Temerloh accident: Driver of car involved in fatal accident remanded for seven days
Temerloh District Police Chief ACP Mazlan Hassan said the 38-year-old man, whose address is in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, was detained starting today until June 18.
'The suspect was remanded to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,' he said in a statement today.
Earlier, Mazlan was reported to have said that a search of the car found plastic packets suspected to contain syabu and heroin drugs estimated to be worth more than RM6,000.
In the incident around 11 pm, motorcyclist Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri and her pillion rider, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, both aged 18, died at the scene, believed to have been hit by a Perodua Bezza car while they had stopped at a red traffic light.

One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second died while receiving treatment at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah's red zone. 'The third victim sustained fractures to his right wrist and shoulder and is currently being treated in the yellow zone of the same hospital,' he added. He said police are still working to identify and locate the driver of the vehicle involved. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a maximum fine of RM50,000 upon conviction. He urged the public to drive cautiously, obey traffic regulations and be vigilant, especially when passing through poorly lit areas. He added anyone who witnessed the accident or has information to contact investigating officer Insp Khairun Izham Noor Yusry at 013-9121508 or head to the Muar traffic police station to assist in the investigation.

Guar Chempedak crash: Teen succumbs to injuries, cop under probe
BALING: Police have assured a thorough and transparent investigation into the recent death of a teenage student who was hit by a vehicle driven by a policeman in Guar Chempedak. Kedah Police Chief Adzli Abu Shah said the police deeply regret the incident and extend their condolences to the victim's family. "We visited the family yesterday. I personally feel very saddened by this incident. "We will not tolerate any form of negligence. "A full investigation will be carried out without compromise, including an internal probe by the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department," he said at a press conference today. Adzli said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving resulting in death. "Initially, the case was investigated under Section 42(1), but it was reclassified following the victim's death," he said. He said the policeman involved has been detained for investigation and later released on police bail but has not been suspended from duty. "We will evaluate the need for suspension depending on the progress of the investigation," he said. The victim, a Form Four student, was critically injured after his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by a policeman who had allegedly run a red light in Guar Chempedak on Monday. The teen, identified as Muhammad Nur Iman Danial Mohd Roshidi, 16, succumbed to his injuries after nearly three days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star.

Factory operator killed in car crash in Kluang
KLUANG: A factory operator was killed after losing control of his car and crashing into a tree. Kluang deputy OCPD Supt Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said the police received information from the public about the accident, which occurred at KM76 Jalan Johor Baru–Ayer Hitam at 8.20 a.m. on Saturday (August 2). 'Preliminary investigation showed the 32-year-old male victim was travelling from Simpang Renggam to Ayer Hitam. 'Upon reaching the area, the victim is believed to have lost control of his vehicle before veering off the road and crashing into a tree on the left,' he said in a statement. He added that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries to the head and body. Further investigation is ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
