Brendan Fevola marched off field after local footy incident
The Carlton cult hero was shown a yellow card and was sent off the field for 10 minutes for his role in a melee during South Whyalla's derby against Central Whyalla at Memorial Oval.
The match was streamed live by the SA Regional Footy page on Facebook and the cameras captured the moment Fevola was involved in a scuffle in the final quarter of the Roosters' 6.10 (46) to 6.8 (44) win over the Demons.

The stream showed Fevola, playing for South Whyalla, turned and shoved a Central Whyalla player after he had been jabbed in the back as he stood on the mark following a grab taken near the goal square.
Spectator vision obtained by The Advertiser, then shows the moment the former Coleman Medallist appeared to wrestle two opposition players before tensions boiled over.
The publication reports Fevola and one opposition player began throwing punches at each other after a third Central Whyalla player ran into the scuffle and pushed the 44-year-old in the back.

Vision shows the Fevola was dragged to the ground by a Central Whyalla player before the melee was broken up and play continued.
Fevola was then shown a yellow card by the umpire and took a seat on the bench late in the game.
The former Brisbane Lions forward was in good spirits after the game and was seen with fans during a promotional night for the football club.
Fevola was not reported by the umpires for the incident.
He has made a habit of causing drama at local footy matches this year.
Fevola teamed up with Guy Sebastian to make a one-off appearance for VAFA Division 5 Thirds team the Masala Dandenong Football Club in May.
Sebastian ended up limping from the field in the fourth quarter with a serious knee injury.

Voss insists 'life' left in Carlton's tough season
Under-fire Carlton coach Michael Voss is refusing to give up on the Blues' AFL season ahead of a grudge match with high-flying rivals Collingwood. Pressure intensified on Voss after Carlton's 50-point capitulation to Port Adelaide last Thursday night, leaving the Blues three games and percentage outside of the top eight. Hours after the dismal defeat, disgruntled fans defaced Carlton's headquarters calling for the board, and key figures Brad Lloyd and Nick Austin to be sacked, but also to "keep Voss". On Monday, Blues president Rob Priestley insisted Voss would coach out the season, but stopped short of guaranteeing his future beyond September. Carlton (6-9) will start as huge underdogs against the ladder-leading Magpies at the MCG on Friday night, especially as they will be missing important defenders Jack Silvagni (groin) and Adam Saad (concussion). All-Australian fullback Jacob Weitering is managing an ankle injury suffered in the shock loss against North Melbourne two weeks ago. But in response to a question asking if Weitering, who was visibly troubled by the issue against the Power, would be rested, Voss was emphatic. "A lot of players are carrying some sort of thing at this time of the year," Voss said on Thursday to a packed media contingent at Ikon Park. "It's to be stated that for us, this season's live. "There's a lot to get out of this year. "There's nothing parked here, there's nothing to save, there's nothing to protect. "We're going after it." Voss acknowledged the disappointment of Carlton's long-suffering supporters, who had expected the club to seriously challenge for a premiership this season after two straight finals appearances. "What we're really blessed with is that we get to turn up (against Collingwood) and we get to play in front of 80,000 to 85,000 fans," Voss said. "We see that as a real competitive advantage for us. "We want that noise in the stadium. "We want to energise that noise in the stadium." Voss believed Priestley's backing was part of Carlton's overall "alignment". "To have that leadership through this period of time is going to be important," he said. "My role in that's going to be really important, but we've got a great group of people here." Incoming chief executive Graham Wright will have a significant say over Voss's future, with his official takeover from current boss Brian Cook brought forward to August 15. Wright helped shape the current Hawthorn and Collingwood set-ups when he was their football boss, and will bring significant experience to his new role. "Having the date is obviously important," Voss said of Wright. "I've probably spoken about the advantage we've had with having two leaders (Cook and Wright) here. "We've been in constant dialogue with him (Wright) the whole way through since he arrived ... part of that relationship hasn't changed."

Embattled Carlton coach Michael Voss is adamant he and the club's board are 'aligned' on his position and declared he and his players were 'going after' the remainder of the season and nothing would be held back despite finals being almost impossible. Blues supporters are in open revolt after back-to-back losses to North Melbourne and then last week's disaster against Port Adelaide with the unrest moving the club president to declare Voss would see out the season. But Rob Priestley also refused to confirm Voss would see out his full contract, which runs through to the end of 2026, pending a review. Ahead of a monster clash with ladder leaders Collingwood, Voss on Thursday said he took that current support on board and would continue getting 'busy' on making his battling team better. 'What we've always been is pretty aligned with where we need to go,' Voss said. 'It's probably the least of things that I'm thinking about at the moment. 'It's more about care for our people, and we've got a job to do, and it's been fairly eyes in, and also know that that sort of connection and alignment will help us. 'And so to have that, have that leadership through this period of time is going to be important my role. 'And yeah, we're busy getting after getting better.' Voss flagged 'a few' changes to the side for the clash with the Magpies and despite, with a 6-9 record, finals seemingly out of the question, said there would be no holding back in the final eight rounds. 'For us, this season is live, there's a lot to get out of this year,' he said. 'There's nothing parked, there's nothing saved, there's nothing to protect, we are going after it.' Star forward Charlie Curnow has gone goalless in the two losses which have heaped pressure on Voss and the Blues and the coach said there was only one way for him to turn his form around. 'Persistence, it's about persistence,' he said. 'I thought he competed really hard (against Port Adelaide), he fought right to the end as most of the guys did. We've got to try and generate the opportunities for him to capitalise.' Voss conceded there was 'peak interest' in his club right now and that he and the players accepted the extra scrutiny and attention, but had a form focus on blocking out the noise and improving. 'Of course, there's an expectation that there's going to be a level of focus. So there's, there's peak interest in us right now, so that we can't step away from that,' he said. 'But also you can't act into it as well. You know, there's certain things that we get to be able to do, how we turn up and how we show up, that's on us. 'And so we lock in on what we need to be able to do next, and we've got Collingwood, so that's a that's a really big game, and that can shift your focus pretty quickly. 'So there's no rest here. We look forward and keep going.'

Ellie Carpenter joins Chelsea from Lyon, teaming up with Matildas captain Sam Kerr
Star Matilda Ellie Carpenter has signed a four-year deal to play for English powerhouse Chelsea, joining fellow Australian Sam Kerr at the London club. The defender, 25, leaves Lyon after a successful five-year stint at the French women's football giant, winning two Champions Leagues. Carpenter is reuniting with coach Sonia Bompastor, who was in charge of Lyon for those Champions League triumphs, with the duo hoping to add to Chelsea's immense success in the women's game. Chelsea has won six consecutive English Women's Super League titles, while also claiming the FA Cup and League Cup last season. "I'm very proud to join such a big club, one of the biggest in women's football," Carpenter said in an interview with the club. "Chelsea have enjoyed so much success in England, and I'm delighted to now be a part of it." Carpenter joins Matildas captain Kerr, who has been a stalwart for Chelsea over a number of years. Kerr has missed a season-and-a-half after sustaining an ACL injury in January of 2024. Born in Cowra, NSW, Carpenter has achieved more than most despite being just 25 years of age. She earned her first Matildas cap at the age of 15 and became the youngest ever woman to compete in football at the Olympic Games in Rio, 2016. She was named Young Footballer of the Year in Australia in 2018, 2019 and 2020, won an A-League premiership and grand final with Melbourne City. Carpenter has also had a stint in the United States playing for Portland Thorns. The Australian is now contracted to Chelsea until the end of the 2028-29 season.
