Belagavi: The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) celebrated
International Yoga Day
at Belagavi with a series of thoughtfully curated sessions and activities. The event commenced with an inaugural address by Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, the Commandant, who emphasised the growing relevance of yoga as a sustainable health practice that enhances both individual resilience and collective harmony.
He said the the 2025 theme – 'One Earth, One Health' – resonates deeply with the Army's ethos of self-discipline, balance, and unity with nature. Soldiers, families, and schoolchildren of Army Public School, Belagavi participated in large numbers, demonstrating their commitment to wellness. The week-long celebrations included a diverse array of practices such as Hath Yoga, Pranayama, and guided meditation.

Senior officer inspects operational readiness, training standards at MLIRC Belagavi

During his visit to the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, he interacted with veterans, acknowledging their invaluable service and reaffirming the Army's continued commitment to their welfare. He also visited the Army Public School where he felicitated students who had excelled in sports at various levels, appreciating their achievements and encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. As part of his visit, he also inaugurated the newly established Outpatient Department (OPD) section at the Military Hospital in Belagavi, marking a significant step towards enhancing medical facilities for serving personnel, veterans and their families, said a release.
