A teenager has died and another boy was seriously hurt after a car crash in Sheffield.
The 16-year-old boy was walking along Staniford Road, Sheffield, when he was struck by the car yesterday afternoon.
He was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The boy's family has been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.
Before smashing into him, the grey Audi hit an 18-year-old man, who was riding an electric bike on the road.
The cyclist remains in the hospital for treatment.
Footage shows the moment before the car and the e-bike rider smash near the kerb, with both appearing to travel on the wrong direction.
After hitting the cyclist, the car then zooms towards the unsuspecting boy on the pavement.
Shortly after, the car is spotted driving away with its front damaged.
The emergency services rushed to the scene at about 4.50pm after reports of the crash.
The Audi didn't stop at the scene, it is understood.
Detectives are investigating the collision, and two people were arrested last night.
A man and a woman, both in their 40s, were taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detectives asked people not share footage of the crash on social media as it could be distressing for the boy's family.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said: 'We know that this incident will have caused significant concern in the local community, and tonight our thoughts are with the boys loved ones following this tragic incident.
'Our investigation into what happened is continuing at pace and we currently have a scene in place on Staniforth Road as we continue to piece together the circumstances.
'We are aware of speculation being shared online, as well as footage of the incident, and we ask members of the public to withhold from speculating or sharing footage which may cause distress to the boy's family.
'If you have any footage, imagery or information that may assist our investigation then please share this with us – it may form an important part of our investigation.' More Trending
People reacted to the news of the fatal crash on social media.
One person paid their respects to 'the young boy's family,' saying he used to live in the area and 'this has always been a bad road.'
Another one said: 'Incredibly sad. Condolences to the family of the young boy who needlessly lost his life. To the young man injured, I hope he makes a full recovery.'

Legendary ITV police drama star 'helps police arrest real-life criminal'

An actor who spent nearly 25 years playing a police officer on The Bill has helped combat a real-life criminal. From 1984 to 2008 Jeff Stewart took on the role of PC Reg Hollis on the ITV drama series. The police procedural focused on the lives and work of one shift of police officers of all ranks, with the storylines following situations faced by uniformed officers working on the beat, as well as plainclothes detectives. Joining the series the year it began, Jeff first appeared in the premiere episode Funny Ol' Business – Cops & Robbers. By 2007 he was the last member of the cast remaining from that first episode. His character was written off the following year, with The Bill then ending in 2010. Now, it appears the 69-year-old actor took a leaf out of his character's playbook after stepping in to stop a crime. Earlier this week Southampton resident Mohamed Diallo, 29, appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court, where details of the incident were revealed. The court was that after Diallo shoplifted and attempted to escape on a bicycle, Jeff jumped into action by sitting on the suspect's legs after he fell from the bike, while officers handcuffed him. 'In policing you should always expect the unexpected, but this really wasn't on The Bill for this week,' a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said. 'Officers making an arrest in Southampton were aided by none other than TV's Pc Reg Hollis during an incident on Wednesday 23 July. 'The officers, from Bargate Neighbourhoods Policing Team, were in the city in the afternoon when they were alerted by staff at Co-op in Ocean Way to a suspected shoplifter, who attempted to make good his escape on a bicycle.' 'To their surprise, local TV legend Jeff Stewart, who played Pc Hollis for 24 years in The Bill, came to their aid by sitting on the suspect's legs while officers put him in cuffs. 'Long since retired from Sun Hill station – but he's still got it.' In video of the arrest released by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, officers thanked Jeff before asking for a group photo. He replied: 'No, sure, man. Well, I was in The Bill for 24 years, in the TV show. Yeah, I played Reg.' Diallo was charged with five counts of theft, to which he pleaded guilty. Diallo was convicted of the theft of £17.25 worth of coffee from a Co-op on July 23, theft of £69.90 worth of coffee and food items on July 17, and £54.50 of alcohol and coffee from the same shop on July 14. More Trending He also admitted stealing £80 of wine from a Sainsburys on July 14 and £63 worth of alcohol from another on April 22. He was released on bail and will be sentenced on August 29. Line of Duty star's drama that will 'seize your soul' launches on BBC

