The Chase's Shaun Wallace surprises followers with move away from ITV show
Shaun Wallace will appear in a brand new ITV show
The Chase star Shaun Wallace has announced a new move away from the ITV programme.
Shaun, who has been one of "the chasers" on Bradley Walsh's quiz since 2009, told fans he was "very excited" to be filming for a new show called The Great Escapers. In a video posted on X, which was called Twitter, Shaun, 65, described the project as "a wonderful, exciting holiday adventure".
The post read: "Very excited to be filming in Rhodes for a new show called 'The Great Escapers' with Mark @MarkLabbett and Jenny @jenlion. Looking forward to having a lot of fun with those two. Doing a spot of fitness in the sunshine, before we get going."
Mark Labbett and Jenny Ryan are also experts on The Chase. However, it is understood neither Shaun, Mark or Jenny are leaving the quiz as, often, regulars on ITV entertainment programmes appear as guests on other shows. Shaun, who is also a barrister, excited his 89,000 followers on X with the candid update. One fan gushed: "Have a swell time," while another commented: "Hope you win your episode, Shaun!"
Each episode of The Great Escapers will see celebrities from different backgrounds compete to plan the best day out. Other episodes will feature stars from Coronation Street and Loose Women, among other shows and fames, it is understood.
Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment and Daytime ITV said: "We've got some of ITV's best-known faces flying out to the most gorgeous destinations in this brand-new series. We can't wait to see the cast of Corrie, I'm A Celeb…, The Chase and Loose Women in all of their holiday glory!" The Great Escapers is in partnership with Jet2, one of the UK's largest tour operators. The series will air on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player later this year, according to Express.co.uk.
Shaun, known as The Dark Destroyer on The Chase, is one of the original "chasers" on the teatime show. He and Mark, 59, have appeared in each of the 18 regular series, and 14 celebrity seasons.
Last month, fans of the programme were furious because it was taken off air due to ITV's coverage of Royal Ascot. The Chase missed several episodes so the broadcaster could accommodate the racing event. Loose Women was also affected, as it was taken off air for three days; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, for the races.
The Chase first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV. It features regular contestants vying against each other, testing their general knowledge for the chance to bag a hefty cash prize.

Pet owners warned as Emmerdale airs dog attack storyline
Fans of the ITV soap will see vet Paddy Kirk hospitalised after being injured by two pet pooches owned by a new arrival farmer Celia, played by Death in Paradise's Jaye Griffiths. The plot will follow Celia's response to the attack, which Emmerdale insiders say will show her 'true colours'. Paddy will be injured in a dog attack. (Image: ITV) One legal expert has heralded ITV's hit rural drama for shining a light on the important and growing issue of canine attacks. Lara O'Donnell, head of personal injury at CEL Solicitors, said: 'Incidents with violent dogs are on the rise and as much as we're a nation of pet lovers, owners need to realise the responsibility they have when they own an animal. 'A dog owner's fleeting moment of negligence can lead to life-changing injuries, both physical and mental, for victims. 'It's crucial that owners take proactive steps to train their pets and ensure they are secure. If a dog has displayed signs of violent behaviour, ensure its kept on a lead in public and maybe even muzzled.' There were 30,539 offences of a dog injuring a person or guide dog in 2023, up from 25,291 in 2022, according to police data. 'Not all dog attacks are reported to the police, so the actual number of incidents could be higher,' Ms O'Donnnell added. 'Attacks should be reported as soon as possible, so steps are taken to ensure the owner of the dog takes responsibility for their pet. 'Owners need to ensure they have adequate pet insurance, that includes third party liability. 'This means if a dog did cause harm to another person, the owner can afford to compensate the victim.' After a dog attack, victims may seek compensation for their injuries, especially if they have to take time off work. Recommended Reading: Who plays Paddy Dingle? Emmerdale will air tonight on ITV1 at the later time of 7.30pm.

The Chase fans fume 'what is going on' as Jenny Ryan sparks 'fix' row
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase fans fumed "what is going on" as Jenny Ryan sparked a "fix" row on Monday (June 30). During yesterday's rerun episode, the Vixen faced off against an all-new team comprising Nick from Liverpool, Laura from Bolton, Aiden from Falkirk, and Vivienne from Bracknell. Following the preliminary rounds, only Laura and Nick advanced to the final chase, clutching onto a modest jackpot of £3,000 after narrowly avoiding capture by Jenny. With a challenging beginning, the duo accumulated a respectable 14-point lead before Jenny tackled the concluding questions. It was during these final moments when host Bradley Walsh asked: "What colour indicates semi-skimmed milk on bottles?" reports the Express. (Image: ITV) Jenny confidently declared: "Red and silver," which Bradley immediately acknowledged as correct. However, the show's viewers were quick to voice their frustration on social platforms, insisting that the answer was incorrect, while suggesting that the game had been fixed. "Excuse me? Semi-skimmed is GREEN! Incorrect answer from #TheVixen given as correct? They were one correct answer away from winning!" one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another added: "Semi-skimmed milk carton tops are Green (or white), NOT RED, which is skimmed milk... What is going on here?" A third said: "Am I going mad? I'm sure the question was about the colour of tops on semi-skimmed milk. The Chaser said red and silver... it's green. Or did I mishear?" (Image: ITV) Jenny's answer wasn't entirely incorrect - red and silver tops are indeed used for semi-skimmed milk in glass bottles, which are less common than the plastic containers found in supermarkets. In UK supermarkets, semi-skimmed milk is typically identified by a green top, with red for skimmed and blue for full-fat. Despite the technicality, fans continued to voice their disapproval. One disgruntled viewer pointed out: "What's the point of asking a question when there's a degree of ambiguity towards the correct answer? That question should never have been allowed - it cost them the game." (Image: ITV) The episode had already caused a stir earlier when two contestants chose lower offers, slashing the potential prize fund by £6,000. Former police officer Nick shocked everyone when he decided to go for a mere £2,000 after accumulating £7,000 in the cash builder and being tempted by a £30,000 offer from the Vixen. He confessed: "I'm going to shock you," before choosing the lower sum, leaving even Bradley taken aback as he responded: "Yeah, that is shocking." Ultimately, Nick and Laura reached the final chase with just £3,000 in hand and narrowly missed out on victory. In a tense showdown with Jenny, they were caught just seconds from the finish line. The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm

Emmerdale star returns to ITV show months after vanishing
Fans were left in the dark when cleaner Lydia Dingle, played by English actress Karen Blick, failed to appear for her own birthday party after leaving the village without any notice. The character was last seen in March and even then only appeared for a single episode after 'silently exiting' the show in February. Now, the character has made her long-awaited return, according to The Sun newspaper. A post shared by Emmerdale (@emmerdale) In the Emmerdale episode, which aired this week, the character made her return and explained her absence. Walking into the cafe, she runs into Joe Tate, who makes a joke to her about dusting before she shuts down the ITV character. After reuniting with her old friend Kim Tate, Lydia tells her confidant that she has been away caring for her mother, who has apparently fallen ill. Lydia told her: 'Well, she's back to bossing me about and giving me the running commentary on every last twinge.' She added that she would not be back permanently and that she would be leaving again soon to continue her caring duties. "I'll be to-ing and fro-ing a bit, but she's definitely on the mend,' she said. Karen Blick is an English actress from Leeds in West Yorkshire, according to Emmerdale's official fan wiki. She took on the role of Lydia Dingle all the way back in 2016, but initially appeared in Emmerdale in 2006 as an unnamed nurse. Born in 1974, she has starred in a number of programmes besides Emmerdale over her long career. She appeared in a 2004 TV show called No Angels as well as a programme called Nomads.
