NFL Top 100: Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Lavonte Davis, 2025 Cardinals opponent, is No. 96

USA Today8 hours ago
Bucs LB Lavonte David, whom the Cardinals face in Week 13, is in the top 100 for the seventh time in his career.
Another two players were revealed as part of the 2025 edition of the "NFL Top 100" on Wednesday. Two players in reverse order from 100 to 11 of the top 100 players in the league right now, as voted on by NFL players, are being revealed daily each weekday for nine weeks, followed by a show revealing the top 10 on September 1.
On Wednesday, players No. 95 and 96 were revealed. New Arizona Cardinals linebacker Josh Sweat was named No. 95, as we posted about already. No. 96 is one of the Cardinals' 2025 opponents, Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David.
NFL Top 100: No. 96 Lavonte David, LB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
He was No. 99 last year.
Bucs tackle Tristan Wirfs said in the video that David, who is 35 years old and enters his 14th NFL season, is "so underrated, so slept on."
Wirfs added that David should have multiple Pro Bowls and that he should have made this past year's Pro Bowl. David has only one Pro Bowl selection, in 2025. He has, though, been in the top 100 seven times.
Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson said of his division rival that David "is athletic and hasn't lost his athleticism." Wirfs cited how David was clocked running 19.5 miles per hour while chasing down Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
He is physical, still very athletic and very smart.
The Cardinals will face him and his Bucs in Tampa Bay in Week 13.
In five career games against the Cardinals, David has 27 total tackles, three for loss, two quarterback hits, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one he returned for a touchdown.

Big Ben reacts to Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers' retirement talk: ‘Last glimpse of greatness'

Aaron Rodgers sent the NFL world into a frenzy with his retirement comments — and Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger has weighed in. On Wednesday's livestream of the Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger podcast, Rodgers' retirement comments were a hot topic of discussion — leading Big Ben to praise the farewell tour in 2025: Advertisement "If we're going to take [Rodgers] for his word on that — that this is it — then you're going to get to see one of the greatest of all time play one more season," Roethlisberger said. "I think every week is gonna be must-see TV in a sense. … Fans of football are going to be coming out, whether it's at home, on the road — because you want to get a glimpse of greatness one last time. I think that'll be cool." Pittsburgh is hopeful that Rodgers can channel this "greatness" one last time — potentially leading to the Steelers' first playoff win since the 2016 season. Jonnu Smith reacts to his blockbuster trade: 'I'm great, I'm blessed, I'm a Steeler'

The Pittsburgh trade rumors are over — Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith is now a Steeler, and he just made his feelings on the situation known. Days after the blockbuster trade that saw the Dolphins send Smith and All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey to the Steelers in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick, Pittsburgh's newest tight end shared his honest reaction with former Miami teammate OT Terron Armstead: Advertisement "I didn't foresee this happening with how the season went for me, individually," Smith told Armstead in a one-on-one interview. "Obviously, I had aspirations of ending my career in Miami, with it basically being home for me, my children, my family — but I understand the business side of it, and it didn't work out. I'm grateful. I got no ill feelings toward Miami or nobody in the organization. I can't sit here and lie — say that it didn't sting, when the process was playing itself out…" After revealing his take on leaving Miami, his somber attitude took a complete 180 when discussing his new home in Pittsburgh: "But all in all bro, I'm great, I'm blessed, I'm a Steeler," Smith said. "You know what I'm saying? I'm playing for one of the most historic sports franchises in the history of sports — under a great head coach with [Mike Tomlin], back with my dog Arthur Smith, who I had a lot of success with throughout my career. So, I'm extremely blessed, bro, and I couldn't be more excited." Following the trade, Smith took to social media to post a hype video for his arrival in Pittsburgh — one that had Steelers fans ready to run through a wall. Advertisement Smith has more than enough fuel in the tank for another Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2025 — which is shaping up to be a Super Bowl-or-bust year as Aaron Rodgers' retirement looms. Aaron Rodgers' Malibu workout photo with several Steelers goes viral

Aaron Rodgers has been making up for lost time — training and building chemistry with several of the Steelers' talented pass catchers in Malibu. In rare Rodgers fashion, the Steelers QB took to Instagram and posted a group photo from their summer workout — which has since gone viral and can be seen below: DK Metcalf previously confirmed there would be a California workout taking place with Rodgers, but it's awesome to see wide receivers Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, and tight end Pat Freiermuth make the trip as well. Missing from the Malibu-based workout was none other than newly acquired Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith — who has taken to social media to post a hype video for his upcoming Steelers season. The Steelers offense is shaping up to be an exciting unit to watch in 2025, but one can't help but wonder if there's still a move or two Pittsburgh can make before the season begins.
