic, and nutritious meals for just Rs 5 to the poor, daily wage workers, and labourers in urban regions of Telangana. 'Mr. Revant Reddy, If you want to show your subservience to Delhi bosses, why don't you change your own name to Rajiv or Jawahar? Renaming Annapurna canteens is absolutely ridiculous and shameful. We shall undo all of these senseless actions in 2028 when BRS is back at the helm of the state, ' KTR posted on the social media platform X on Saturday. Earlier in the day, BRS Party corporators staged a protest at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office in Hyderabad, condemning the GHMC standing committee decision to change the Annapurna canteen's name to Indira Canteen. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National spokesperson NV Subhash also criticised the move, calling it a 'publicity stunt' aimed at impressing the Gandhi family. He demanded that the state government roll back the decision and suggested it was a 'return gift' to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. 'The BJP demands that the Congress government in Telangana roll back the names from Indira canteens to Annapurna canteens. What is the reason for the Congress government to rename the canteen, which is being run with funds from the state and GHMC, where people are fed for only Rs 5? Is it a return gift to Indira Gandhi on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the emergency... This is nothing but a publicity stunt where the CM Revanth Reddy govt chooses to impress the Gandhi family,' Subhash told ANI. BRS leader Krishank also slammed the government, stating that it should focus on fulfilling promises rather than changing names. He criticised the Congress government under Revanth Reddy for failing to bring in new schemes and pointed out that the name change was purely election-driven. 'The Congress government under CM Revanth Reddy's rule has done nothing for Hyderabad. Earlier, the KSR government had a Rs 5 Annapurna canteen for the poor, but now, as elections are approaching, Revanth Reddy's government has changed its name from Annapurna canteen to Indira Gandhi canteen. Why be a name changer, bring in new policies, and try to fulfil your 420 promises and guarantees that you have given? But the Congress government is all about changing names... This is really shameful... Revanth Reddy should stop pleasing the Gandhi family, stop being a Gulam to the Gandhi family, and instead try to please the voters who have voted for you', BRS leader Krishank said. Meanwhile, Congress leader Hanumantha Rao defended the decision, praising Indira Gandhi's contributions to the poor. He argued that the renaming was a fitting tribute to the former Prime Minister. Speaking to ANI, Rao said, 'The BRS government, under Annapurna Canteens, provided Rs 5 meals. Today, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, Indiramma Canteens provide meals at Rs 5. They have taken this name because Indira Gandhi brought a revolution; she implemented land ceiling, nationalised banks, and ensured insurance for land labourers. Revanth Reddy's Indiramma Canteen is a fitting tribute. Every poor person who eats that Rs 5 meal should remember Indira Gandhi, as the name is suitable. She brought a revolution in the lives of the poor. By adding her name, everyone will know about her work for the poor. The name for the canteens is fitting, and it should be maintained. Every poor person should eat the Rs 5 meal and remember Indira Gandhi forever. This initiative is good, and I appreciate Revanth Reddy.' (ANI)
