Topshop is back on the high street for one day only, and we've got everything you need to know about the iconic brand's limited-time pop-up event
It's official! Topshop is coming back to the high street, well, for one day at least. This Saturday, the iconic British brand is popping up in London for a limited-time event.
Topshop is launching a basement takeover with Defected Records, so not only will you be able to shop some classic Topshop pieces (we're talking Joni and Jamie jeans) and the new Talamanca collection, but you can dance the day away to some great music.
The pop-up marks a major moment following Topshop's much-hyped digital relaunch and brand new website, and it promises all the fashion, nostalgia, and 2000s cool-girl vibes you'd expect, plus a few surprises.
Want to know where, when, and what to expect? Tickets were available on Eventbrite, but of course, these sold out straight away. Don't worry, though, as they'll be taking walk-ins on the day from 10am - 6pm. Expect stylish pieces, live DJ sets from Defected's Olive F, cocktails by MOTH, a full Glam Bar experience, and exclusive, limited-edition Topshop x Defected merch.
The location? Basement of Defected Records HQ, 23 Curtain Road, London, EC2A 3LT.
Whether you've been mourning the Oxford Street flagship or stalking their online comeback, now's your chance to get that Topshop experience once more.
If you can't make it down to London for this event, we've got you covered with our pick of Topshop's coolest new-in pieces for spring and summer on ASOS right now...

Lena Dunham reflects on the 'insane' public discourse around her body in nude scenes on Girls as she says she's lucky that her thing was 'never to look at a picture of myself and pick it apart'

Lena Dunham has recalled the insanity of the public discussion surrounding her body during her nude scenes on her series Girls. The actress and director, 39, created and starred in the acclaimed HBO show from 2012 to 2017, and frequently bared all as character Hannah Horvath to film the show's trailblazing sex scenes. However, the frank depictions of sex stirred much controversy at the time, with particular discourse centering on Lena and her body shape, including from cruel trolls. Reflecting on the furor in a new interview, the star admitted she had never expected the level of obsession around her figure and admitted she was 'lucky' that it didn't affect her as much as it could've. Speaking to The Sunday Times STYLE, Lena said: 'I expected that people would have a response to the kind of sex the show was depicting or the level of nudity, but the idea that my body, the shape of my body, would become such a hotbed for discussion? It was insane. 'I can't say I was never rocked, but I'm lucky enough that my thing has never been looking at a picture of myself and picking myself apart or feeling tortured about how I looked — it's just not my area. I have my own stuff I'm tortured about, but it wasn't that.' She added that we are now living in an 'Ozempiced-out moment', where the body positive movement has seemingly disappeared. Last year, Lena revealed that her desire to not have her 'body dissected again' was the reason she cast Megan Stalter to play the lead role in the semi-autobiographical series, Too Much - which is set to drop on Netflix on July 10. Speaking to the New Yorker in July about why she didn't play the role herself, she said: 'I was not willing to have another experience like what I'd experienced around [Girls] at this point in my life. 'Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again. It was a hard choice, not to cast Meg — because I knew I wanted Meg — but to admit that to myself. 'I used to think that winning meant you just keep doing it and you don't care what anybody thinks. I forgot that winning is actually just protecting yourself and doing what you need to do to keep making work.' While she heaped praise on actress Megan, saying: 'I remember looking at Meg and being, like, "You are my muse. You inspire me every single day to go home and tap out pages upon pages." I definitely don't want to be my own muse.' Too Much follows thinly-veiled character Jessica, who falls in love with a British musician called Felix (Will Sharpe) after moving from New York to North London. Lena also happens to be a New Yorker who had a bad break-up with singer Jack Antonoff and then moved to London where she married British-Peruvian musician Luis Felber - who's the composer and co-creator of Too Much. The eight-time Emmy nominee acknowledged: 'It's not a huge leap. But I knew from the very beginning I would not be the star of it. 'I was thinking a lot about, like, What is it that allows women to be complicated on TV and still be embraced and seen and understood? 'There's an openness to Meg's presence that I think goes a long way. She has whatever the opposite of resting bitch face is. She has resting angel face.' She went on to emphasize that the show isn't conceived around the idea of plus-size woman finding love, with her curves being incidental to the story. Lena explained: 'Meg is one of the beautiful women working today. She is so alarmingly gorgeous. The fact that she is not a size 0, or that she's not part of the new class of Ozempic-thin women, is not part of it... 'It's really important to me that there be a love affair between a guy and a girl where the fact that she is not teensy-weensy doesn't drive it. 'We were, like, "We don't want anyone to think we're doing a show about a beautiful man doing someone a favor."' It comes after Lena previously admitted struggling with her frequent nude scenes on Girls as the seasons went on. Speaking to Refinery29 in 2016, ahead of the final season of the show, she confessed her feelings towards stripping off on screen had been affected by the huge amount of scrutiny over her body that she was hit with. Lena also happens to be a New Yorker who had a bad break-up with singer Jack Antonoff and then moved to London where she married British-Peruvian musician Luis Felber - who's the composer and co-creator of Too Much (pictured together in 2022) Speaking in 2016, ahead of the final season of Girls she confessed her feelings towards stripping off on screen had been affected by the huge amount of scrutiny over her body that she was hit with (pictured in 2016) She confessed: 'When I first started the show, I wasn't in a relationship, no one knew who I was, I was just kind of living for the work. 'So when I took my clothes off on camera, it was just an extension of that. It didn't occur to me that in the first season, TV critics and people on the Internet would be seeing this. 'Now, for better or worse, when I take my clothes off, I already can hear the din of the reaction.' While she added that it wasn't only external pressure that has changed her outlook on nudity, but also her age. Lena said: 'Part of getting older for me has actually been feeling more modest. Unfortunately, Hannah Horvath doesn't always allow for that. I hope to reprise some of her nudity in this final season with vigor'.

