Dubai Police warn against E-scams involving fake discount offers
As part of their ongoing campaign "Be Aware of Fraud," Dubai Police urged the public to exercise caution and take proactive measures to avoid falling victim to such schemes.
The police advised the public to avoid overly enticing or unrealistic offers and refraining from clicking on suspicious links or sharing them with others, to verify the credibility of advertisements by checking the publisher's account, review user ratings, comments, and previous experiences on social media platforms or websites.
If there are indications of scam activity, avoid the platform immediately and report it. The police also advise to monitor the language and phrasing used in ads or websites as poor grammar, spelling errors, or unprofessional wording are red flags for potential scams, and to contact the official product owner directly through their customer service or verified website to confirm the legitimacy of the offer.
Dubai Police also emphasised the importance of not clicking on suspicious links, not sharing personal or banking information, and never sending ID numbers, credit card details, or OTP (One-Time Password) codes received from banks unless the recipient's authenticity is 100% verified.
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious ads or fraud attempts immediately via the Dubai Police smart app or by calling 901. Authorities stressed that individual awareness and cooperation are the first line of defence against such transnational crimes, which exploit advancements in digital communication.

Dubai Police respond to a 10-year-old boy's complaint about his father's cruelty
The Dubai Police have confirmed that they are always open to receiving reports of any violations of children's rights in accordance with the UAE's Child Rights Law, 'Wadeema', via their communication channels with the General Directorate of Human Rights. The General Command emphasised the importance of reporting any instance of violence or abuse against children immediately, to ensure rapid intervention and the provision of necessary support. The Dubai Police have indicated that communication via the smart application, the official website or by calling 901 is conducted in complete confidentiality. Alternatively, individuals can visit the Children's Oasis directly at the Dubai Police General Command headquarters in the Al Twar area. The Child and Women's Protection Department at the General Directorate of Human Rights received a report filed by a 10-year-old boy who complained about his father's excessive cruelty. He severely beats him up causing visible bruises and contusions on his small body. The child repeatedly tried to hide these injuries from his peers at school. Lieutenant Colonel Dr Ali Al Matrooshi, Director of the Child and Women Protection Department, said that they received a report from a 10-year-old child named 'A.A.' via the Protection Service on the Dubai Police smart app. The child complained of his father's excessive cruelty, which he alone suffered, unlike his two younger brothers. This cruelty has made him feel isolated and unaware of the mistakes he makes that cause his father to treat him so harshly, whether verbally or physically. His school administration noticed the bruises on his body and the decline in his academic performance and advised him to report it through the Dubai Police smart application. He added, 'The child did not dare complain for fear of being punished, but the school social worker noticed bruises and a pale face. After speaking with the child, the social worker encouraged him to seek help from the Dubai Police to stop his father's harsh treatment." 'We summoned the child's father, who confirmed that he did not intend to abuse his son. However, as the eldest son, he was using the same method with which he had been raised, believing that this would make his son strong and tough," he said. "However, he continued to abuse and treat his son with excessive cruelty, even beating him as a method of discipline, which caused bruising and visible marks on his body. The child's academic performance also declined, and he gradually became isolated from his peers,' Al Matroushi said. He confirmed that the specialised team from the Child and Women Protection Department had spoken with the father, who had promised to change the way he treated his child. He noted that the department is taking appropriate legal action in this regard and emphasising to the father that this style of parenting is completely wrong and punishable by law. Al Matrooshi indicated that Dubai Police would continue to provide regular updates and communicate with the child. They will also provide appropriate social and psychological rehabilitation and counselling in cooperation with partners.

Dubai Police unveil initiative to promote tourist safety in summer
DUBAI - Dubai Police, represented by the Tourist Police Department under the General Department of Criminal Investigation, launched a summer initiative to promote tourist safety, aimed at enhancing security and instilling concepts of safety and awareness among the public. The initiative is organised in partnership with the Positive Spirit Council, the General Department of Community Happiness, the Crime Prevention Department, the Dubai Police Academy and the Security Inspection Department (K9), in collaboration with the MST JUNIOR Academy. The campaign was launched at Umm Suqeim Beach in the presence of Brigadier Khalfan Obaid Al Jallaf, Director of the Tourist Police Department; Fatima Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council; Captain Ahmed Al Fujeir Al Muhairi, Head of the Beach Security Section; as well as several officers, Dubai Police employees and volunteers. Brigadier Al Jallaf stated that the initiative reflects Dubai Police's ongoing commitment to promoting tourism security, raising public awareness and introducing the services of the Tourist Police Department. He highlighted the importance of educating tourists on how to report incidents through the emergency number 999 and the non-emergency number 901. He added that the campaign is part of the General Department of Criminal Investigation's initiatives in support of Dubai Police's strategic vision to enhance safety, foster a secure tourism environment and enrich the overall visitor experience in the emirate. As part of the initiative, Dubai Police organised sporting activities and distributed awareness materials to tourists at Umm Suqeim Beach. The event also featured a musical performance by the Dubai Police band and a K9 police dog show.
