Housing Minister should quit, BJP says and demands CBI probe into allotment ‘scam'
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Telkur insisted that Minister for Housing and Minority Welfare B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan take moral responsibility for the rampant corruption in the housing scheme and resign from the Cabinet or Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should immediately suspend him.
He said that the two-year rule of the Congress-led government in the State is marked by a series of scams and corruption, including irregularities in the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation and MUDA, diversion of funds meant for Dalit welfare under Special Component Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan (SCP/TSP) funds.
'The Congress-led government is facing serious corruption allegations by its own legislators. We appreciate Mr. Patil for exposing the corruption in the housing scheme and MLA Raju Kage who has backed Mr. Patil's allegations,' he said.
'In allotment of houses, corruption begins when a staff arrives to capture GPS image of the allotted house. The gram panchayat president, Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs), MLAs of the respective taluks and the Housing Minister are involved in this corruption,' Mr.Telkur said.
Mr. Telkur demanded that the State government cancel the allotment list and re-allot houses to genuine beneficiaries by holding gram sabha meetings.
'Political stunt'
Another BJP leader Harshanand Guttedar, who is a former Zilla Panchayat vice-president and belongs to Aland taluk, addressing a press conference, said that MLA B.R. Patil's allegations against house allotment scheme exposes the Congress government's corruption. It is not that he has concern towards people, but (it is) a political stunt to gain mileage, Mr. Guttedar said.
'It is Mr. Patil's style of politics of vengeance. It is his way of expressing his disappointment over not being inducted into the State Cabinet. Mr. Patil is frustrated and he is on a mission to sink the Congress ship in the State,' Mr. Guttedar said.
The houses were allotted to beneficiaries in December 2024, Mr. Guttedar said and added that the alleged corruption took place under Mr. Patil's nose and asked why after being silent all these months, he has exposed it only now.

Delhi govt revises mobile purchase limits for CM, Ministers
New Delhi: Ina move drawing both administrative focus and political fire, the Delhi Government has initiated a significant revision in mobile-related perks for top officials as well as Ministers, including the Chief Minister. Under the updated guidelines being implemented by the General Administration Department (GAD), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will now be entitled to purchase a mobile phone worth up to ₹1.5 lakh using government funds, while her cabinet ministers can buy handsets costing up to ₹1.25 lakh. The revision comes as part of a move to update a decade-old circular originally issued in 2013, which had capped the Chief Minister's mobile phone purchase limit at ₹50,000 and that of ministers at ₹45,000. The newly revised policy is set to provide modern communication tools to senior officials and ensure 'functional efficiency.' Notably, officials such as the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, and Principal Secretaries will now be eligible to purchase phones ranging between ₹80,000 and ₹1 lakh, up from the earlier ceiling of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000. Even ministerial secretaries and other senior staff will now be allowed handsets worth up to ₹50,000. While the government will reimburse the cost of the handset, SIM cards will not be provided. Officials, including the Chief Minister and ministers, are free to use their personal numbers on these phones. According to the office memorandum issued by Joint Secretary Pradeep Tayal, the updated guidelines also clarify that a mobile phone purchased under this scheme cannot normally be replaced for two years. However, an exception is allowed if repair costs exceed 50% of the device's original cost, in which case, a replacement may be considered. Apart from the handset cost, monthly mobile bill reimbursements have also been restructured. The Chief Minister will now be eligible for up to ₹7,000 per month for mobile usage, while ministers and the Chief Secretary can claim up to ₹6,000. Principal Secretaries and Secretaries are allowed up to ₹5,000 and ₹2,500 respectively, while Additional Secretaries and Private Secretaries to CM are allowed ₹1,500 and ₹5,000 respectively. These figures mark a notable revision from the earlier structure, where reimbursement limits were lower and categorized less expansively. The announcement has stirred political controversy. Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj took to Instagram to sharply criticize the BJP-led administration. 'Congratulations to the CM and ministers of Delhi BJP. A ₹1.5/1.25 lakh phone plan and unlimited bills, development is surely happening, at least for someone,' he posted sarcastically. Bharadwaj's comments underscored a range of public frustrations, including severe waterlogging, prolonged traffic jams, cuts in widow pensions, and the unfulfilled promise of a ₹2,500 monthly allowance for women. 'Not a single woman has received the ₹2,500 even months after March 8,' he remarked. 'Committees were formed, promises made, but in the end, it's the phones that got approved.' People repenting for supporting Congress and BRS: Telangana BJP President Ramchander Rao
Nalgonda (Telangana) [India], July 15 (ANI): Telangana State BJP President N Ramchander Rao, on Monday, called upon party workers to get themselves ready to launch an agitation against anti-people policies of the Congress government, which has failed to fulfil promises given to the people. As per a release, Rao said that the people of the state have realised and expressed repentance for electing the Congress party into power after falling prey to its hollow promises, which deceived farmers and students. The BJP president asserted that now people are looking towards the BJP, hoping that this party alone can provide a 'golden and a true democratic government to meet the aspirations of the poor and downtrodden. He appealed to people to give the BJP a chance, as they have acknowledged their mistakes by voting for BRS and Congress. 'Let us build a Viksit Telangana with double engine sarkar (governments) and ask people to provide a chance to the BJP in the next elections,' he said. Ramchander Rao embarked on a two-day tour programme in Nalgonda and Suryapet districts to rejuvenate and encourage party workers to keep ready to face elections, including proposed local body elections in the state. He said the party would contest all elections from the village to the ZPTC level in local body elections on its own. The Telangana BJP President demanded that the Revanth Reddy government provide a ration card to each and every eligible poor family in the state, as there were reports that the ruling party is trying to give ration cards to only Congress workers. He further stated that the central government is providing rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Yojana scheme free of cost, which is being distributed through Ration shops, adding, 'But instead of expressing gratitude to the Centre, the state government is taking credit for it and even removed photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at ration shops.' Raising the issue of 42 per cent BC reservation, Ramachander Rao said the BJP is not against reservations, but in the name of providing reservations to BC, a 10 per cent reservation on religious-based quota is not acceptable. Stating that religion-based reservations would affect and do injustice to the Backwards classes, Rao called upon the BCs to prepare for an agitation for justice. It was the Revanth Reddy government that brought the BC reservation bill to the assembly, and it was the responsibility of his government to implement the BC reservations. He asked the BC community to launch an agitation against religion-based reservations and said even the Supreme Court had struck down reservation quotas made on the basis of religion. BJP would launch agitations in the coming days on various people's problems including anti-people, anti- farmers, anti-students and highlight failures of Revanth Reddy government and its inefficient functioning, Rao said and alleged that Congress party become a slavery of Sonia Gandhi family and chief minister Revanth Reddy is pawn in the hands of that family. Rao called upon people to fight to liberate Telangana state from the hands of the Gandhi family, as people had fought against the erstwhile Nizam rule to liberate the state. (ANI)