Bob Vylan's bizarre rise to fame…from making music on Playstation to sick ‘kill the Queen' rant & vile fan threats

One fan claims the lead singer once hurled abuse at her during a gig over petty row involving an ice cube WITH their vile chants of 'death, death to the IDF' at Glastonbury this weekend, punk-rap duo Bob Vylan left thousands of music fans across the country appalled. The stunt - referring to the killing of the Israel Defence Forces - has been slammed as 'appalling hate speech' by the Prime Minister that risked 'inciting violence'. Arguably festival organisers - and the BBC - should have seen this coming from a band who relish controversy, claim to be 'too extreme' to be signed by any record label and have lyrics including 'kill the f***ing Queen'. Such is the level of violence and hatred in their lyrics that they have been considered "too extreme" for the band to be officially signed by a major record label, so they trade under their own, which is called Ghost Theatre. This meant they hand-delivered albums to record stores personally and booked their own shows before landing success and touring with Biffy Clyro and Offspring, and performing at Reading and Leeds festivals in 2021. Advertisement 'Everyone is here bigging up Atlantic, bigging up Warner - f*** that! Big us up, because we did it without a major label budget,' Pascal said in 2022. Anti-monarchy, anti-British and pro-Palestine, Bob Vylan has proudly declared in the past how "trying to wind people up" is one of the few ways to 'derive enjoyment from living in this country'. 'If I can just say a thing and you'll get upset then that feels like a small victory and I'll print it on a T-shirt and wear that T-shirt every day,' Pascal told Tribune Magazine in 2022. In the wake of their Glastonbury set, which has received widespread condemnation including from Emily Eavis, who claimed it "very much crossed a line", Pascal shared a smirking snap of himself captioned: 'While zionists are crying on socials, I've just had late night (vegan) ice cream.' Advertisement Since forming in 2017, Bob Vylan - who perform under stage names to maintain privacy in the face of what they call a "surveillance state" - has revelled in stirring up anger with controversial messaging and lyrics, and even threatened violence against their own fans. Pascal - who previously performed as 'Nee-Hi' in grime group Ear 2 Da Street in his early teens - has claimed he was inspired by his 'boring' childhood in Ipswich. Around a decade ago he went vegan. Pascal characterises his angry, resentful lyrics as "a reflection of the anger from systemic mistreatment", according to The Guardian, with the struggles of being a black man in Europe a recurring theme in the band's repertoire. He claimed he was seven years old when he was first called the N-word and described the violence his "bredrin were surrounded by" as a teenager. In We Live Here, Pascal rapped: 'Neighbours called me 'n*****', told me 'go back to my own country'; Said since we arrived, this place has got so ugly; But this is my f***ing country and it's never been f***ing lovely.' Advertisement He also claimed to suffer at the hands of a cruel landlord when he was a young dad - 'a baby with a baby' - stuck living in dangerous housing conditions. 'It was cold, it was damp, the windows were not double glazed, there was mould,' he told The Guardian. 'The extractor fan caught fire when we were not home and there was a fire in the flat. Came home and whole place was black; everything smelled like smoke. 'And the landlord couldn't give a f***. My partner got pneumonia during the pregnancy because of it. And he just didn't care.' Advertisement Vile 'kill the Queen' chants Pascal raps there is 'nothing great' about Great Britain in the 2024 track Makes Me Violent, and sickeningly called for the late Queen's death in the band's 2020 release England's Ending. The vile lyrics read: 'This country's in dire need of a f***ing spanking, mate; Look it over, get the f***ing dinosaurs out; Yeah, and kill the f***ing Queen; She killed Diana, we don't love her anyway.' Their anti-monarchy stance is also evident on the track Reign, where Pascal raps: 'Got a message for the thieves in the palace, we want the jewels back." The band - who do not cite Jewish singer-songwriter Bob Dylan as a musical influence - is also known for leading 'f*** the government' chants at gigs and regularly taking pops at politicians and public figures. Advertisement Lyrics include: 'let's go dig up Maggie's grave and ask her where that milk went' - in reference to ex-PM Margaret Thatcher's decision to end free school milk for kids over seven back in 1971. The band has also cited the cost of living crisis and escalating London rent prices, including in track GYAG with the words: 'Landlord just raised your rent, better get yourself a gun.' Threatening fans 8 Bob Vylan at the NME Awards in 2022 Credit: Getty At times the band's vitriol has spilled over during performances with fans becoming the target. Advertisement In 2021 gig-goer Sarah Corbett claimed she was verbally abused by Pascal and feared retribution in a petty row over an ice cube. She told the Norwich Evening News: 'We were all having fun on the dance floor. I'd put an ice cube down my friend's top for a laugh. "Another girl then threw it at her friend, but it missed and landed at his feet. At that point he stopped the gig and demanded to know who had thrown it.' Sarah took the flack for the incident and Pascal, who was wielding a baseball bat, lashed out at her and later refused to apologise. Advertisement 'He started abusing me through the microphone,' she recalled. 'As I tried to leave, one of his fans tried to grab me by the throat." Onlooker Mark Evans backed-up her claims, calling it a 'horrible, bizarre rant… all over an ice cube' that led him to conclude the musician's 'credibility has gone'. [Pascal] started abusing me through the microphone... As I tried to leave, one of his fans tried to grab me by the throat Sarah Corbett, former fan Pascal previously threatened to beat up a heckler at a Manchester gig in an expletive-laden rant, with a clip recently re-posted on X. In it the singer yelled: 'I'd have you on your arse in no time you f***ing t**t. Advertisement 'But I tell you what buy a ticket to the show at The Ritz and I'll f***ing meet you outside side and punch you outside you d***head.' The band has also channelled frustration toward other musicians for not jumping on their activist bandwagon - particularly when it comes to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Pascal told NME in 2023: 'It's a cowardly f***ing thing. So f*** IDLES, f*** Sleaford Mods. 'And f*** every single one of those f***ing apolitical bands that don't want to f***ing speak up when there's something a little bit iffy, a little bit touchy, a little bit sensitive [because they have] got a f***ing bulls*** album to sell. Advertisement 'F*** that. We can't f***ing respect that at all. F*** them.' But their recent Glastonbury stunt could prove a step too far. US website The Daily Caller reported that Donald Trump's administration is now looking into visas obtained by Bob Vylan for a 16-date tour of North America. 'The US government will not issue visas to any foreigner who supports terrorists,' a senior State Department official said, suggesting it could be revoked. Advertisement Glastonbury Festival organisers have also distanced themselves from the band, insisting the event was 'no place… for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence'. But Bob Vylan remains unapologetic; today Pascal shared footage regarding the Palestine conflict and called for more action, claiming it is 'incredibly important' to inspire future generations of activists in spite of the 'suffocation of adult life'. 'Let them see us marching in the streets, campaigning on ground level, organising online and shouting about it on any and every stage that we are offered,' he wrote. British star makes tattoo vow after claiming biggest Wimbledon win of her career

