'They are too much dependent on Bumrah. It's not easy because you need more experienced bowlers, and they should play Kuldeep Yadav,' Azharuddin told PTI Videos, suggesting that the wrist-spinner's inclusion could offer more control and variety.

India will face England in the second Test starting July 2 in Birmingham. With conditions likely to favour spin later in the match, Azhar said picking the right bowling combination will be key to bouncing back from the Leeds defeat.
'We lost because of the batting collapse, but now they have to pick the right players. Bowling has to be perfect,' he noted.

Azhar also defended new Test captain Shubman Gill, who is leading India for the first time in a five-match series. 'This is just his first match as captain. You can't talk about captaincy so early. He should be given a fair chance, support, and time,' Azhar said.
The former skipper, who led India in 47 Tests, stressed that patience is crucial. 'We cannot just complain and criticise players like that,' he added.

Watch: Vaibhav Suryavanshi heaves fire with bat; India yet fall short as England level series 1-1

Vaibhav Suryavanshi of India (Photo by) NEW DELHI: Despite another solid knock of 45 runs from opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India fell agonizingly short as England edged a dramatic one-wicket victory in the second Youth ODI at Hove on Monday, levelling the five-match series 1-1. India had entered the match on a high after their commanding win in the opener, where Suryavanshi top-scored with 48. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The young right-hander continued his fine form, scoring a composed 45 to help India recover from a disastrous start after skipper Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for a golden duck. Watch: Alongside Suryavanshi, Vihaan Malhotra (49), Rahul Kumar (47), Kanishk Chouhan (45), and Abhigyan Kundu (32) all chipped in with useful contributions, guiding India to a competitive total of 290 in 49 overs. England's bowlers were far from disciplined, leaking 32 extras, including a staggering 26 wides. Still, AM French led the way with 4 for 71, while Jack Home (3/63) and Alex Green (3/50) shared the rest of the spoils. The chase, however, proved to be a rollercoaster. England stumbled early at 7 for 1 and later 47 for 3, with medium pacer RS Ambrish striking twice in quick succession. Poll Do you think India's batting lineup can bounce back in the next match? Yes, they will perform better No, they will struggle again But a magnificent counterattack from England captain Thomas Rew, who hammered 131 off just 89 balls (16 fours, 6 sixes), turned the tide. His 123-run stand with Rocky Flintoff (39) laid the foundation, but once Rew fell in the 40th over, the match swung back toward India. With England reduced to 254 for 8 by the 46th over, Ambrish (4/80) reignited hopes for India. England needed seven off the final over, and with only one wicket in hand, the game hung on a knife's edge. But Sebastian Morgan (20 not out) held his nerve, striking a boundary off the third ball of Yudhajit Guha's over to seal a heart-stopping win. Though India were left to rue missed chances, Suryavanshi's consistency at the top continues to be a bright spot. As the series heads into the third match, India will look to regroup and lean on their in-form opener to regain the lead. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. India vs England 2nd Test, Predicted Playing XI: Arshdeep-Kuldeep in, Shardul out?

The Indian cricket team faces big selection calls going into the 2nd Test match against England. India, who lost the opener of the 5-match series in Leeds last week, are expected to make big changes at Edgbaston, a venue where they lost against England in up to the 2nd Test, a lot of focus has been on the availability of Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming game. India captain Shubman Gill addressed the rumours of Jasprit Bumrah not playing in the 2nd Test match and stated that the fast bowler was available for selection, but the final call on his inclusion in the Test match would be taken on Tuesday also confirmed that India were going to play two spinners in the game, and a call on which two will be taken after seeing the final pitch on the morning of Day 1. India have the options of Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar on the bench. If they want an out-and-out attacking option, they are most certainly going to play the wrist Shardul dilemma Bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur was picked for the Test team on the back of a sensational performance in the Ranji Trophy. However, his time on the tour could be cut short as India are likely to bolster their tail with Nitish Reddy, who showed that he was an extremely capable red-ball batter in inclusion will mean that India will need a specialist bowler added to the line-up, which is likely to be one among Kuldeep or Washington Sundar. This in turn means that India will have to drop one among Karun Nair or Sai Sudharsan from the Gill has already called for more responsibility from the top order, which might hint that Sudharsan is going to retain his place in the line-up, at least for one more Test India Play Arshdeep?India have carried Arshdeep Singh in their squad for England. The white-ball superstar is the only left-arm fast bowler in the Indian side. The fans want to see some variety in the Indian line-up, a argument that has good merit. Shubman Gill In Chat With Gautam Gambhir After Looking At Edgbaston Pitch. Fans Left Intrigued

Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill went straight to examine the pitch at Edgbaston as soon as the pre-match press conference ended on Tuesday. Following the presser, Gill entered the ground and walked straight to the middle in order to look at the surface. According to a video posted by RevSportz on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), the youngster was joined by head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar along with Shiv Sundar Das - a member of the selection committee. The trio spent a long time looking at the surface and they also had a lengthy discussion among themselves. There has been a lot of speculation over the playing XI for the match and the nature of the Edgbaston pitch is expected to play a major part in deciding the personnel changes. Social media users were intrigued with the conversation and how the pitch can play a role in the encounter. With the side already 0-1 down after a five-wicket loss at Headingley, it is yet to be seen if India can afford to play without star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. 'Jasprit Bumrah is available. We are trying to find the right combination that can pick 20 wickets and score runs as well. Will take the final call after looking at the wicket for the final time today,' said Gill in the pre-game conference. The young Indian skipper also spoke on the difficulty that comes with Bumrah's absence. "It is difficult, but at the end of the day, our team comprises the best players in India. It is difficult but not impossible. The other players are playing for the country based on their performances. Luckily, we have a massive pool full of talent, which is why we are able to compete away from home,' he added. Much of India's woes in the first Test have to do with poor fielding. A number of dropped catches saw the Gill-led side become the first team in Test history to lose despite scoring five centuries across the two innings. Gill further spoke on why fielding in the slips is difficult in English conditions and hopes it was a one-off game for his side. "The ball does swing behind the wicket, and sometimes it is difficult to sight the ball behind the wicket. At the end of the day, we do know of the difficulties, but we have practised a lot. It is a one-off game where you drop five-seven catches, and hopefully it does not happen again,' Gill explained.
