Uttarakhand CM Dhami presents 'House of Himalayas' products to Union Minister JP Nadda
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister stated that the 'House of Himalayas' is a collection of pure and quality local products of Devbhoomi, the tireless hard work of women's power.
'By presenting products of House of Himalayas to the Honorable National President and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Honorable Shri @JPNadda ji, he was informed about the unprecedented work being done by our women power and local people in the field of self-employment,' CM Dhami wrote on social media platform X.
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda on his arrival at the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun.
Sharing the update on social media platform X, the Chief Minister wrote, 'Welcomed and greeted the Honourable National President of BJP and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Honorable @JPNaddaji at Jolly Grant Airport on his arrival to Uttarakhand, a symbol of valour and courage, imbued with religion, spirituality and natural beauty.'
Meanwhile, on May 17, CM Dhami launched the 'e-Rupi' system, a technology-based initiative aimed at modernising agricultural support in the state.
During the launch, the Chief Minister also introduced four ambitious agricultural policies (Kiwi Policy, Dragon Fruit, Apple Post-Harvest Harvesting Scheme and Millet Mission) to give a new direction to the agricultural system of the state. He said that the government will soon prepare a Flower and Honey Policy in the state.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that the e-Rupi system is a new initiative for the food producers of the state.
The e-Rupi system will become a new medium of transparent, fast and middleman-free digital payment for farmers. Under this system, the subsidy amount received by the farmers in the pilot projects will be sent directly to their mobile through e-voucher (SMS or QR code), which they will be able to use to buy fertilisers, seeds, medicines, etc. from authorised centres or vendors.
For the successful implementation of the e-Rupi system, the Chief Minister directed the officials to organise training programmes in every village and make the farmers aware so that they can properly take advantage of this technology.
The objective of all these initiatives is to strengthen agriculture and employment in the hilly and plain areas of the state so that problems like migration can also be effectively controlled.
These schemes will prove to be a milestone in making Uttarakhand a self-reliant, strong and leading agricultural state. 'All these schemes will promote agricultural diversity of the state and will become the basis for increasing the income of farmers,' CM Dhami said on the launch of four agricultural schemes. (ANI)

The Union government has clarified that it has 'no current plan or intention' to reconsider or remove the words 'socialism' and 'secularism' from the Preamble of the Constitution Responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that while discussions or debates may be taking place in certain public or political circles, the government has neither announced any formal proposal nor initiated any legal or constitutional process to alter the Preamble. 'The government's official stand is that there is no current plan or intention to reconsider or remove the words 'socialism' and 'secularism' from the Preamble of the Constitution,' Meghwal said in a written reply. Meghwal said that any amendment to the Preamble would require extensive deliberation and broad consensus, which, at present, is not under consideration. The Law Minister also noted that in November 2024, the Supreme Court dismissed petitions challenging the 1976 amendment that added the two words. The court upheld Parliament's power to amend the Constitution, including the Preamble, and clarified that in the Indian context, 'socialism' refers to a welfare state and does not hinder private enterprise, while 'secularism' is an essential part of the Constitution's basic structure. Meghwal said while certain groups may be advocating a review of the added terms, such opinions do not reflect the government's official position. 'Such activities may generate public discourse, but they do not indicate any official action or policy direction,' he said. Last month, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar stirred controversy when he described the inclusion of the words 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble as a 'festering wound.' His remarks lent weight to RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's call for a national debate on whether these terms should continue to define India's foundational values. Dhankhar had asserted that the Preamble is 'sacrosanct and not changeable,' calling the insertion of the words during the Emergency 'a sacrilege to the spirit of Sanatan.' (With inputs from PTI )

Himachal BJP leaders meet Shah, discuss state's condition following rain-related disasters
A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Himachal Pradesh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah under the leadership of BJP national president and Union Minister for Health, Jagat Prakash Nadda, to discuss the issue of disaster management in the state on Thursday. The delegation included Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, State BJP chief Dr Rajeev Bindal, former Union minister and MP Anurag Thakur, Lok Sabha MP Suresh Kashyap, Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, actor-cum-MP Kangana Ranaut, Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami, Dr Sikander Kumar, Harsh Mahajan, MLAs Vinod Kumar, Hans Raj, and Deep Raj. During the meeting, Nadda and the BJP leaders briefed Shah on the disaster situation in Himachal Pradesh and urged him to visit the disaster-affected areas. They also requested greater support for the rehabilitation of affected people and the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure. They expressed their gratitude on behalf of the people of Himachal Pradesh to the Union Home Minister, who extended full cooperation during the disaster relief and rescue operations. The NDRF, ITBP, Army, and Air Force helicopters were made available immediately. At their request, Shah dispatched an inter-ministerial central team within 20 days to assess the damage caused by the disaster. Responding to their demand for a study on the causes of the disaster, a high-level expert team was also constituted. Nadda said that under the chairmanship of the Union Home Minister, a high-level committee had already approved a funding package of Rs 2,006.40 crore for Himachal Pradesh for rehabilitation and reconstruction in areas affected by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts in 2023. The first instalment of Rs 451.44 crore was released on July 7. The Centre also provided all logistical support, including the deployment of national disaster response teams, army units, and air force personnel, to Himachal and other states as required. A total of 13 NDRF teams are currently deployed for rescue and relief work in Himachal. Nadda further said that at the BJP's request, Shah had directed the formation of a multi-disciplinary central team in view of the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters in Himachal. Ranaut, in a post on X, also mentioned the neet, saying that the central government stands firmly with Himachal Pradesh in this hour of crisis. 'Expressing deep condolences, the minister (Shah) assured that all affected families will be provided with every possible assistance and prompt rehabilitation. According to the news agency PTI, since the onset of the monsoon in Himachal Pradesh on June 22, at least 76 people have died and 34 have gone missing in rain-related incidents across the state. The state has also experienced 40 flash floods, 23 cloudbursts and 25 landslides this monsoon season, resulting in losses of approximately Rs 1,247 crore, the State Emergency Operation Centre said.

D.K. Shivakumar asserts that Karnataka will go ahead with Mahadayi project
Taking serious exception to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his statement that the Union Environment Ministry would not give permission for Karnataka's Mahadayi project, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has asserted that the State would start work on the project. The Deputy Chief Minister also reiterated that the State would try to take an all-party leaders' delegation to Delhi to convince the Centre about the need to provide all clearances for the proposed project. He said he would also meet all the MPs from Karnataka to seek their support. 'We will withdraw our application in this regard from the Supreme Court and start the work on the project,' said Mr. Shivakumar, who also holds the Water Resources portfolio. 'The tribunal concerned has given its verdict on Mahadayi and we have already called for tender. BJP leaders, including Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, had even celebrated saying that the Mahadayi project would take off soon post the promise of approval by the Centre,' he said. He said it was wrong on the part of the State MPs not to raise their voice on this issue. 'I urge the MPs from the State to put pressure on the Centre. I will try to take an all-party delegation to Delhi,' he said. Asked if the Union Minister was 'misleading' the State on Mahadayi, he said: 'The Union Jal Shakti Minister is impartial on the matter and he won't politicise this. I have already met him four-five times. The Union Environment Minister will also not indulge in politics on this issue. Both of them support development works. The issue is with Goa.' Replying to a query on Rahul Gandhi's allegation of vote stealing during Lok Sabha election, he said: 'I agree with his statement. I have also started my own investigation regarding this in Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituency. Many irregularities have taken place here too.'