World No.51 Sonay Kartal ensured a winning start for British players at Wimbledon on Monday when she saw off 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko - and another win could bring a tattoo Sonay Kartal is keen to add to her tattoo collection after beating 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko in the opening round at Wimbledon. Kartal overcame the 20th seed 7-5 2-6 6-2 to become the first Brit to book her place in the second round on Monday. The 23-year-old has been climbing the rankings recently and, having reached 51st in the world, she picked up her third over a top-20 player this year. ‌ She is one of 14 British women, with 23 Brits in total competing in the main draw of Wimbledon and continued her strong showings at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. ‌ After claiming three wins in 2024, the British No.3 picked up where she left off on court three, beating Ostapenko, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2018. Kartal already has 14 tattoos and was asked whether she might get inked to commemorate this performance. 'A tattoo? Maybe not for the first round,' she replied. 'Maybe I would have to go a few rounds further to get one, I think. Maybe if I made it to the second week, I'll probably get one. Knowing me, I'd get one. 'Yeah, I mean, I'm just so happy to be back and to be playing as well as I did today. I enjoyed every second being on that court. It was an incredible atmosphere. To have the crowd in your ear just supporting you when you need it the most, yeah, it's super touching and it means a lot. 'What [tattoo] would I get? I haven't thought about it. I'll come back to you in the next press conference. But I've got a few that are in the lineup, as well. So I have to see if we can bump the queue.' Asked if strawberries might be a fitting image for a tattoo, Kartal replied: 'No. I don't think so. I wouldn't get something that obvious. I would get something that people are connected to Wimbledon and understand Wimbledon, they would understand. Maybe not necessarily to somebody not involved in tennis. I would like to get something related to Wimbledon.' Kartal reached the third round of Wimbledon last year before falling to Coco Gauff and feels that the Ostapenko win is her best at the tournament. 'I would say it probably ranks top, I think. Just proving to myself that I can compete with the best,' she said. 'She's obviously an incredible player and has so much experience on the tour, as well. She has an amazing game for grass. 'I think that one is probably my biggest win, and also kind of I left the court with so much more confidence than I did in the ones last year, for sure.'
