Brendan Fevola reveals what REALLY happened in wild footy brawl that saw him sent off the field - and the very Aussie thing he did straight after

Brendan Fevola has opened up on what really happened during his viral on-field scuffle during a local footy game this weekend, with the Blues legend claiming that it was all 'just a bit of fun'. In the true spirit of the game, the former Brisbane Lions star also revealed that he had had a beer with the opposition players he had feuded with after the match. Fevola, 44, ran out for South Whyalla on Saturday afternoon as they took on South Australian rivals Central Whyalla. The two-time Coleman Medallist enjoyed a fine outing, booting two goals for the side as the Souths sealed a two-point win over their rivals. However, during the game tempers flared as Fevola appeared to be pushed in the back by one of the Central Whyalla defenders. And he didn't take kindly to the action, turning around to shove his opponent a big shove, before several other players from both teams ran in as the brawl escalated. Speaking on the Fifi, Fev and Nick show, the former footy star said that he had gone into the sheds after the match and enjoyed a beer with the opposition players he'd feuded with The group continued to tussle, with Fevola finding himself on the floor at one point, before he was sent to the sin bin by the umpire, despite being awarded a free kick. Speaking on Tuesday morning's The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick, Brendan 'Fev' Fevola show, Fevola was pressed on whether he feels like he is targeted when he turns out to play local footy, but laughed off the question and media reports surrounding the scuffle. 'The guys go (for) you,' Fifi said to Fevola. 'From my perspective, the guy's pushed you in the back, you turned around and retaliated.' Fevola replied: 'We just had a little scuffle! 'I don't know how this is actually news because it's quite funny! 'This would go on in every single local footy game across Australia every Saturday.' Nick then added: 'Your head would be an absolute magnet. But there would be people that go, 'Oh, Fev's come over to South Australia for a game… I'm gonna try and whack him.' Since retiring, Fevola, who made 204 AFL appearances, has played for a number of local footy sides, from Waratah in the Northern Territory Footy League to Yarrawonga in Victoria. Back in May, he and Guy Sebastian notably ran out for Masala Dandenong's reserves. Being such a high-profile figure in the sport, Fevola noticed that some players were trying to get under his skin during Saturday's match. 'It was happening all day, but it very rarely happens,' the radio host said. 'The only time I got hit properly was a game I played in Monbulk - I got king hit. '[This has] gone viral but it was just a little scuffle. 'No one was hurt and it was a bit of fun. The guy I was scuffling with came up to me, shook my hand, and said: "How good is country footy?", and I was like: "The best!", and then we had a beer together. 'I got a message from the President of the other club – his name is Scott – and he said: "Just want to apologise on behalf of the Central Whyalla Football Club for the weekend, the run-in from behind mostly. "The run-in was pretty ordinary stuff and was no good from our bloke. I'm the President of the Club and was the full-forward at the other end. "I haven't seen a minor game crowd like that at Whyalla almost ever, so no doubt it was a massive success for the league, so just want to shout you out, mate. 'Apologies again, from the CWFC President. You've come out to this small town in South Australia so congratulations to you." 'Oh, that's really nice!' Fifi replied.

Barton Gold Holdings Limited (ASX:BGD)(FRA:BGD3)(OTCQB:BGDFF) (Barton or Company) is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Wudinna Gold Project (Wudinna) from Cobra Resources PLC (Cobra) (Transaction). Wudinna is located ~200km southeast of Barton's South Australian Tunkillia Gold Project (Tunkillia) and 200km west of Whyalla, South Australia in the north-central area of the Eyre Peninsula. The Wudinna Gold Project is comprised of the Barns, White Tank, Clarke and Baggy Green Deposits hosting a combined JORC (2012) Mineral Resources Estimate (MRE) of 279,000oz Au (5.81Mt @ 1.5 g/t Au). Brendan Fevola marched off field after local footy incident

Brendan Fevola has been involved in a fiery on-field incident during a cameo football appearance in South Australia on Saturday. The Carlton cult hero was shown a yellow card and was sent off the field for 10 minutes for his role in a melee during South Whyalla's derby against Central Whyalla at Memorial Oval. The match was streamed live by the SA Regional Footy page on Facebook and the cameras captured the moment Fevola was involved in a scuffle in the final quarter of the Roosters' 6.10 (46) to 6.8 (44) win over the Demons. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited-time offer. The stream showed Fevola, playing for South Whyalla, turned and shoved a Central Whyalla player after he had been jabbed in the back as he stood on the mark following a grab taken near the goal square. Spectator vision obtained by The Advertiser, then shows the moment the former Coleman Medallist appeared to wrestle two opposition players before tensions boiled over. The publication reports Fevola and one opposition player began throwing punches at each other after a third Central Whyalla player ran into the scuffle and pushed the 44-year-old in the back. You can watch the full incident in the video player above. Vision shows the Fevola was dragged to the ground by a Central Whyalla player before the melee was broken up and play continued. Fevola was then shown a yellow card by the umpire and took a seat on the bench late in the game. The former Brisbane Lions forward was in good spirits after the game and was seen with fans during a promotional night for the football club. Fevola was not reported by the umpires for the incident. He has made a habit of causing drama at local footy matches this year. Fevola teamed up with Guy Sebastian to make a one-off appearance for VAFA Division 5 Thirds team the Masala Dandenong Football Club in May. Sebastian ended up limping from the field in the fourth quarter with a serious knee injury.

