George Pickens' Youth Football Camp Snub Draws Apology from Organizers
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens was recently lit up on social media for allegedly skipping out on a local Pittsburgh area youth football camp that he had reportedly committed to, then re-committed to after his trade to the Dallas Cowboys.

TrueEdge Sports, the organizer of the camp, issued a statement slamming Pickens for what the original statement said was Pickens "walking back" on his word to appear and that he was "no longer interested" in attending the camp. The statement said the organizers were "deeply frustrated" by his decision.
Now, it seems that all of that was ... wrong?
TrueEdge Sports released a second statement, seemingly "walking back" everything it said in the original statement.
"At TrueEdge Sports, we take pride in fostering strong relationships with the athletes, families and communities we serve. Recently, a statement was issued regarding our scheduled youth camp with George Pickens that did not accurately reflect the full scope of communication or the context surrounding the event," the statement read. At no point did George communicate with us directly, and our communication with George's representatives led to confusion about the camp's status and future direction.

"Regrettably, the language used in our original message mischaracterized George's interest and actions. While our frustrations stemmed from the uncertainty surrounding the event, it was never our intention to publicly question George's professionalism, integrity, or commitment to the community. We now understand the implications of our message were not only inappropriate but inconsistent with our values as an organization."

In the article, Manzano listed Johnson as the Steelers' breakout player candidate/X-factor. How the Steelers' offense takes shape in 2025 might hinge on Johnson's development. If the rookie third-round pick makes an immediate impact, that would allow the young offensive line to establish a rhythm early in games and take pressure off Rodgers, who struggled with mobility last season with the New York Jets. There's also the lack of depth at wide receiver behind Metcalf meaning the Steelers might depend heavily on Johnson emerging as a productive playmaker in his rookie year. - Manzano, Sports Illustrated It's unclear what exactly Johnson's role will be on the Steelers in 2025, as fan-favorite running back Jaylen Warren is still on the roster and figures to be the favorite to start. The Steelers should continue to run a two-back system like they did with Warren and Harris, which would get Johnson on the field early and often. Plus, when you add in Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers seem primed to have a run-first mentality, which favors fans who want to see Johnson get some run. Regardless of what exact role he has, the former Hawkeye star will get a chance to show what he can do in the NFL this season.
