‘I'll say Sinner, because Alcaraz likes girls': Spaniard responds to Nick Kyrgios' ‘funny' comments at Wimbledon
Speaking in a conversation hosted by Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) with French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, the 30-year-old Kyrgios shared his thoughts on the Sinner-Alcaraz comparison and who is likely to sustain greatness in the future.
'Who do you think's gonna have a better career, Alcaraz or Sinner? I'll tell you mine first. I'll say Sinner, because Alcaraz likes girls,' said Kyrgios. 'He might get distracted, he might party too much. That's my only thing, whereas Sinner will stay a bit locked in, I think.'
'Sinner is more consistent in general,' added Mouratoglou. 'It's more his mentality. If you look at the season, Alcaraz is losing many more matches than Sinner, so many more. And you think he should not, why? But because he's not always there. Even during the match, he has ups, downs. For that reason, yes.'
However, Moratogolou conceded the ultimate comparison will boil down to the head-to-head which Alcaraz leads Sinner 8-4 after his recent epic French Open final jailbreak from two sets and a championship point down in Paris.
Kyrgios made his comments shortly after Alcaraz's much-publicised vacation in Ibiza, celebrating his French Open win, and the release of his documentary, 'A mi Manera (My Way),' which emphasises his approach to becoming a champion, including extended breaks from the sport.
Nick Kyrgios says Jannik Sinner will have a better career than Carlos Alcaraz:

When asked at Wimbledon following his third-round, four-set victory over Jan-Lennard Struff on Friday, the 22-year-old Alcaraz shrugged off Kyrgios' comments.
'They're funny comments, which coming from him, don't surprise me. It's no secret that Jannik always has fewer ups and downs than me. It's something I've been working on. It has nothing to do with the nightlife world,' Alcaraz told the Spanish media at Wimbledon.
Dropping another set after five-set first round skirmish against Fabio Fognini, Alcaraz admitted that he had gone through a gruelling test against German Struff.
'His game is suited to the grass with his big serve, and he came in to the net as much as he can. I'm really pleased with everything I fought for but it was stressful. I was suffering in many service games – love 30, break points down. He was pushing me whenever he could. It was tough to survive. I was happy to get that break at the end,' Alcaraz said.
The two-time champion will return to Centre Court to face 14th seed Andrey Rublev in the R16 match on Sunday.

Pasta with Strawberries? Iga Swiatek Reveals Her Unusual Take On Wimbledon Snack
Last Updated: Swiatek shared her love for pasta with strawberries and yogurt, claiming Polish strawberries are better than British ones, sparking playful controversy. Iga Swiatek cruised past Danielle Collins in their third-round match on Centre Court Saturday, showing few signs of struggle on the grass. But it wasn't her dominant performance that stirred conversation — it was her post-match revelation about one of her favorite meals. Pasta with strawberries 🍓 @iga_swiatek 's favourite meal is an interesting one 😂 #Wimbledon — Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 5, 2025 A Wimbledon Classic — With a Twist Each year, the All England Club estimates that more than 35 tons of strawberries — typically served with cream — are consumed during the tournament. The beloved treat is such a symbol of Wimbledon that strawberry-themed merchandise can be found throughout the grounds. Swiatek, however, introduced an unexpected variation during her on-court interview: 'You should try it, guys — pasta, strawberries, a little bit of yogurt." Later, she doubled down by posting a photo on Instagram of a bowl containing exactly that. Iga Swiatek shares a photo of her favorite meal, pasta and Lord. 😭😭😭😭 — The Tennis Letter (@TheTennisLetter) July 5, 2025 The dish, known in Polish as makaron z truskawkami, literally translates to 'pasta with strawberries." It's a sweet summertime staple in Poland, typically made with noodles topped with blended or mashed strawberries, sugar, and a creamy ingredient like sour cream, heavy cream, or — in Swiatek's case — yogurt. 'Why is it such a big thing? Everybody should eat that," said Swiatek with a grin after her win over Collins. 'I think in summer, kids are eating it a lot. I don't know. It's just a perfect mix of tastes." Polish Strawberries > British Strawberries? Asked whether Poland or England has better strawberries, Swiatek didn't hesitate. 'Honestly, I think Poland," she said. 'Because we have better climate for strawberries, right?" Then, smiling again, she added: 'Now Wimbledon is probably going to ban me from answering these questions."