See the moment AFL legend turned radio star Brendan Fevola gets into a fight with three rivals in footy grudge match

Carlton great Brendan Fevola has been filmed in a nasty brawl with two rival footballers as he played for a struggling South Australian club on Sunday. The 44-year-old ran out for South Whyalla and kicked two goals to play a big role in the club's two-point win over bitter rivals Central Whyalla - but got into a heated melee in the fourth quarter of the match. Fevola was in a confrontation with two opposition players when a third ran in and smashed into him from behind. 'Fev' reacted by grabbing the opposition player's jersey with his right hand and punching him repeatedly in the upper chest while his own top was nearly ripped off as he was slung to the ground, taking the two rivals with him. Footage of the incident was captured by SA Regional Footy. 'Fev's into it!' one of the commentators said. 'Fev's getting a how do you do,' his calling partner added. 'Young Quirky's into it! Hello, hello, hello! Gee, he's got three versus one. 'Not sure if this is a fairly good welcome, is it? He's come in to play a game of footy for the Whyalla footy league and he's getting a fair bit of attention.' Fevola was awarded a free kick after the stoush but was also 'sent off' for 10 minutes in that final quarter, News Corp reported. The two goals from the former Blues champion were crucial in the 6.10 (46) to 6.8 (44) victory, but it's not the first time he has made headlines while playing for a struggling club. On May 10 he and singer Guy Sebastian ran out for Masala Dandenong's reserves side as the club tried to break a long losing streak. The two stars helped the team record a two-point win - but Sebastian was forced to use crutches after rupturing his Achilles tendon. 'Guy actually played the first quarter, sung at half-time, sung virtually a whole concert and then he was so into it, he was actually having a crack,' Fevola explained. The 44-year-old (pictured during his time with the South Whyalla team on the weekend) was awarded a free kick after the wild confrontation 'Fev' made headlines during another game for a struggling club last month as his teammate Guy Sebastian (pictured together) picked up a serious injury 'He goes "I'll play the second half". Fourth quarter, I saw him fall down and I couldn't stop laughing because he just fell. I was like "mate, singers shouldn't play footy, footy players shouldn't sing, keep to your genre". 'And he looked around and he goes "I think something popped". I said that's not good, because I've done both Achilles. 'He's ruptured his Achilles. He's getting surgery on Monday and is in hospital. So he missed his mate's 40th but hey we got good headlines, which is great (laughs).' Their participation wasn't without controversy. Before the match, the Victorian Amateur Football Association launched an investigation into concerns raised by rival clubs over whether the high-profile pair were being paid - which is prohibited in the amateur league. The league confirmed both Fevola and Sebastian were cleared to play after assurances they would receive no payment or benefits.

South Australia shaken by jobs challenges and Premier Peter Malinauskas must be at top of his game

South Australia's foundations are being shaken by global and natural forces, with tempestuous times ahead. In a tumultuous past fortnight, bedrocks of the state economy, employing thousands of people, have been plunged into doubt. Santos, the state's biggest company by far, is the target of an almost $30bn takeover bid by an Abu Dhabi raider, casting great uncertainty over the future of its Adelaide head office. The $368bn nuclear-powered submarine project centred on Adelaide is under threat from a 30-day United States review assessing its alignment with President Donald Trump's America First agenda. Despite some heartening rain, the drought continues to ravage the state's farms – SA primary industries generate $17.1bn annually. State debt was forecast to soar to $48.495bn in the state budget unveiled on June 5, after which the influential S & P Global Ratings warned big new spending ahead of next March's state election could trigger a credit rating downgrade. The purse strings will continue to be tested by the Whyalla steelworks and mine, as the budget set aside $384m in state and federal funds for a potential six-month extension of the state-induced administration. The Malinauskas government might have repeatedly ruled out an ownership stake in Whyalla's steelworks but a $2.4bn state/federal rescue package leaves both on the hook until a new owner is found. Public sector unions are restless. The SA Salaried Medical Officers Association on Thursday rejected a 10 per cent pay rise over three years and recommitted to walking off the job on Wednesday. These are extraordinary and foundational challenges, of varying degrees of concern, to the state economy and, most particularly, the potential for today's aspirational young South Australians to find well-paid, challenging jobs. The risk of Santos's head office leaving Adelaide should not be dismissed lightly. A foreign takeover, as my colleague Giuseppe Tauriello observed on Wednesday, would significantly diminish the last corporate heavyweight left standing in South Australia. Santos dwarfs other SA companies for jobs, investment, sponsorship and general corporate clout. It is four times the size of the state's second biggest firm, Argo Investments, and more than eight times the size of third-ranking Codan. Business success matters in a state where the population is overwhelmingly concentrated in the capital, and most jobs are underpinned by state and federal government spending of some form. Santos and partner Beach Energy in January officially opened a nation-leading Moomba carbon storage project, billed as kickstarting a $600bn industry and hailed by Premier Peter Malinauskas as a 'historic day for our state'. Mr Malinauskas responded to the Santos takeover bid by declaring his government's 'priority at all times is to ensure that South Australian jobs remain in South Australia, and to maintain Santos' headquarters in Adelaide'. This will be a test of his government's mettle and resolve, along with its legislative levers that include ministerial approval for a change in controlling interest of a petroleum resources licence holder, like Santos. Opposition Leader Vincent Tarzia, in his Tuesday budget reply speech, predictably painted a bleak picture of a state ravaged by debt, skyrocketing costs, unaffordable homes and a floundering health care system. Nine months out from the next state election, he vowed to deliver a 'debt management plan' to ensure this was at 'a sustainable level'. Mr Tarzia declared the state was 'at a crossroads'. He was right, although the future is always uncertain. Mr Malinauskas has a strong story to tell on economic confidence, a historically low jobless rate and the state's standing in the nation. But he will be justifiably wary of overconfidence ahead of the state election, even if his opponents are at a historically low ebb in their standing. The state is facing some serious challenges and the Premier will need to be at the top of his game.
