Comedian Paul Rodriguez arrested, accused of narcotics possession in Burbank
Burbank Police Sgt. Stephen Turner said Rodriguez, 70, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for 'code violations' at around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Victory Boulevard and Lamer Street.
'During the investigation, narcotics were located,' Turner said in a statement.
Rodriguez was booked at the Burbank jail for possession of narcotics and released with a citation to appear in court next month, Turner said.
Rodriguez is telling a different version of the story.
He told TMZ that he was sleeping in the passenger seat when a 'Caucasian' officer on a 'power trip' slapped him to wake him up. Rodriguez told the outlet that the drugs belonged to the driver of the vehicle.
Bobby Samini, his attorney, called the charges against Rodriguez false, and said his arrest and treatment by police were a 'violation of his civil rights.'
'He fully cooperated with law enforcement at all times,' Samini said in a statement. 'Law enforcement asserted that the driver of the vehicle was in possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Rodriguez did not have any controlled substance in his possession, nor was he under the influence of any controlled substance.'
Rodriguez, the son of a migrant farm worker, was born in Mexico before moving to East Los Angeles in his youth. His career in stand-up began in L.A. comedy clubs in the late 1970s.
Rodriguez's work includes writing and acting in dozens of films, including his own stand-up comedy specials. He also hosted television shows on Univision and MTV. He is known for his roles in such movies as 'Blood Work,' 'Rat Race,' 'The World's Fastest Indian' and 'Tortilla Soup.'

Brooke Hogan asked out of Hulk Hogan's will before his death
Brooke Hogan is avoiding any potential issues surrounding Hulk Hogan's large estate. The daughter of the wrestling legend removed herself from Hogan's will in 2023 to avoid a financial battle following his death because she didn't trust the people around Hogan, TMZ reported on Tuesday. Brooke's biggest concern at the time was trying to protect her dad from those she felt were attempting to take advantage of him; however, the two disagreed over the subject and she eventually reached out to Hogan's financial manager to have herself taken out of the will, according to the report. Robert Bell/INSTARimages Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died at the age of 71 last week after a cardiac arrest in Clearwater, Florida. Brooke, 37, will still receive some money from a life insurance policy that she was a beneficiary on and that she will put toward her kids' college funds. The eldest of Hogan's two children opened up for the first time about her father's passing and her estrangement from him in an Instagram post on Tuesday. Advertisement 'My dad's blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children. And our blood has never broken, not even in his final moments,' Brooke wrote. 'We never had a 'big fight.' My father and I never 'fought.' It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support.' Advertisement Brooke later detailed how she and her husband, Steven Olesky, moved to Florida in order to be closer to her father as he got older and she had been there with him for nearly 25 surgeries before he 'all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries.' Brooke was not in attendance for Hogan's September 2023 wedding to his third wife, Sky Daily, and the two had their last conversation two weeks before the wedding, TMZ reported. 3 Hulk Hogan with daugther Brooke in 2006. Why original ‘Naked Gun' director says he won't watch reboot
(NEXSTAR) — This weekend, the wacky world of Lt. Frank Drebin and his 'Police Squad,' returns to theaters for the first time in 31 years. Directed by Akiva Schaffer ('Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping'), 'The Naked Gun' (2025) reboots the series with Oscar nominee Liam Neeson as its new star, playing Drebin's (the late Leslie Nielsen's) son. While early reactions to 'The Naked Gun' have been positive, there's one person who won't be reviewing the film anytime soon: David Zucker, who directed the franchise's first two movies and who wrote/produced the third. 8 classic '80s sitcoms and where to stream them Zucker (who's also known for directing 'Airplane!' and 'Scary Movie' franchise films) told TMZ back in April that he'd watched the trailer for the new film and was disappointed — both because he didn't like it and because he hadn't been consulted for the reboot. 'I never saw 'Airplane 2' because you can't unsee that stuff. I'm not planning on seeing the 'Naked Gun' remake either,' Zucker told TMZ. 'I regret having seen the trailer for it.' Zucker, 77, also negatively compared the trailer for the new film to seeing a notorious 2007 viral pornographic video starring two girls and a beverage container. 'I can't unsee it,' Zucker elaborated. According to Zucker, he and his team submitted a script to Paramount in 2018 that he says they were told the studio liked. Zucker says he was later shocked that the property had been greenlit for a different creative team. Once the film was in production, Zucker said he was offered a producer credit on the film but rejected it based on the script. Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad controversy explained 'I read the script and I politely told them I wasn't going to put my name on it,' Zucker told the Hollywood Reporter. 'They wanted nothing from me except my name. They assume I'm old and using a walker and I can't do it anymore. I guess talent leaves after age 40 in Hollywood.' Zucker also told THR in a different interview in May that he had doubts about the casting of Neeson, saying, 'Everybody thinks that they can do it, do spoof. It's really, really specific.' Production drama aside, 'The Naked Gun' has plenty of anticipation behind it. In addition to Neeson, pop culture icon Pamela Anderson also joins as the film's female lead. Anderson, 58, received rave reviews last year for her return to the big screen in Gia Coppola's 'The Last Showgirl.' 'The Naked Gun' opens nationwide August 1. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
