A 14-year-old boy has been killed after he was tragically knocked down by a car towing a trailer.
Police have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by careless driving whilst unfit through drugs.
Emergency services rushed to the horror crash in Catherington, near Waterlooville, Hampshire, at around 9pm last night.
The 14-year-old schoolboy, who was a pedestrian at the time, sadly died at the scene.
The suspect has been released from custody pending further investigations, police have said.
Police have called on anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the crash to get in touch.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: 'Officers are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a fatal collision.
'Police were called at 9pm on Monday to a collision on Lovedean Lane, Catherington. The collision involved a car towing a trailer and a pedestrian.
'Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, including the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, the pedestrian, a 14-year-old boy, died at the scene.
'A 24-year-old man from Waterlooville was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving whilst unfit through drugs and has been released under investigation.
'As part of our investigation we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who has relevant dash cam footage capturing the incident or the moments leading up to it.
'Were you on Lovedean Lane around the time of the incident? Did you see the vehicle or pedestrian in the area before the collision?
'If you have any information, please contact us online or via 101.'

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being attacked by two XL Bullies and another dog in a horror attack in Scotland. The victim, 69, was reportedly left with 'serious' injuries after being mauled by the dogs in Shindale, Invershin, at around 1.40pm on Tuesday. She was taken by air ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and her condition is unknown. It is understood, two of the dogs are XL Bullies and both are registered and legally owned. The third dog was also not a banned breed. A 76-year-old man has been arrested and charged over the incident. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 1.40pm on Tuesday, 8 July, 2025, we received a report of a woman having been injured by three dogs in Shindale, Invershin. 'Emergency services attended, and the 69-year-old woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance with what are described as serious injuries. 'A 76-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and enquiries are ongoing.' A spokesperson for the Scottish Air Ambulance Service said: 'We received a call at 1.27pm to attend an incident in Invershin, Lairg. 'We dispatched one ambulance, two GPs, and an air ambulance to the scene. We transported one patient to Raigmore Hospital by air ambulance.' It is not known what has happened to the dogs at this stage.