Helmed by Pharrell Williams, what really grabbed attention was the quirky autorickshaw handbag design, a playful blend of India's bustling street life and Louis Vuitton's iconic style. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Diet Paratha (@diet_paratha) The bag, crafted in Louis Vuitton's signature monogram canvas, featured functional-looking mini wheels and camel-hued leather handles. It was first shared online by the Instagram account 'Diet Paratha', which posted a video of the bag with the caption: 'Did this bag just colonise me? Jokingggggg… NRI's bout to go crazy for this one tho." Though not part of the main runway showcase, the bag quickly became a talking point, especially for its bold cultural crossover. Netizens React Reactions on social media ranged from amusement to cultural critique. One user quipped, 'Middle-class struggle is high-class couture," while another asked, 'Why is the West suddenly obsessed with Asia? Yesterday it was Prada's Kolhapuri chappals, today it's LV's autorickshaw bag." Others leaned into the humour. 'I forgot my rickshaw at home," joked a commenter. Another wondered, 'So are they going to price it by the meter?" Some users praised it as a bold statement piece, with one writing, 'This would be such a flex in my wardrobe." Louis Vuitton is no stranger to eccentric silhouettes — previous collections have featured bags shaped like aeroplanes, dolphins, and even lobsters. Yet the autorickshaw bag stood out for its unmistakable cultural reference, prompting discussion about whether it represented cultural appreciation or yet another example of fashion's appropriation of Eastern motifs.

Newcastle footballer Sean Longstaff plays cricket for Tynemouth CC, bowls express pace
Newcastle baller Sean Longstaff takes the maxim of cricket in summer, football in winter serious, and continued his tradition of spending holidays from the pitch for the striped Magpies and diverting it to bowling for his local cricket club, Tynemouth CC. In a game against Felling CC, Longstaff bowled a pacy delivery and claimed a LBW wicket. With Shubman Gill shading the likes of Carse & Tongue with a double ton and England generally in very poor shape, fans at Tynemouth urged the footballer, quipping he try out for Lord's. 'Wheels' they called his runup. Fans on Twitter informed that Longstaff has long spent his summers playing cricket for the Club before his tearaway pace was highlighted on social media when he bowled at Felling in the North East Premier League. Newcastle player Sean Longstaff taking a wicket for Tynemouth CC yesterday ☝️ — England's Barmy Army 🏴🎺 (@TheBarmyArmy) July 6, 2025 The Newcastle midfielder, 27, is an academy product and is seeking clarity on his future with reporting that three clubs Everton, Leeds Utd and overseas are interested in his services. Longstaff hasn't started a football game since December, and was passed over for Lewis Miley. In May, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe told BBC Radio Newcastle, 'I don't have to motivate him. He should motivate himself – he is here representing the club he loves. He has to be ready to take his chance when it comes. Any train of thought that I have to – I can't do that for all 25 players. But Sean is motivated. He has been brilliant behind the scenes, he is training well and he's got undoubted qualities. He also has a contract for next year. The control is very much in his hands as to what he wants to do for his long-term future. And we are certainly delighted to have him.' Meanwhile he has continued immersing in cricket. Ian Botham played football for Scunthorpe and cricket, a tad more famously amongst many others. Like footballers who hunker down for some light weight cricket, rugby players take to cricket in France too. The Bordeaux Giscours cricket club tends to have plenty of South African rugby players, turning out for their summer side playing at Labarde and have often won the Aquitaine Division. French cricket teams are typically based around vineyards.
