Prep underway for National Urban Local Bodies Conference to be held at Manesar
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar has issued clear directions to all department heads, instructing them not to leave the district headquarters during the conference period. 'It is crucial that officials remain available to facilitate prompt decision-making and address any situation that may arise,' he said. He also urged all departments to work in close coordination and fulfil their responsibilities with a spirit of shared accountability.
To facilitate communication and coordination with the visiting delegates, liaison officers have been appointed by the district administration. These officers were briefed at the venue on Monday regarding the programme schedule, requirements of the delegates, emergency protocols, and their specific duties. DC Ajay Kumar emphasised that the liaison officers must discharge their duties with utmost sincerity to ensure the guests face no inconvenience.
Work on beautifying the venue and surrounding roads is progressing at a rapid pace. Welcome gates, directional signage, and decorative elements reflecting the theme of the National Conference are being installed at key intersections, entry points, and within the venue premises. The final touches are being given to colourful dividers along the major routes. Separate entry and exit routes have been designated to avoid traffic congestion during the event.
The Police Department has devised an elaborate plan to deploy additional security personnel around the conference venue and adjacent areas. Traffic diversions and alternative parking arrangements are being implemented to maintain smooth vehicular movement. Fire safety teams, medical units from the Health Department, and ambulances will be stationed at the venue as part of emergency preparedness.
The deputy commissioner said, 'The district administration is committed to ensuring that the event reflects the hospitality and administrative efficiency of Haryana. All departments have been instructed to prioritise the preparations and complete them well within the stipulated timeline.'

Give priority to sanitation to safeguard public health, Sedam officials told
Deputy Commissioner B. Fouzia Taranum has emphasised the need for maintaining cleanliness and preparing for potential flooding during her inspection tour of Sedam taluk recently. Chairing a progress review meeting at the tahsildar's office in Sedam town, she said that as the town continues to grow, sanitation must be prioritised to safeguard public health. Instructing Town Municipal Council Chief Officer Sharannayya Swamy to ensure effective garbage collection and to discourage open littering, she also directed the Police Department to take appropriate steps to improve traffic management within the town. She reviewed the ongoing civil works under the Public Works and Panchayat Raj Engineering Departments and stressed the importance of completing the projects on time without compromising on quality. In view of possible floods, she asked officials to stay prepared and ensure clean drinking water supply to avoid any health issues. She also instructed the Health Department to take proactive steps to prevent outbreaks of water-borne diseases. During her visit to the Sedam Taluk Record Room, she reviewed the progress of the Bhoo Suraksha scheme and directed officials to begin offering digital access to land records for public convenience in the coming days. Earlier, her visit began with an inspection of the installation of streetlights by KRDCL across the Malkhed-Kagina river bridge. She then visited the Village Administrative Office and the Arivu Kendra in Neelahalli village. At Bibballi village, she inspected the renovation work at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya being carried out by the Panchayat Raj Engineering Division. Later, she interacted with students at the model school in the same village as part of the 'Spurthi Kiran' programme, sharing motivational tips and encouraging them to start early preparation for competitive exams like KPSC and UPSC. She took selfies with the children, much to their delight. Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Channappa Rayanna and DDPI Suryakant Madane accompanied her. She also visited the Satapanahalli Jackwell that supplies drinking water to Sedam town and reviewed the ongoing works. In Shastri Nagar, she inspected the CC road work. At the park in Gandhi Nagar, she observed a tree-planting drive by members of women's self-help groups. She instructed municipal and Forest Department officials to develop a model park in the town. As part of the visit, Ms. Taranum inspected the recently inaugurated Indira canteen in Sedam town and tasted food. She appreciated the quality of the meals served and directed staff to ensure cleanliness in the kitchen and surrounding premises. Accompanying the Deputy Commissioner on the visit were Assistant Commissioner Prabhureddy, Urban Development Cell Project Director Munavar Daula, Tahsildar Shreyanka Dhanashree and other senior officials of the taluk.

DP 2034 to be modified in order to facilitate land acquisition for coastal road
MUMBAI: After a diktat by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Development Plan (DP) department of the BMC on Saturday issued a notice to modify the DP 2034 to make a provision for a coastal road from Versova to Dahisar. The stretches from Versova to Dahisar and Dahisar to Bhayandar are being carried out by the BMC. Since the government wants the BMC to start the work in August 2025, it asked for immediate changes to the DP. 'The CM told us to issue the notice immediately,' said a senior officer of the DP department. Once the reservation is changed, acquisition will become easier, said officers. Accordingly, some plots in Pahadi village, Goregaon, and others in Borivali, Eksar and Dahisar will be now reserved for the coastal road. The project will require 164 hectares of land—of this 61.5% is BMC land, 10% belongs to the state government while the rest is private land. Fadnavis has asked the collectors of Mumbai Suburban and Thane district to give advance possession of the government land required for the project so that construction can start. One MHADA layout at Aram Nagar and one building of the Central Institute of Fisheries Education, both in Andheri, will have to be acquired for this. The BMC will have to kill a large number of mangroves, and the compensatory afforestation will be done in Chandrapur district. The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority has already given clearance to the project, but the Forest Right Committee of the Mumbai suburban district is yet to do so. This committee, formed to protect the rights of forest dwellers under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 , plays a role in cases where forest land is proposed for diversion for non-forest purposes. The work between Versova and Dahisar will be done in six phases while the Dahisar-Bhayandar road construction will be a separate one. The alignment of the road is still to be finalised on the DP. The chief minister has ordered work on the coastal road to begin by August 2025 and mandated that the Versova-Dahisar stretch be completed by December 2028. The entire project will cost ₹ 22,000 crore.