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Today marks the day that Jimmy McGovern's highly anticipated latest TV project lands on BBC iPlayer. The new one-part drama, Unforgivable, stars Anna Maxwell Martin as Katherine, an ex-nun and therapist who works at an institution called St Maura's. Anna was introduced as DCS Patricia Carmichael in BBC One's crime drama Line of Duty back in 2019, a character known for her passive aggressive and unpleasant demeanour. In Unforgivable, Katherine works alongside lead character Joe (Bobby Schofield) as he finishes his two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a family member. Brookside star Anna Friel plays Joe's sister, Anna, who is tackling the aftermath of her family's trauma whilst protecting her two sons. Anna's contact with her inmate brother infuriates her father Brian (David Threlfall), who can't stand the fact that she is in contact with her brother, Joe. The Liverpool-set series also features Adolescence child actor Austin Haynes alongside Phina Oruche, Mark Womack and Fin McPartland in his TV debut. As well as being a best-selling author, screenwriter Jimmy has worked on many shows over the years that tackle social issues and injustice. Over the years, he's worked on Channel 4's Brookside, the docudrama Hillsborough and most recently the Bafta award-winning series Time, starring Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. Speaking to the BBC about his previous work on screen, McGovern said: 'It's got to seize my soul and if it doesn't do that then I won't be able to sit at the computer to write.' A description of Unforgivable reads: 'The Mitchell family deal with the devastating aftermath of an act of sexual abuse committed by a member of their own family who, after two years, is about to leave prison.' When the cast for the series was first confirmed, Jimmy told Radio Times: 'I can't believe the cast and crew that have been assembled for this production. It's a challenging film, yes, but I can't wait for it to be shown.' The release of Unforgivable comes shortly after Netflix added all four episodes of a 'gripping' spy thriller starring another Line of Duty star. Set in 1886, the drama The Secret Agent follows a man called Verloc (Toby Jones), who owns a sex shop in Victorian-era Soho. More Trending On the side, he's an informer for the Russian embassy tasked with spying on revolutionary groups, with Line of Duty icon Vicky McClurer playing his wife, Winnie. To round out the top of the call sheet, Stephen Graham joins them as the police Chief Inspector Heat. Unforgivable is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and airs tonight at 9pm on BBC Two. 'Gangster gran' banned from Asda for 'yellow sticker scam' vows to clear name

A 'gangster granny' accused of being the mastermind of an elaborate supermarket discount scam is fighting back against the allegations of Gran Theft Auto. Jan Rhodes, 67, was barred from her local Asda on Hall Road, in Norwich after allegedly operating a yellow sticker scam. The supermarket claims to have caught her red-handed swapping reduced stickers on products in the store. They handed a three-year ban to Jan, who has shopped at the superstore since 2015. She is now clapping back, claiming Asda have 'got the wrong gran'. Jan told the Eastern Daily Press: 'I went in to buy three things and while I was there, the security came up to me and said I wasn't allowed in anymore. I've never done that [switch stickers]. 'I'm angry and I'm upset. I used to go in there all the time. I know loads of them in there. I just want to prove them wrong.' The scheme she is accused of involves swapping reduced labels on products to net cheap deals, all before fleeing on her mobility scooter. The beef revolves in part around a pack of bacon. Jan is alleged to have bought the meat the day before she was banned as part of her yellow sticker trick. But her husband Rob says she bought the pack on the same day it was expiring. He went back to the store to try and show the expiration date in an effort to clear her name. The gran's stepdaughter, Leanne Hutchings, has rushed to the store to plead her stepmother's case. More Trending Leanne said: 'They say she's been doing it for a prolonged period of time. 'I explained saying that this is a case of mistaken identity. They also said she's been abusive. She would never be nasty to someone.' A spokesman for Asda said: 'We ask all customers to treat our colleagues and stores with respect and do not tolerate any form of abuse. 'While banning a customer is always a last resort, this decision was taken due to repeated disruptive and abusive behaviour.'
