KTR slams Shah over inaction against corruption allegations on T'gana govt

Bharath Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao has launched a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding to know why the BJP-led Centre has failed to order an investigation into the corruption allegations against the Congress government in Telangana, a release from BRS PRO said.
Reminding Shah of his remarks made earlier in Nizamabad, where he called the Revanth Reddy-led government an "ATM" for the Congress high command, KTR questioned, "Why hasn't the Union Home Minister acted upon it? What is stopping the Centre from initiating a probe through the CBI or ED?"
Alleging a covert understanding between the BJP and Congress, KTR said, "In Delhi, they stage a mock fight. In Telangana, they strike secret deals. Is BJP shielding Revanth Reddy because it cannot take on BRS alone?"
KTR reminded that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had once accused the Congress of running a "RR Tax" scam in Telangana, but no investigation was initiated. "If you only make allegations during visits, but allow Congress to loot in broad daylight, what message are you sending to the people?" he asked.
The BRS leader also took strong exception to what he described as an orchestrated campaign to defame the Kaleshwaram Project, which played a pivotal role in making Telangana the top rice-producing state in the country. "Unfortunately, a landmark irrigation initiative like Kaleshwaram is being targeted purely for political gain," he said.
On the BJP's developmental record in the state, KTR noted, "Despite eight BJP MPs and two Union Ministers from Telangana, not a single project has been given national status. No IIT, IIM, or central medical institute has been granted. This discrimination hasn't gone unnoticed."
KTR also ridiculed the Centre's repeated "launches" of the Turmeric Board, pointing out that Union Minister Piyush Goyal had already virtually inaugurated it earlier this year. "Now Amit Shah is cutting ribbons for the same office set up in a building constructed by former CM KCR. Not a single rupee was allocated in the budget. Even a permanent building hasn't been sanctioned," he said.
The BRS leader further accused the BJP of betraying Telangana through multiple acts: scrapping the Bayyaram Steel Plant, meant to employ tribal youth.
Cancelling Hyderabad's ITIR project, which would have been a game-changer and pushing forward Andhra Pradesh's Banakacharla project, while curbing Telangana farmers' water rights.
Privatising the operations of Kazipet Coach Factory, thereby dashing youth employment hopes in Warangal, he further alleged.
"Since coming to power at the Centre, BJP has treated Telangana with hostility. The people have rejected them before and will continue to do so", KTR said in his statement.

Sanjeev Arora to be inducted into Punjab Cabinet Thursday
Newly elected Ludhiana West MLA Sanjeev Arora will take oath as minister in Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's cabinet on Thursday, it is learnt. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Arora at 1 pm in a brief ceremony at the Raj Bhawan. AAP leader and industrialist, Arora, resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. He submitted his resignation to Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who accepted it. Arora, a first-time MP, was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab on April 10, 2022, and his tenure was to end on April 9, 2028. With his induction into the Cabinet, Mann will have 17 ministers, including himself. As per rules, Mann can have 18 ministers, including himself, but he is likely to keep a berth vacant. In the run-up to the by-election, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had announced that Arora would be made a minister after his victory. Sources said the party wanted to fill all Cabinet berths, but with the by-election necessitated in Taran Tarn after the death of AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal last week, the party decided to fill only one seat and leave another vacant. 'A Cabinet berth has been kept vacant so that the party can promise the electorates of Tarn Taran that if they elect the AAP candidate, their representative will be inducted into the Cabinet,' a party leader said. Arora was sworn in as the Ludhiana West MLA on last Friday, but his induction is taking place a week later as the Governor was away in Udaipur for a couple of days. Arora secured 35,179 votes, increasing AAP's vote share to 39.02%, an upswing of more than 4% over the party's 2022 performance. Before entering politics, Arora was a well-known businessman and philanthropist. He heads Ritesh Industries Ltd, a textile export firm, and Hampton Sky Realty Ltd. He also founded Femella Fashions, a women's apparel brand, and Teneron Ltd, a manufacturing unit supplying non-ferrous alloys to firms like Suzuki. In 2005, he established the Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust in memory of his parents, both of whom succumbed to cancer. The trust has since supported hundreds of patients. Arora also contributed extensively to Covid-19 relief efforts and medical institutions like Dayanand Medical College. Sources said owing to his interest in the field of healthcare, he may be handed the Department of Health, a portfolio held by Dr Balbir Singh.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday asserted that the Narendra Modi government will not hesitate to eliminate terrorists, wherever they are, and that no distinction will be made between masterminds and the regimes which sponsor them. Pharma graduates from a private university in Noida – and recovered 3.7 kg of Tramadol tablets from their possession. The duo confessed to operating a vendor profile on a major Indian B2B platform, from where they sold pharmaceutical pills to clients across US, Europe, and Australia. Further investigation led to the arrest of a key associate from Mayur Vihar in Delhi, who was in touch with a person from Udupi, Karnataka for organising bulk orders to be shipped to the US. The narcotics agency uncovered data on 50 international consignments, including: 29 packages to the US, 18 to Australia, one each to Estonia, Spain and Switzerland, as per the statement. This information was shared with global counterparts and Interpol, leading to the identification and arrest of a bulk re-shipper and money launderer in Alabama in the US by the US DEA, along with a massive haul of controlled medicines. The criminal drug syndicate operated on encrypted communication platforms like Telegram, relied on cryptocurrency payments, PayPal, Western Union and used anonymous international drop shippers to evade detection. Two more Indian nationals from New Delhi and Jaipur, who handled logistics and supply-side operations. Crackdowns In US, Australia After receiving the information from the NCB, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (US DEA) apprehended Joey Hall, a major re-shipper and a key player in the drug network, after a coordinated operation, leading to the seizure of over 17,000 tablets of controlled medication. The kingpin of the operation has been identified and located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the NCB is working actively with UAE authorities. Additionally, the existence of a clandestine pill manufacturing facility in Australia, directly linked to the syndicate, was revealed and dismantled. Authorities also uncovered multiple cryptocurrency wallets and active parcels linked to the syndicate, indicating a sophisticated and tech-enabled trafficking operation. An Indian-American individual identified as a key money launderer in the network is now facing indictment in the US, as per the statement. The DEA successfully intercepted five parcels, resulting in the recovery of approximately 700 grams of Zolpidem tablets, a commonly misused sedative. More members of this syndicate have been identified and further actions are underway.
