Turnage Commits to Georgia Tech
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women's basketball head coach Karen Blair announced on Wednesday Brianna Turnage has signed a grant-in-aid to join the Yellow Jackets for her final year of eligibility. Turnage brings three seasons of experience competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference to The Flats.An Atlanta, Ga., native, Turnage played her first three seasons at Florida State, appearing in 90 games and earning the start in 30. The 6-1 guard helped the Seminoles to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2023, 2024, 2025), while finishing in the top six of the ACC standings all three years. Each season Turnage was a Seminole, Florida State posted 20-plus wins and at least 12 ACC victories.'We are so thrilled to welcome Brianna back home to Atlanta,' said Blair. 'She is a winner and knows what it takes to compete at the highest level having already participated in three NCAA Tournaments. Our staff loves the versatility that she brings on the court.'Turnage played in all 33 games last season for the Seminoles, averaging 13.9 minutes per game and finishing fourth with 12 blocks. She pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds against Jacksonville, while just missing double-figure scoring totals several times. Against Drexel, Turnage went 3-for-3 from three-point distance to finish with nine points.During her sophomore campaign, Turnage tallied 11 points against Alabama State, going 4-for-4 from the field, and secured seven rebounds. The Georgia native recorded a pair of double-figure rebounding outings, securing 10 rebounds against Clemson and Syracuse. She just missed a double-double against Boston College with nine rebounds and a career-high six assists. Her freshman season saw Turnage take the floor in 23 outings and recording a double-double against Presbyterian behind 14 points and 10 rebounds.

As a defensive back, Downs totaled two interceptions, six passes defended, eight tackles for loss and 82 combined tackles, while also returning six punts and running back one of them for a touchdown. Downs earned All-American honors in a season that saw the Buckeyes win the National Championship. T-6. Clemson DE T.J. Parker (+2500) After a solid freshman campaign, Parker was a force to be reckoned with for the Tigers in his sophomore season in 2024. In the latter year, Parker totaled 11.0 sacks, an ACC-high six forced fumbles, 20 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and 57 combined tackles on a Clemson team that won the ACC and reached the College Football Playoff. Parker will be an early favorite to win 2025 ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors. T-6. Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt (+2500) Leavitt transferred from Michigan State to Arizona State for the 2024 season in what turned out to be a fun ride for the program. In what was his first full year as a starting quarterback at the collegiate level, Leavitt flashed dual-threat ability. In the air, he totaled 2,885 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, six interceptions and a 150.2 passer rating, while completing 61.7% of his passes. On the ground, Leavitt rushed for 443 yards and five touchdowns. Leavitt and the Sun Devils finished 11-3, won the Big 12 and reached the College Football Playoff before a heartbreaking overtime loss to Texas in the quarterfinal round. 5. Clemson QB Cade Klubnik (+1200) The 2025 season will be Klubnik's third under center for the Tigers, and he's coming off an encouraging 2024 campaign. In said season, Klubnik totaled 3,639 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns, six interceptions and a 148.2 passer rating, while completing 63.4% of his passes. He also rushed for 463 yards and seven touchdowns. Klubnik led Clemson to an ACC title and subsequently a berth in the College Football Playoff. 4. South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers (+800) Sellers was South Carolina's starting quarterback for all but one game in 2024 in what was a season that saw the freshman turn heads. As a passer, Sellers totaled 2,534 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 151.9 passer rating, while completing 65.6% of his passes. He also rushed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound signal-caller flashed a capable arm, while imposing his will on the ground in a season that saw the Gamecocks go 9-4. 3. LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier (+425) After sitting on the bench for the better part of three seasons, Nussmeier became LSU's starting quarterback in 2024 and more than held his own. Nussmeier totaled 4,052 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 142.7 passer rating, while completing 64.2% of his passes in a 9-4 season for the Tigers. As with any season at LSU, Nussmeier and the Tigers have high expectations for the 2025 season, which will be their fourth season under head coach Brian Kelly. LSU will go as far as the gun-slinging Nussmeier, who led the SEC with 525 pass attempts last season, takes them. 2. Penn State QB Drew Allar (+275) After a 2023 season that saw Allar throw for a Big Ten-high 25 touchdowns, he put together an even more convincing 2024 campaign, which saw the quarterback throw with conviction and lead the Nittany Lions to the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff. Allar totaled 3,327 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 153.5 passer rating, while completing 66.5% of his passes. He also rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns. 1. Texas QB Arch Manning (+225) Yes, there's another, and this one is named after the grandfather. Manning will be the Longhorns' quarterback next season after backing up Quinn Ewers in 2024 and appearing in just two games in 2023. UConn announces date, location for matchup with Lady Vols basketball in Connecticut
A date has been set for Lady Vols basketball's road matchup with UConn, its longtime rival and the reigning national champion. Tennessee will travel to face the Huskies on Feb. 1, 2026 at PeoplesBank Arena, which was formerly known as the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The last time the Lady Vols played at UConn, they played in the same arena. The road matchup is the second of a two-game home-and-home series with UConn. Tennessee beat the Huskies 80-76 last season in Knoxville, notching its first win over UConn since 2007 in Lady Vols coach Kim Caldwell's first season. That would be the Huskies last loss of the season, though, going on to win the program's 12th NCAA title. UConn lost three players to graduation. That included star guard Paige Bueckers, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. UConn also lost Aubrey Griffin and Kaitlyn Chen, who is also playing in the WNBA. The Huskies return senior star Azzi Fudd, who won Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, and freshman phenom Sarah Strong. They also brought in Wisconsin transfer forward Serah Williams, who was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal this offseason. UConn leads the series 17-10, winning the first four matchups after the historic rivalry was renewed ahead of the 2019-20 season. The teams did not face off during the 2023-24 season due to scheduling conflicts. Before the series was renewed, the two teams hadn't played since 2007. Tennessee won the final three matchups of the series before legendary Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt canceled it. LADY VOLS: Tennessee women's basketball's 2025-26 roster is set. What to know about Kim Caldwell's Lady Vols The matchup with UConn is the sixth nonconference game on the schedule for the 2025-26 season. The Lady Vols will open the season against NC State on Nov. 4 in Greensboro, North Carolina and travel to Murfreesboro on Nov. 20 to play MTSU. Tennessee also has a trip to the West Coast with a game at UCLA on Nov. 30 and a game at Stanford on Dec. 3 in the ACC/SEC Challenge. UT will then return to the Women's Champions Classic in Brooklyn, New York, where it will face Louisville on Dec. 20. Clemson football kicker Nolan Hauser named to watch list for 2025 Lou Groza Award
Clemson Tigers kicker Nolan Hauser was one of 30 players named to the 2025 Lou Groza Award Watch List, the Palm Beach (Fla.) County Sports Commission announced Friday. The award is presented annually to the top place-kicker in college football. Hauser, who connected on 75 percent (18-for-24) of his field goals as a true freshman in 2024, nailed a season-long 56-yard game-winning field goal as time expired to lift the Tigers to a 34-31 win over SMU in the ACC Championship Game on Dec. 7. Hauser's kick sent Clemson to the College Football Playoff and was an ACC title game record. He also made a 51-yard field goal just before halftime in the Tigers' 24-20 win at Pitt three weeks earlier on Nov. 16. A native of Cornelius, North Carolina, Hauser made 59 of 60 extra point attempts. He committed to Clemson in November 2022 over offers from ACC rivals North Carolina and NC State. Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns kicker Kenneth Almendares won the Groza Award in 2024.
